Chapter 649
HORTON CENTER
ERIC: Honestly, there’s a chance you may have met one already. Or, at the very least, that you know of one. One of your half-sisters lives here in Salem.
JADE: Really? Which of them lives here?
ERIC: Nicole Walker.
JADE: The lady who does the 6 O’Clock News for TitanTV? She’s one of my sisters?
ERIC: Yes. Your other half-sister, Taylor, lives somewhere in Paris.
JADE: Wow. That’s kinda cool, actually. Do you think I can meet Nicole properly sometime?
ERIC: Well, not immediately, since she’s still off on her honeymoon. But, once she gets back, which should be in a few days, I’m sure there will be a chance for you to meet her.
JADE: Awesome!
ERIC: Jade, just a word of advice, when you do meet her, starting off by saying you’re Paul Mendez’s daughter probably won’t go over very well.
JADE: Yeah, I figured that from everything Jan told me about him.
ERIC: Aside from that, two men recently tried to scam her by claiming one of them was a long lost brother she never knew about. You remember those two men who were murdered at the Halloween party at the hospital?
JADE: Yeah. That’s who those guys were?
Eric nodded.
JADE: Gotcha. Well, if nothing else, that just means I’ll have to think harder of how to tell Nicole what’s going on.
Jade looked at her watch.
JADE: But right now, it’s time to check on Emmy. I’ll be back n a little bit.
ERIC: Sounds good.
AIRPORT SHUTTLE - LONDON, ENGLAND
Cassie had gotten on the shuttle Nicholas had advised her to get on. As the shuttle got started, she looked at the paper Nicholas had given her.
CASSIE (to herself): Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel.
JOHN: Nice place. Not a bad location.
Cassie looked up when she heard a familiar voice. She hadn’t realized until just now that who man who had sat down next to her just before the shuttle had started was.
CASSIE: John?
JOHN: Good to see you again, kid.
CASSIE: What are you doing here?
JOHN: I’ll explain in detail later. For now, all you need to know is that I got a call from a mutual acquaintance of ours, and am on top of the situation. As it happens, the Renaissance is my stop, as well.
CASSIE: So you’re-
John put a finger to his mouth, but nodded slightly.
JOHN: Not right here. I try never to have private conversations in public. Like I said, I’ll explain later. But soon, all will become clear.
CASSIE: Okay, then.
JENNIFER’S HOUSE
The front door opened and Carly walked in.
CARLY: I’m back.
Jennifer came in from the kitchen.
JENNIFER: Welcome back. How was your day?
CARLY: All right. Today was mostly filling in this week’s clinic hours. Getting them out of the way before my time in surgery at the end of the week.
JENNIFER: That makes sense.
CARLY: Thanks again for letting me stay here for a few days, Jen.
JENNIFER: No problem. I’m happy to have you!
CARLY: So, how was your day?
JENNIFER: Interesting. I met one of my cousins on my Uncle Tommy’s side. She’s...to put it politely, she’s something.
CARLY: I see.
Carly’s phone went off.
CARLY: Excuse me a moment.
Carly picked up her phone.
CARLY: Dr. Manning.
NICHOLAS (over the phone): Hello, mother. It’s me. I know our last conversation didn’t go as well as either of us had hoped, but we need to talk.
