KATE’S TOWNHOUSE
BILLIE: You do realize that Cassie is a grown adult and can take care of herself, right?
KATE: She may be an adult, but she’s still very naive as to how certain things work.
BILLIE: Oh, I don’t think she’s quite as naive as you’d like to think.
KATE: So you won’t help me, then?
BILLIE: I didn’t say I wouldn’t help you. If I happen to see something untoward happening, or get the feeling that Nicholas is going to get her into trouble, of course I’ll step in. What I’m not going to do is spy on my little sister.
KATE: I wasn’t asking you to spy on her.
BILLIE: It was implied.
The door opened, and Lucas walked in.
LUCAS: Well, whoever you’re spying on, I hope you’re more careful about leaving the door closed around her than you are today.
KATE: Lucas.
BILLIE: Hey.
LUCAS: Hi.
Lucas and Billie hugged.
KATE: Honey, I’m so glad you came.
LUCAS: No problem. So, who are you asking Billie to spy on?
KATE: Nobody!
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
KATE: Honestly. I was merely asking your sister here if she’d keep an eye on Cassie while they’re in Europe together.
LUCAS: You’re going on that trip too, huh?
BILLIE: Yeah, Greta wanted some ISA presence there after what happened at her coronation all those years ago.
LUCAS: Good thinking. Sounds like it’ll be a good time.
BILLIE: It should be.
There was another knock at the door. Kate opened it, and Austin walked in.
KATE: Hello, darling.
Kate and Austin hugged.
AUSTIN: Hi, Mom. Hi, everyone.
BILLIE: Hi, bro.
Lucas nodded.
AUSTIN: Hope I’m not late to the party.
KATE: Not at all. We’re still waiting on Philip and the twins.
Next to walk in were Cassie and Rex.
CASSIE: Here we are.
AUSTIN: Hey guys. Looks like we all came around the same time.
REX: Well, we were told lunch would be served promptly at 12:30, so here we are.
KATE: And it will be. Oh, that reminds me, I should check on it. I’ll be right back.
Kate walked into another room.
AUSTIN: So Cass, I heard Mom saying something to Roman the other day about you going to Europe.
CASSIE: That’s right. I got invited by Nicholas Alamain.
AUSTIN: Cool! That means two of us’ll be there. Carrie and I got an invitation.
BILLIE: Three, actually. Scotty and I will be there, as well.
AUSTIN: Awesome! This is gonna be great!
REX: It certainly sounds like you’ll all have a good time.
There was another knock on the door. Lucas opened it to find Philip on the other side.
PHILIP: Sorry I’m late. Dani was being fussy this morning, and I was helping Melanie calm her down.
LUCAS: You’re not late. We actually all just got here.
CASSIE: Yeah, come on in.
Kate came into the room as he was saying this.
KATE: Yes, your timing is impeccable, darling. Now, you all come in. Lunch is served.

All of Kate's kids in the same room at the same time! I think that's a first. I love it.

LOL at Lucas saying he hopes they're better at closing the door with whoever they're spying on.

I love seeing this reunion. Can't wait for the luncheon.

It seems like everyone is going to Europe except Lucas and Philip.

The only kids of Kate who aren't going are Lucas, Philip and Rex I don't think because Rex is in no condition to travel considering he is still handicapped since he's in a wheelchair still. Unless he has made arrangements to go after all.

It seems Philip is settling into fatherhood with Dani.

Love that all of Kate's kids are in town and especially all in one place, in the same room that being Austin, Billie, Lucas, Philip, Rex and Cassie.

This is bound to be a reunion for the ages. All of Kate's kids under one roof and all at the same table?

Interesting that none of the spouses or their kids came. I wonder what Kate is up to....

Thursday - 12/30

KATE’S TOWNHOUSE
Everyone had moved into the dining room and was eating.
KATE: So, it seems that half of my children will be in Europe following the new year.
AUSTIN: Sure does. I can’t wait to see Greta again! And, you know, meet her nieces and watch them be officially recognized as members of the royal family.
CASSIE: It should be an awesome time!
BILLIE: Yes, it should.
AUSTIN: So, the thing said to bring a plus one. Who are you going with, Cass?
CASSIE: I was invited by Nicholas Alamain.
Philip dropped his fork.
PHILIP: You cannot be serious.
CASSIE: What? He invited me, and I said yes.
Philip rubbed his face.
PHILIP: Cassie, this is a terrible idea!
LUCAS: Would anyone like another roll?
PHILIP: Do you even know anything about Nicholas?
CASSIE: I do, actually. I know his aunt’s crazy, and it sounds like his father wasn’t much different, but so far, Nicholas doesn’t seem to have inherited that.
LUCAS: No one wants a roll, then?
REX: I’ll take one.
Lucas passed the basket of rolls across the table to Rex. Philip turned to him.
PHILIP: Did you know about this?
REX: Of course. Cassie and I are twins, we tell each other everything.
PHILIP: And you’re okay with it?
CASSIE: First of all, I’ll thank you to stop talking as if I’m not in the room. Second, Rex does not control what I do. I’m an adult, I can make my own decisions.
PHILIP: Well going anywhere with Nicholas Alamain is a really bad one!
CASSIE: Nicky is the reason Rex and I are even here having this lunch!
PHILIP: Is that so?
CASSIE: It is. It was a doctor on the Alamain payroll who made the serum that put a stop to André DiMera’s brainwashing, and brought Rex and I back here.
PHILIP: If you think he did that out of the kindness of his heart, you’re wrong. He doesn’t have one.
CASSIE: I don’t have to listen to this.
Cassie got up.
KATE: Cassie, please, don’t go.
CASSIE: I need to freshen up. Excuse me.
Cassie left the room. Rex stood up.
REX: I’ll go talk to her.
He followed Cassie down the hall.
AUSTIN: Dude, what is your problem?
PHILIP: My problem is Nicholas Alamain. I know him better than almost everybody at this table, and I am not going to stand by and let him take advantage of Cassie.
LUCAS: Nice to see you have so much faith in our sister.
BILLIE: Come on, Philip, Cassie is a lot more worldly than you think. From what I’ve heard, she’s seen both sides of Nicholas, and still accepted his request to be his date.
AUSTIN: What do you have against the guy, anyway?
Lucas and Billie exchanged a knowing look.
KATE: It’s nothing that we need to discuss right now. This bickering is pointless. I brought you all together to celebrate the fact that you’re all in town at the same time, which I don’t believe has ever happened before. Let’s just drop the subject.
LUCAS (thinking): Oh, I’m beginning to see why you really brought us here, Mom.

Well we know the reasons why Philip has a problem with Nicholas because he is not only Dani's uncle, he is Melanie's brother does Philip seem to forget that? Also Nicholas is an Alamain but also he did have an affair with Kate back in the day so I can see why Philip has problems with Nicholas

But Philip is definitely not being a protective older brother to Cassie right now...more like he's trying to control who she hangs out with

Love that Lucas and Rex, Cassie's other brothers were enjoying the show

Austin doesn't seem to know about Kate and Nicholas...I would have thought that he would but it seems Billie and Lucas know about it

Can Philip cut Nicholas some slack? He is Melanie's brother and he is your daughter Danielle's uncle too

Lucas is right. Kate brought them all together hoping they would further her agenda.

Philip should know better than anyone that interfering won't help. He doesn't like it when Kate and Victor do the same thing with him.

Too funny that Lucas kept trying to change the conversation with rolls.

I don't believe for one minute that Kate's only reason was that they were all in town at the same time.

Philip has never had that close of a relationship with Cassie before so why does he feel like it is his place to say something about who she dates/travels with? I don't think that has anything to do with Cassie but more to do with Nicholas. Has he forgotten that Nicholas is also Melanie's brother....therefore his soon to be brother in law? He better tread lightly here.

This may have been the best scene of 2021. I loved it. Lucas trying to defuse the situation with a bread basket was hilarious.

Philip has a lot of reasons to dislike and distrust Nicholas, not the least of which is that he recently tried to swindle Philip in business.

Friday - 12/31 - New Year’s Eve

LOFT
There was a knock on the door. Jade opened it to find Nicole and Daniel on the other side.
JADE: Hi, guys.
NICOLE: Hey!
DANIEL: Good to see you!
JADE: You too! Thanks so much for coming over!
DANIEL: Well, thanks for inviting us.
JADE: I was happy to. You guys have had me over for New Years the last few years, I thought I’d return the favor.
NICOLE: We’re happy to be here.
Emmy ran in from the other room.
EMMY: Auntie Nic! Uncle Dan!
Nicole scooped the child into her arms as she got closer.
NICOLE: Hey, kid. Happy almost New Year.
DANIEL: How’re you doing?
EMMY: Good!
NICOLE: That’s good.
JADE: So, welcome to the apartment.
DANIEL: Thanks. Looks like you’ve got a nice setup here.
JADE: It’s home. Emmy, do you wanna show Auntie Nic and Uncle Dan what we made?
EMMY: Yeah!
NICOLE: What’d you guys make?
Nicole allowed herself to be dragged to the kitchen area. Emmy pointed to a plate on the counter.
EMMY: Mommy helped me make cookies!
DANIEL: Oh wow! Those look really good!
EMMY: Thanks! Can we have some now, Mommy?
JADE: You can have one right now. We need to save some for later.
EMMY: Okay.
Emmy grabbed three cookies off the plate, handing one each to Nicole and Daniel.
NICOLE: Aw, thank you, sweetheart.
EMMY: You’re welcome. Wanna see my room?
NICOLE: I’d love to!
Emmy led Nicole down the hallway to her bedroom. Jade and Daniel chuckled as they watched.
JADE: You guys are so good with her.
DANIEL: She’s a good kid. Plus, Nicole’s always been great with kids, and I love them, too. Besides, you, Jade, you and Emmy are family. I’m very glad you two have bonded.
JADE: Me too.

HORTON TOWN SQUARE
The rest of Salem had gathered together in the Town Square for the annual New Year’s party.
BILLIE: Any luck with the situation down at the University?
RAFE: Not much, unfortunately. So far, all I’ve got are dead-ends, and the tech guys are dragging their feet at getting a better copy of the CCTV tapes from the dorms.
BILLIE: That’s a shame.
RAFE: I’m not giving up hope, though. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to find whoever this creep is and bring them to justice. Anyway, how are things at the ISA?
BILLIE: Not bad, thanks. I’m about to go on a bit of a security mission.
RAFE: Sounds exciting.
BILLIE: It should be.

MAGGIE: How are you settling in, dear?
ELLE: Okay, so far. It’s nice being here, getting to meet some of the people I’ve heard so much about over the years.
MAGGIE: I’m sure it is.
ELLE: Though, to be honest, this town does bring back some old memories. Good ones, but still…
Maggie patted Elle’s hand.
MAGGIE: I understand. If you ever want to talk, I’m happy to lend an ear.
ELLE: Thanks, Maggie. For everything. You and Sarah have both helped the move from Boston to here really nice.
SARAH: Well, that was the plan.
Sarah and Elle hugged.

SILVER: Thanks for inviting me.
SYDNEY: No problem. I’m glad you came.
SILVER: I was happy to. I’m always happy to hang out with you.
Too late, Silver realized what she had said and went pink.
SILVER: Sorry. I’m really trying to be less forward.
SYDNEY: It’s okay, we both have things we need to work on.

Anna and Carrie hugged.
ANNA: Happy almost New Year, sweetheart.
CARRIE: Thanks, Mom. You too. And thank you again for the lovely coat. You too, Tony.
TONY: Not a problem. We’re glad you enjoy it.
ANNA: It’s too bad you can’t stay after the party in Europe.
CARRIE: I know. I wish we could, too, but Austin and I have to get back to work, and Noah has school.
TONY: Well, whatever time we have together will be nice.
CARRIE: True. Although, you guys should come out to Switzerland sometime. We’d love to have you!
ANNA: Oh, that would be wonderful!
TONY: Sounds like an excellent idea to me.

Melanie looked at her phone.
PHILIP: Any messages?
MELANIE: Nope.
She put the phone back in her handbag.
MELANIE: Sorry, I don’t mean to be distracted. I am having a good time, it’s just…
PHILIP: Hey, you don’t have to explain anything to me. It’s our first time not being with Dani overnight. I’m anxious about it, too. But, your mom and David are taking care of her. She’s in good hands.
MELANIE: I know. Thanks.
Philip and Melanie hugged.

ALLIE: So, you’re still here through Sunday, right?
RICKY: Yeah, unfortunately I’ve gotta head back early Sunday morning. I wish I could stay longer.
ALLIE: Me too. It was good seeing you for Christmas, though.
RICKY: Yeah, it was good to see you, too. And to meet your kitten. She’s adorable.
ALLIE: Thanks. I’m glad you like her.

Alanis looked over to Claire, who was with Chase a short distance away. Claire gave her a nod. Alanis took Joey by the hand.
ALANIS: Hey, can we talk?
JOEY: Sure.
Alanis led Joey over to one of the benches in the Square.
JOEY: Is everything okay?
ALANIS: Yeah, I just want to talk to you about something.
JOEY: Okay. What’s up?
ALANIS: I like you. A lot.
JOEY: Well, I should hope so. I like you, too.
DOUG: One minute to midnight, everybody!
ALANIS: And after everything that’s happened this last year, how amazing you’ve been with everything, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. You’re the best person I’ve ever known, and…
DOUG: Fifteen seconds! Eleven…ten…
ALANIS: And I know that we know how we feel about each other, but I really want to make this official.
ALL (except Joey and Alanis): Nine…eight…seven…six…five…
JOEY: Are you saying what I think you’re saying?
ALL (except Joey and Alanis): Four…three…
ALANIS: Yes.
She pulled a ring out of her pocket and knelt down.
ALL (except Joey and Alanis): Two…one…Happy New Year!
CLICK HERE to listen to music. The clock chimed midnight. Streamers, noisemakers and fireworks went off. All of the couples kissed.
ALANIS: Will you marry me?

What an end to the year! I can't wait for Joey's answer! And I'm curious as to what Billie's mission is. Does it have to do with Cassie and Nicholas I wonder?

I'm glad Rafe is going to get the CCTV culprit but I hope Johnny doesn't get in too much trouble!

I wonder if Joey will say yes to Alanis' proposal especially on New Years Eve? I wonder if Joey will feel like he should have been the one to propose to her rather than it being her proposing to him?

Melanie has anxiety about being away from her daughter. I can't blame her especially after Philip and Melanie just had her and they are still adjusting to parenthood. Plus Dani is with her Grandma Carly and David so I'm sure Dani will be fine. I wonder if Melanie will find out how Philip feels about her brother Nicholas and his sister Cassie?
