BRADY PUB
CHLOE: As in right now?
BRADY: I mean, that’s what I had in mind. I totally understand if you don’t, though.
CHLOE: Well, I do need to get back to Chicago. But, I have a couple minutes. We should probably go somewhere more private, though.
BRADY: Yeah, wherever you want.
CHLOE: I need to get my things from the Salem Inn. Maybe you could come with and we could talk there?
BRADY: Sure, that sounds great.
Chloe and Brady walked out of the Pub together.
BLACK PATCH
John walked over to Joy’s desk, some papers in hand.
JOY: I’m still looking into the Committee for you. Whoever these guys are, they sure didn’t want to be found. Not to toot my own horn, but, I haven’t met a firewall that I couldn’t take down, though this one is giving me a run for my money.
JOHN: I appreciate all the work you’re putting in. And I don’t want to overload you, but I have another request that ties into this case.
JOY: I can multitask. What’ve you got for me, boss?
John handed Joy the paper in his hand.
JOHN: I’d like you to look into these two.
JOY: Warren and Marion Bates, Carter’s parents.
JOHN: I sent them an invitation to the funeral, and just had a conversation with them this morning. Thanks again for finding their location.
JOY: No problem. So, I’m guessing you don’t trust them after your conversation?
JOHN: I wouldn’t say that. They seem genuine enough. I’m just curious if there’s a reason Carter was drawn to the Committee. Perhaps there’s something in their life that might give us a clue.
JOY: I’m on it.
JOHN: Thanks.
SAMI & LUCAS’ APARTMENT
Since Allie had moved into the dorms, the room that she used to share with Sydney was now fully Sydney’s room. Sydney and Silver were sitting in there.
SILVER: How’d the funeral go yesterday?
SYDNEY: It was nice.
SILVER: That’s good. I’m sorry.
SYDNEY: Thanks. I didn’t really know him that well, but I appreciate it.
SILVER: Of course.
SYDNEY: Let’s talk about something happier.
SILVER: Okay. I saw a sign at school the other day that Fall Fest is starting next weekend.
SYDNEY: Yeah, I saw that, too! I’m so excited! I love Fall Fest!
SILVER: Me too! It was so much fun when you and me went last year! Well, most of it, anyway.
Sydney nodded.
SYDNEY: I know what you mean. It was great!
SILVER: I was wondering, did you want to go with me again this year?
SALEM UNIVERSITY
Allie was sitting at the desk in her dorm room, reading something on her laptop. Her phone rang.
ALLIE: Allie Horton. Oh, hi. What’s going on? Okay. Oh, gotcha. Right. So, what happens then? I see.
Manny walked in. Allie mouthed “one sec” to her, and she nodded.
ALLIE: Thanks for keeping me updated. All right. Bye.
Allie hung up.
MANNY: Hey.
ALLIE: Hey. Sorry about that.
MANNY: No problema. Everything okay?
ALLIE: Yeah. That was the vet clinic.
MANNY: Oh, cool. They got news for you?
KIRIAKIS MANSION
Andrew and Theresa hugged.
THERESA: Thanks for coming. I do genuinely mean that. I know we don’t always get along, mostly because of my stubborn attitude, but you being here meant a lot.
ANDREW: You getting soft on me, Jeannie?
THERESA: And you had to go and ruin it by calling me that.
She winked. Andrew smiled.
ANDREW: And, of course I came. You’re my little sister. I’ll always be here when you need me, whether you think you need it or not.
THERESA: Thanks.
ANDREW: You know, I wish I could stay longer, but-
THERESA: I get it. Duty calls.
ANDREW: Yeah. I will try to stop by more often.
THERESA: Good. Oh, before you go, there’s something I wanted to ask you.
ANDREW: What’s up?
THERESA: Can you look into what happened to Brady, my Brady, for me?
SALEM INN
Chloe and Brady walked in. Chloe’s suitcases were waiting on the bed.
BRADY: It’s, uh, it’s been a long time.
CHLOE: I guess it has been, yeah. Thirteen years.
BRADY: Thirteen years.
CHLOE: I have to say, this is still really strange for me. I mean, up until a few weeks ago, I thought you were still in Salem and married to Theresa. Then suddenly, I find out that that’s not you, that you were kidnapped and taken hostage for years on end.
BRADY: It’s weird for me, too. Being away from everybody for so long. I never forgot about you, though. You were actually a big part of what kept me going all of those years being held captive by those psychos.
CHLOE: What did they do to you?
BRADY: Not anything pleasant, I’ll tell you that.
CHLOE: Well obviously.
BRADY: It was torture. Literal torture. For about 23 hours a day, I was kept in a box the size of a coffin under the bed of this one couple. The one hour I wasn’t, I was allowed to eat, go to the bathroom, and that’s about it. The rest of the time, I was…
He shuddered slightly. Chloe put a hand on his shoulder.
CHLOE: Hey, it’s me. You can tell me anything.
BRADY: The rest of the time, I was their prisoner, to do with as they pleased. And they did.
CHLOE: My god. Brady, I’m so sorry.
BRADY: Thanks.
He blinked hard, rubbed his face and cleared his throat.
BRADY: What about you, though? From what Belle and my Dad say, you’ve got a kid now?
CHLOE: Yeah, Parker. He’s about to turn eleven in just over a month. I had him with Daniel.
BRADY: Who?
CHLOE: Dr. Daniel Jonas. Sorry, I forgot, you wouldn’t have met him yet.
BRADY: There’s a lot of people in Salem I still have yet to meet. I did meet Theresa pretty early on, due to the rather complex situation with me and the other me.
CHLOE: That’s understandable. I’m sure John and Marlena will help you settle in.
BRADY: Yeah, Marlena’s already talked to me about having some sessions with one of her colleagues, both to reacclimate to life in Salem, and talk out what happened.
CHLOE: That’s great!
BRADY: So, I guess the question is, where does this leave us?
