Poor Parker! He needs some stability in his life. You can always send him off to Oklahoma to live with me for a while....I promise to take good care of him!

Chapter 32a
Philip joined his family in the kitchen. Parker had peanut butter and jelly all over his face, but that didn’t stop Philip from giving his son a big hug and kiss. “Man, is it good to have you home. You sleep good, buddy?”
Parker shrugged, and Philip said, “What do you want to do today, big guy? Just name it. Do you want to go to a movie? Or on the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier? How about the aquarium? You love seeing the manta rays.” Parker merely played with the food on his plate.
Philip glanced at Chloe with worry. “He hasn’t said a word this morning,” she told him.
Philip’s lips parted and he turned back to Parker, squatting next to his chair. “Hey big guy, I know you had a really tough couple days. We’re here for you, you know.” Parker looked askance at Philip. “I know, Parker, we let you down. I let you down and I’m sorry. Sorrier than I can ever say. But I feel so lucky to have you back and I will never take that for granted. So please, Parker, talk to us.”
Parker pushed Philip’s chest and scooted out of his chair before scurrying down the hall and closing the door to his room. Still squatting next to Parker’s empty chair, Philip squeezed his eyes shut. He shook his head and rose to his feet. “This isn’t gonna be over quickly.”
“I’m not sure it will ever be over,” Chloe said.
Philip whirled around. “What??”
“This family is fractured, Philip.”
His stomach turned. “And you blame me. Say it.”
Chloe looked down at the kitchen counter. “It’s not that. It’s just that every time I think we’re gonna make it, something happens to pull the floor out from under me.” She looked up at Philip. “I can’t do it anymore.”
He took a step toward her. “Chloe, don’t. Not now.”
“Why not?”
“First of all, because I don’t have the strength for this right now. And second, because, the three of us have just been through something terrible. This isn’t the time to make important decisions. It’s the time to come together and support each other and especially to be there for Parker.”
Chloe wrung her hands. “Tell me the truth, Philip. What happened when you and Monica were in her apartment yesterday?”

Ugh, Chloe. Whatever Philip did was not consensual, and anyway he's right, this isn't the time. You have a son who is selectively mute. Get your priorities straight!
I hope someone can get through to Parker.

Holy kittycats. A) why isn't someone calling Dr Richards? B) I get that Chloe is upset and insecure, but I think this is a conversation that can wait. C) Philip knows Chloe well enough to know she needs an answer and the faster he gives it, the better. D) I'm not sure that Chloe will believe Philip.... This may not end well.

Oh boy... Chloe seriously needs to get her priorities straight. I would think that getting her son better would be the most important thing right now, and now's really not the time to make huge relationship decisions.

Wow Chloe is selfish Something pulls the rug from under her News flash this didn't just happen to you She should be more focused on her son and like Philip said it's a time to stick together The fact that she's being this way about what Philip did, like heroicmuse said was not consensual anyways and she should be more supportive of what he went through rather than blame him for being a victim himself Someone needs to seriously slap her I hope Philip dumps her when this is all said and done she doesn't deserve him

I understand that Chloe wants answers, but this is not the time or place to be having this conversation again. Parker has already stated that things change all the time and so quickly around there. He's insecure about his home right now...and if he were to walk in and hear the wrong part of the conversation, that could make things so much more worse for him. Chloe needs to put her own insecurities aside at the moment and present a united front with Philip for Parker. All of this is not going to clear up over night and she cannot continue to run away when things get tough. She will never be the stable mother that Parker needs if she doesn't learn to stop making everything about her.
I don't like Parker not talking. I hope that Mary, George, or even Daniel stops by soon and the little guy opens up to one of them. He needs to get this off his chest.

Poor Parker. I hope he speaks soon.
I think Chloe is acting out of fear right now. She's probably scared that Parker isn't going to get over his ordeal for a long time. It must be awful seeing your child like this and struggling to figure out how to help him.

Chapter 32b
“Tell me the truth, Philip. What happened when you and Monica were in her apartment yesterday?”
“How—” He rubbed his forehead. “How did you know I was in an apartment with Monica?”
“I wish I could say it was because you told me what happened. … I heard it.”
Philip’s brow knit. “You and I have hardly had a moment to talk, and if you want to know the truth, I already blocked it from my mind. I’m focused on my son being home today, not the hell we lived through yesterday.”
With a nod, she said, “To answer your question about how I knew, that tracking app Rafe put on your phone? It was a listening device too.”
“Oh. I completely forgot about that. So … so that means you already know what happened.”
Chloe shook her head from side to side. “We lost the connection right after Monica said—” She swallowed hard. “Right after she said she wants you. That’s the last thing we heard.” Philip’s eyes narrowed and he turned away from Chloe. “You can’t look at me, can you?”
Philip turned toward her again. “Nothing happened, Chloe. I mean, I had to kiss her to make her think I cared. I wanted to get Parker back at all costs.”
“Whatever it takes, right?”
“Right. But I could never have done what you’re thinking I did.”
“Not even to save Parker?”
Philip looked at Chloe for a long minute. “It was all an act. Kissing her made me physically ill, but I had to do it. It was no different than being an actor in a play. You’ve been on stage. You can relate to that, right? As for going any further with her, it didn’t even come close. I told her I needed to see Parker before I could relax enough to—”
Shuddering, she held her hand up. “I get it.”
“That’s when she took me to the storage unit where she left Parker.”
Chloe walked past Philip to the living room and plopped onto the sofa. She picked up a decorative pillow and held it to her chest. “It hurts too much to think about what my angel went through.”
From the kitchen, Philip stared down the hallway toward the bedrooms and quietly said, “I know.” He looked at Chloe again. She was now lying curled upon the couch. Pushing aside the conversation they had a minute ago, he went behind the couch and stroked her hair. Touching her made the moment feel normal. “Have you eaten anything?”
“Too tired,” she said with her eyes closed. “You snore.”
“Sorry,” he said with a small laugh.
“At least you were able to sleep.”
“Chloe, why don’t you go inside and try to sleep. I’ll make you some breakfast when you wake up.”
Chloe slowly sat up. “Will you look in on Parker?”
“Of course.” Chloe got up off the couch. He hated leaving things like this. “Chloe wait.” She kept walking toward the bedroom.
The phone in her hand rang and she answered it. “Hi Daniel. … Not so good. He’s not talking much today.” She disappeared into her bedroom and shut the door partway.

I'm glad Philip and Chloe talked and that Chloe seems to understand, for the most part, that Philip was forced to do what he did. Philip is so sweet to her and I hope she realizes that.

Personally, I don't think Chloe does understand, and I'm afraid that this will lead to yet another break up in their relationship. Which it shouldn't, as Monica essentially forced herself on Philip.

I feel like I am always ragging on Chloe...but she really has to understand that, especially given her background, she needs to stop thinking about her own issues and focus on Parker. Once that's addressed, then she can worry about the rest. And, given her background, she needs to let Dr Richards help her work through everything that's happened. Also, Philip just sounds defeated and could use a few sessions of his own with Dr Richards. Dr Richards could stay in business just treating these three right now!
