Chapter 197
TITAN
The board meeting was now wrapping up.
VICTOR: And I believe that that's it. Unless there are any other matters to attend to?
Victor looked around the room. All was silent.
VICTOR: Very well, then. This meeting is adjourned.
The various shareholders and employees rose from their seats and returned to work. Philip walked over to Victor.
PHILIP: Father, I...
VICTOR: Make no mistake, Philip, I wish to keep Titan in the family, but I will not have you running late to meetings.
PHILIP: Of course, father.
VICTOR: Don't make me regret my decision about putting you in charge already.
PHILIP: I won't, father.
VICTOR: I'm glad to hear it. However, after this mornings events, I do have several things to think about. If you shall excuse me, I shall be in my office making a few calls. I'll see you at home tonight.
Victor left without another word.
SALEM INN
Vivian and Nicholas hugged.
NICHOLAS: Aunt Viv...
VIVIAN: Hello, darling. Oh, it is so wonderful to see you!
NICHOLAS: It's good to see you, too.
Nicholas looked to where Lawrence had been just moments ago, but saw that he was now gone.
VIVIAN: Looking for someone?
NICHOLAS: No, sorry. Must have been my imagination. Um, forgive me, I am, of course, happy to see you, but why are you here?
Vivian and Nicholas sat down on the bed together.
VIVIAN: Nicky, I had to come. Last night, I had a dream. More of a visitation, really.
NICHOLAS: A visitation?
Vivian nodded.
VIVIAN: From your father. My poor, dear Lawrence. He told me that you were back in Salem, and were going to bring back Alamain Industries.
NICHOLAS: Well, that's the plan.
VIVIAN: But he also told me that you needed help. That you were being distracted by that...awful Kate Roberts.
NICHOLAS: Aunt Viv, Kate is not a distraction.
VIVIAN: Nicky, you don't have to pretend with me. Your Auntie Vivian knows best, darling. I know how Kate manipulated you once, and if she tries it again...well, we'll just have to take care of her. Anyway, as I was saying, in the dream, Lawrence told me that you needed help. So, as soon as the dream ended, I woke Ivan and told him that we needed to get onto the next flight back here.
As if on cue, Ivan entered the room, carrying several suitcases.
IVAN: Where would you like these, madame?
VIVIAN: Oh, just put them by the beds, Ivan. That'll do.
IVAN: Very well.
NICHOLAS: Ivan?
IVAN: Hello, master Nicholas.
Ivan put the suitcases down, and shook hands with Nicholas.
NICHOLAS: It's been...a really long time.
IVAN: Yes. Unfortunately, madame and I were separated for far too long. Now, we cannot bear to be apart. Anywhere madame goes, I go.
NICHOLAS: I see.
IVAN: The remaining suitcases are still in the car, madame. Shall I bring them in?
VIVIAN: Oh, don't worry about that, Ivan. We can leave them until later. Right now, I believe it's time for the three of us to go on a little stroll.
IVAN: Very good.
VIVIAN: After all, Salem is beautiful at this time of the year. Come along, darling.
Vivian took Nicholas by the hand, and they walked out, with Ivan following closely behind.
