Thank you all for your patience during this brief respite between “seasons.”
Please listen to this song (my writing inspiration) as you read the previews below.
In Appointment With Destiny…
Philip and Chloe react to the shock of Parker’s disappearance. Each one deals with it in different ways. Their relationship will be tested as they try to learn his whereabouts.
Past characters from earlier parts of this saga will make appearances, along with Salemites who try to aid in the search (sort of like a class reunion — think of the Seinfeld finale episode, but not as funny. Actually, not funny at all.).
-Law enforcement will clash. -Members of the medical community will clash. -It’ll be a mess!
Will Philip and Chloe survive the ordeal? Will Parker?
Tune in Monday for the start of Appointment with Destiny.

First--I love Clapton. All the Clapton. Any time. Second--this certainly doesn't look like a "fun" part of the Philip and Chloe story, but it does look intriguing! And usually the tough periods of a relationship make the connection that much stronger, so I'm going to be optimistic that they will be fine, Parker will be safe, and we'll see some of our favorites again very soon!

Chapter 1a
Chloe stopped short at the entrance to the daycare center, and Philip stopped right behind her. There was an odd scene going on. A uniformed police officer was talking to a couple of the daycare workers. One of the women was standing near the window crying.
“What’s going on,” Chloe said as she and Philip took a step further into the room.
Philip touched Chloe’s back and walked around her toward the policeman. “Officer, I’m the head of Titan Media. What’s going on here?” He gestured toward Sharon, the woman who was crying. “Why were the police called?”
“We’re investigating a missing child report,” the officer replied flatly. “A five year old boy. Have you seen him?” He held up a photo. “His name is Parker Kiriakis.”
Philip clutched a nearby chair and his knees buckled. The officer gripped Philip’s arm. Philip turned his head very slowly to look at Chloe. She was white as a sheet and staring blankly ahead. Philip turned and faced the officer again, who appeared to be drifting farther away. Philip’s body was shaking and his skin felt clammy. Everything was going in slow motion. “Parker is—” Philip’s voice cracked. His mouth was dry. Clearing his throat he said, “Parker’s our son. I’m his father.”
The officer’s lips parted. “Then you must be Philip Kiriakis. The workers here gave me Parker’s photo and information.”
“What information?” Chloe stepped forward. “I’m sure it’s wrong. You have him mixed up with some other child.” She looked at Sharon, Lucinda and Deb Pryce huddled near the window. “Lucinda, come here. Come tell them. It’s not Parker. It can’t be. Parker is staying with Mary Richards this week.”
Lucinda stepped closer and swallowed. Wringing her hands she said, “I’m afraid there’s no mistake, Chloe.” She squeezed Chloe’s arm. “Mary’s been bringing Parker to day care and when we did our normal head count—” Lucinda choked up. “He was …. gone.”
“What do you mean gone?” Chloe demanded. “What happened? Where’s Mary? Why didn’t someone call us?”
“Someone signed him out,” the officer explained. “The person signed Mary Richards’ name.”
“It just happened, Chloe, and I kept hoping Parker would turn up by the time you got here. See, we knew Mary wasn’t coming to get him today,” Lucinda said tearfully, “because you and Philip were scheduled to return and pick him up yourself. So I called Mary but she … she hadn’t seen Parker since she dropped him off here this morning.”
The words someone signed him out echoed in Chloe's ears. "Someone signed him out?" Her stomach dropped and she felt like she was going to throw up. “Are you … You can’t be implying my son’s been taken, that he’s not just missing? Are you saying he was k— k— kidnapped?”

Based on the way the officer said it, I have to wonder if it was Mary herself who kidnapped Parker. Hope he's okay! Thanks for the chapter, Kpatch.

I wonder if it was Mary also. Who else would know to sign out her name and not Chloe or Philip's? Great beginning Kpatch!
