Chapter 244
ST. LUKE'S
ERIC: Please, forgive my intrustion.
NICHOLAS: It's okay. I really don't even know what I'm doing here, to be honest.
ERIC: I know the feeling. I've had doubts many times in my life.
NICHOLAS: Well, my family's never been all that religious. And, anyway, aren't you a priest?
ERIC: No, not anymore, at least. I was, once. Now I just help out around the church. If you'd like, I can get Father Louis, if you'd feel better speaking to a priest.
NICHOLAS: No, that's fine. Nicholas Alamain.
ERIC: Eric Brady.
Eric and Nicholas shook hands.
ERIC: So, what can I help you with?
NICHOLAS: My aunt, she's not doing well. There was an incident a few weeks ago. Some psycho shot her. She's currently in a medically induced coma, and doesn't show much sign of improvement.
ERIC: I'm very sorry to hear that, Nicholas. If there's anything either myself, Father Louis, or the church can do, please don't hesitate to call.
NICHOLAS: Thanks. Well, since there was really nothing else to do, I came here...to pray, I guess. Though, honestly, I've no idea what I'm doing. There was a nun who said she had a book of prayer, but I don't know where she went.
ERIC: Well, I can certainly pray with you, if you'd like.
NICHOLAS: Thank you.
ERIC: This way.
Eric led Nicholas to the altar. They bowed. Eric walked up to the altar, picked up and lit a nearby match, and used it to light a candle. He stepped down and stood alongside Nicholas.
ERIC: What is your aunt's name?
NICHOLAS: Vivian.
ERIC: All right. Kneel with me, and fold your hands. Just repeat after me.
Nicholas and Eric knelt before the altar and folded their hands.
ERIC: Our Father, who art in Heaven.
NICHOLAS: Our Father, who art in Heaven.
ERIC: Hallowed be thy name...
DIMERA MANSION
TONY: Elvis.
E.J.: In the flesh.
TONY: Well, I must say, it's quite a suprise to see you.
E.J.: As it is to see you. Aren't you supposed to be dead?
TONY: So were you, last I heard.
E.J.: Yes, well, as you can see, we both got lucky.
TONY: The only luck I had was that I was found on André and Stefano's island.
E.J.: Ah, yes. I hear Melaswen is lovely at this time of year.
TONY: I assume that you're back as part of some diabolical scheme, concoted by André, no doubt.
E.J.: Tony, isn't it at all possible that I merely came back to reunite with my family?
SAMI: If that were true, why wait until now? It's been a few years.
E.J.: What can I say? I've been busy.
Lucas walked in.
LUCAS: What the hell is this?
E.J.: Lucas! Wonderful to see you again, old boy.
LUCAS: I can't say the same.
E.J.: Come, come now. Surely we can put whatever petty feud we had between us in the past.
LUCAS: I don't think so.
Sami walked over to Lucas.
SAMI (whispering): How's Allie?
LUCAS (whispering): She's fine.
E.J.: Oh, yes. That reminds me. The children. Now that I'm back, I must see the children. I'm sure they've grown so much since I last saw them.
SAMI: You won't be getting anywhere near my children. Or me, for that matter. Come on, Lucas, let's get out of here.
Sami and Lucas walked out.
E.J.: Well, what a welcome.
E.J. looked at Tony and Anna, neither of whom were too pleased to see him.
