Chapter 185

LUCAS AND SAMI'S APARTMENT
Allie was eating breakfast. Both Sami and Lucas were in the kitchen, as well. Johnny walked downstairs, backpack in hand.
SAMI: Morning.
JOHNNY: Hey.
Johnny went into the refridgerator and pulled out a water bottle.
SAMI: Johnny, I think we should talk about last night.
JOHNNY: What's there to say? You've already made up your mind that you hate Uncle André, so we have nothing to discuss.
SAMI: Sweetheart, I know you like your uncle. But I didn't want to talk about him, I wanted to talk about you skipping curfew.
JOHNNY: Like I said, I lost track of time.
SAMI: This isn't the first time it's happened lately.
JOHNNY: Look, you can believe whatever you want. I gotta go to school.
LUCAS: I'll drive you. I'm driving your sister.
JOHNNY: I'd rather walk.
Johnny did so, right out the door.
SAMI: Well, that went well.
LUCAS: He'll come around, eventually.
Sami walked over to the hallway.
SAMI: Sydney, it's almost time for school. Come on out and get some breakfast.
Allie put her dishes in the dishwasher. Sydney walked out of her room.
SYDNEY: Mom, I don't feel good. I really don't feel good.
SAMI: What's wrong, honey?
SYDNEY: My stomach hurts, really bad. And I've got a headache.
Sami felt Sydney's forehead.
SAMI: Well, you do feel kind of warm. I'll stay home with you, okay?
SYDNEY: Okay, thanks.
Sami put an arm around Sydney.
LUCAS: Ready for school, Allie?
ALLIE: Yep. Bye, mom. Bye, Sydney. Hope you feel better.
SYDNEY: Thanks.
Allie went to get her coat. Lucas kissed Sami.
LUCAS: See you tonight. Love you.
SAMI: Love you, too.
LUCAS: Feel better, Syd.
SYDNEY: Thanks.
Allie and Lucas walked out.

DIMERA ENTEPPRISES
When Chad walked in, Tony was on the phone.
TONY: I see. And where did this intel come from? Hm. You're sure, then? Right. I'll see to it. Thank you.
Tony hung up his phone, and looked up.
TONY: Chad.
CHAD: Tony.
TONY: Lovely to see you, little brother.
CHAD: Likewise.
Chad and Tony shook hands. Chad sat down across from Tony.
CHAD: Who was that on the phone?
TONY: It was that private investigator we hired to keep us up to date on all the latest goings on in Salem that we may want to know about.
CHAD: And what's he found?
TONY: We have new competition.
CHAD: What sort of competiton?
TONY: Another shipping company's in the process of setting up business in Salem, and they just got approved.
CHAD: A big company, I assume?
Tony nodded.
TONY: Very big.
CHAD: Well, three major companies all in one town, all of which have a division devoted to shipping. This will be interesting.
TONY: Indeed.
CHAD: So, what's the name of this company?

OFFICE BUILDING
In a large office building, we see the back of a chair. The person sitting in it is talking on the phone.
MAN: It has been done, then? Excellent. Yes, I'll be down to your office shortly. Wonderful. Thank you.
The man stood, straightened his tie, and walked out of his office.

Uh oh, what's wrong with Sydney? I hope Johnny didn't poison her or something. Sami got nowhere with him, she and Lucas are going to have to step up their game.

I wonder what this new shipping company is. Hopefully not whatever it is that the Hernandez company is called on the show.

Wonder who that man is.

Oooh more intrigue. Seems like Salem is becoming the shipping capital of the world.

I wonder if Sydney is really sick or just pretending.

Chapter 186

LUCAS AND SAMI'S APARTMENT
Sami sat at the kitchen table, typing up e-mails. Sydney walked down the hallway. She looked like she was crying.
SYDNEY: Mom?
SAMI: Hey, hon. How are you feeling? Any better?
Sydney shook her head. Sami closed her laptop.
SAMI: What's wrong?
SYDNEY: I'm bleeding.
Sami got down from the table.
SAMI: What? Did you get cut on something? Are you hurt?
SYDNEY: No, I don't know what happened. I was just laying down and I started bleeding.
Sami looked at Sydney and saw where there was a spot of blood.
SAMI: Oh...oh. Ah. I got it now.
SYDNEY: Mom, I'm scared. Why am I bleeding? What's wrong with me?
Sami hugged Sydney and kissed her forehead.
SAMI: Honey, it's okay. It's all right, sweetie. It's actually perfectly normal.
SYDNEY: How is this normal?
SAMI: Okay, I think you and me should have a little talk, okay? We're just gonna clean up and talk for a while.
SYDNEY: Okay.
Sami led Sydney to the bathroom. Sami then went into Sydney's bedroom and grabbed her some clean clothes, as well as going into her own room and grabbing a small box. With these objects in hand, she walked back into the bathroom. After a while, they walked out of the bathroom.
SAMI: I'll be right back in a minute, honey.
Sami threw Sydney's old clothes into the laundry. Then, she came back out to the living room and sat next to Sydney, who was tearing up. She put an arm around Sydney.
SYDNEY: I'm sorry, mom. I'm just really embarrassed.
SAMI: Ssh. It's okay, Sydney. It's okay. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I knew this would come eventually. It just means you're starting to grow up.
SYDNEY: I'm scared.
SAMI: I know. I know it can be scary. It was for me when I was your age, too. But, it's actually a good thing. Let's talk, okay? Just you and me.
Sydney sniffled, wiped her nose, and nodded.

DIMERA ENTEPPRISES
TONY: Tell me, how familiar are you with the big business end of Salem from the last thirty years or so?
CHAD: I've done a bit of reading. Mostly things that father told me when he was still alive and grooming me.
TONY: Are you familiar with the company JenCon Oil?
CHAD: No, I can't say that I am.
TONY: JenCon was, and still is, a division of a much larger company.
CHAD: Which?

J & D LAW OFFICES
Andrew sat across the table from the man from the previous chapter.
ANDREW: Right, well, everything's in order. All the permits are in. Building of the new structure can begin as soon as your men are ready.
MAN: I'm glad to hear it.
ANDREW: Just one thing, it says in your paperwork that you're familiar with the area. You've been to Salem before?
MAN: A few times over the years, yeah.
ANDREW: Well then, welcome back to Salem, Nicholas Alamain.
Andrew and Nicholas shook hands.
NICHOLAS: Good be back.

Well, that's interesting! I wonder what Nicholas' ultimate plan is.

So Sydney got her first period! I'm glad she and Sami can talk about this.

I wonder what Tony has to say to Chad.

Nicholas! It's always interesting to see your version of Nicholas.

JenCon sounds familiar. I wonder if it's part of Dimera Enterprises.

I wondered if that was what was wrong with Sydney.

Why does JenCon sound so dang familiar to me? I sure hope that Tony sheds some light on that subject.

I'm gonna have to do some research on Nicholas. Not sure I remember him. I know I've heard the name.

Chapter 187

DIMERA ENTERPRISES
TONY: As I was saying, JenCon Oil is a subsidiary of a much larger company.
CHAD: Which one?
TONY: Alamain Industries.
CHAD: Don't recall hearing of them.
TONY: Well, then consider yourself lucky.
CHAD: I mean, I've never heard of the company. The name sounds familiar. Alamain. Where have I heard that before?
TONY: Formerly headed by Lawrence Alamain until his death in 2009, it has since been restarted by his only son, Nicholas.
CHAD: I vaguely remember hearing about this. How did Lawrence die?
TONY: He was stabbed to death by his wife, Carly Manning. She claimed it was self-defense.
CHAD: Carly? That's Melanie's mother...wait a minute. Alamain? You can't mean...Alamain as in Vivian Alamain?
TONY: And the penny drops. Yes, Vivian Alamain, Nicholas' great-aunt.
CHAD: She's not that great. She's psychotic.
TONY: She's also not involved in the family business.
CHAD: As far as we know. From what little I remember of the story, by all accounts, Lawrence was Vivian's favorite nephew. If his son is in charge of the entire company, I have no doubt that Vivian will be close behind.

TITAN
Philip was in his office, on the phone.
PHILIP: What's the lastest on new businesses in the area? Mm hmm. I see. What about DiMera? Right. Yeah, of course. They're our biggest competiton. What's that supposed to mean? What? Which one? Oh, you've gotta be kidding me! All right, if you're sure. Okay. Thanks.
Philip hung up. He shook his head, and dialed another number.

CAR
Nicholas was driving down the highway. His phone rang. He pressed a button on the steering wheel.
NICHOLAS: Alamain.
PHILIP (vo, over phone): Nicky, we need to talk.

BRADY PUB
Scotty and David were at the Brady Pub. A few minutes after they sat down, Steve and Kayla arrived.
SCOTTY: Hey, guys.
KAYLA: Hi, Scotty. David.
DAVID: Kayla.
KAYLA: This is my husband, Steve Johnson. Steve, this is an old friend of mine, David Banning.
DAVID: Nice to meet you.
STEVE: Pleasure, dude.
David and Steve shook hands.
STEVE: So, Kayla tells me that you ride.
DAVID: I used to, before I busted my leg.
STEVE: Ouch. That's tough, dude.
DAVID: You're tellin' me. You ride?
STEVE: Every now and then. Not as much as I used to.
KAYLA: I'm gonna go check on ma. I'll be back in a few minutes.
SCOTTY: I'll come with.
Kayla and Scotty left the room.
DAVID: It's just crazy being back in Salem after all this time.
STEVE: Yeah. Kay says it's been a long time. What's brought you back.
DAVID: To be honest, this leg. Scott and my mother insisted that I come back to stay with them.
STEVE: Gotcha.
DAVID: So, you and Kayla are married, then. How long's it been?
STEVE: Gotta tell ya, man, it feels like forever. But I would not trade a single second of it. Kayla's the best thing that ever happened to me.
DAVID: She has that effect on people. She brings out the best in them.
STEVE: She sure does.
DAVID: So, it looks like you won.
