ABE: It is correct that I wasn’t in the room, as I was otherwise occupied. I was in the restroom. You can feel free to check the cameras if you don’t want to take my word for it...I understand that this needs to be done by the book, and I applaud you for doing your job so well, but I do not see what my going to the bathroom has to do with this.

The day before the Halloween Party…

HORTON CENTER
JADE: What’s the news?
ERIC: We’re a little bit closer to tracking down Simone. The cops that my Aunt Hope is communicating with say that they’ve seen a woman matching Simone’s description, but were unable to take her in for questioning. They spoke to a few locals, however, who confirmed that she does live in town, and they were provided with an address. All they have to do is get a warrant, and they should be able to search the house and find Emmy.
JADE: You mean, they’re close to catching her?
ERIC: That’s the way it sounds, they’re just waiting on the judge to grant the warrant.
JADE: This is awesome! Thank you so much, Eric!
ERIC: You’re welcome. I figured you would be pleased.
JADE: You have no idea! This means I might get to see Emmy soon!
Eric nodded.
ERIC: The hardest part is that we need to be patient. If it were up to me, I’d go down there myself and bring her home, but we can’t. We have to let the police do their jobs. We have to have faith that God will move the judge’s heart to grant that warrant.
JADE: I really hope so! I just can’t wait to see my little girl again!

SALEM UNIVERSITY
Claire and Chase were sitting in one of the study rooms.
CLAIRE: I’m so excited for the party tomorrow!
CHASE: Me too! Do you, Ciara and Trix have your thing all ready?
CLAIRE: Yep. We spent some time practicing this morning before we came over. This is gonna be awesome!
CHASE: Definitely.
CLAIRE: So, what are you coming as?
CHASE: You’ll see. I think you’ll like it.
Chase and Claire kissed.

ABE’S HOUSE
Abe brought a suitcase down the stairs.
ABE: Theo would’ve been here to see you off, but he has class today and, well you know Theo, he likes to be as early as possible.
CELESTE: That’s all right. We said our goodbyes after breakfast.
ABE: Good. It’s been good to see you, despite the circumstances.
CELESTE: You as well.
Celeste picked up her suitcase.
CELESTE: Be careful, Abraham.
ABE: What do you mean?
CELESTE: I mean what I said. Be careful. I had a vision this morning as I was packing. There is a great darkness in Salem.
ABE: Well, we all know that, André DiMera’s still in town.
CELESTE: I’m being serious, Abraham.
ABE: So am I.
CELESTE: All I’m saying is, be careful, darling. Death has not left Salem yet. There will be another.

Celeste's parting words are ominous!

I'm so curious about that opening scene. I hope Abe isn't accused of a crime! Maybe it's part of his plan to get Mendez's partner.

I hope there's not a murder at the party. That was a creepy warning Celeste gave.

And, I hope Eric is right that the cops are close to getting Emmy back. I'm glad he understands he can't go running after Simone himself.

ERIC: I wasn’t in the room at the time, so I don’t know how much I can really be to you, but I’ll do my best. I was helping a young person whom I counsel at the Horton Center who was having a rather difficult time. As for what happened…
Eric shook his head.
ERIC: I really don’t know that much.

The Halloween Party…

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Several people in Salem had gathered in the cafeteria of the hospital, which had been reconfigured for a party. It was decorated with pumpkins, bats, spiderwebs, and all kind of Halloween themed decorations. Kayla, dressed in black with a mask and cat ears, walked to the front of the room, where there was a microphone.
KAYLA: Good evening!
There were several claps from the partygoers.
KAYLA: Welcome, everyone, to the first of what we here at the hospital are hoping to be annual University Hospital Halloween Party!
Several more people clapped.
KAYLA: Okay, so we are gonna have a lot of fun tonight, but first, some ground rules. Please make sure you stay on this floor. This is still a hospital, there are still patients here, and unless you know them, there’s no need to go wandering onto the other floors. If you’d like to take a break from dancing, there are plenty of tables around to sit at. Bathrooms are down the hall to your left. To your left, there is a smaller, lounge like area, which is open to you if you feel you need to take a break. Food and drinks are available in the form of a buffet, which is up against the back wall. Most important, have fun! This is supposed to be an enjoyable night. So, let’s get this party started!
Everyone clapped and the music started. CLICK HERE to listen to what’s playing. Several of the couples started dancing. Jade, dressed in a Magenta from Rocky Horror costume, went over to the punch bowl and poured some into a cup. A few minutes later, Joey, who was dressed like Freddie Mercury, walked over. He didn’t seem to notice Jade at first, Then, he looked up.
JOEY: So, you’re back.
JADE: Yep. Been back a while, actually.
Joey nodded.
JOEY: I got your letter, by the way.
JADE: And?
Joey shrugged.
JADE: I meant what I said in it.
JOEY: I know. So, where’s your kid?
Jade looked down.
JADE: My aunt stole her from me.
NICOLE: Gotta say, they really pulled it off.
DANIEL: Yep, this place looks great!
NICOLE: I just wish we didn’t have to deal with you-know-who.
DANIEL: Hey, do not, Nicole, do not let anyone spoil our evening.
NICOLE: You’re right. Like Kayla said, tonight’s about having fun, which I intend to do.
Mr. Green, dressed in a Phantom mask, walked over.
GREEN: Mind if I cut in?
NICOLE: Actually, I do. You’re not cutting in on this or any other dance tonight, or any night for that matter.
GREEN: Are you very sure about that?

I wonder if Green will end up dead by the end of the night given this investigation that appears to be happening later.

I also wonder who's going to go on another floor since Kayla told everyone not to.

I wonder if Joey will believe Jade.

Nope, I don’t do a Monday show anymore. As of two weeks ago, I do a show on a different station on Wednesday nights. I’ll be doing a Halloween themed show on Halloween night.

JADE: I have no idea what you’re talking about. I mean, yes, it was a stressful night, but there were good parts, too. Look, I know I was a troublemaker in high school. I know that I was a bully, but I’ve changed since then. Having a baby changes you. Besides, I don’t even know these people. Why would I have anything to do with it?

NICOLE: More sure than ever. Now listen to me, you and your little stooge Dante need to get out of here. You can both go to hell where you belong, I don’t really care where you go, as long as it’s far away from me.
Mr. Green chuckled darkly.
GREEN: We’ll be seeing you later, Nicole.
Mr. Green walked away. Daniel put a hand on Nicole’s shoulder. Nicole sighed.
DANIEL: You okay?
NICOLE: I will be. I just want to forget all about Green and his protege and have fun with my fiancee.
DANIEL: That sounds good to me.
Nicole and Daniel went back to dancing.
NICOLE: You know, after this is all over, I’m gonna hold you to that promise we made each other. I mean, obviously, you needed time to recover after the accident, and I had to sort things out with my life, but I’m tired of waiting.
DANIEL: I couldn’t agree more. As soon as this mess is cleared up, no more pushing it back. We’re setting a date because I cannot, Nicole, I cannot wait to be your husband.
Nicole and Daniel kissed. Jade had explained what happened with Emmy to Joey.
JOEY: Wow. I’m sorry to hear that.
JADE: Thanks. I guess Hope is working with some police in Ohio to get her back.
JOEY: Aunt Hope’s a good cop. If anyone can help find Emmy, she’ll be able to.
Jade nodded.
JADE: It’s good to see you again, Joey.
Joey sighed.
JADE: I’m not trying to flirt or anything. I know that what we had was over a long time ago, thanks to my stupidity. But, I mean it, it’s nice to see you.
JOEY: I know what you mean. And it’s not bad to see you either, now that you’ve changed, at least a little bit.
Steve and Kayla were among those dancing.
STEVE: You all here at the hospital put on a great party, Sweetness.
KAYLA: Thank you. It’s turning out to be a beautiful evening.
Steve nodded, then he and Kayla kissed. David went over to the food area and got a soda. At the same time as he went into the cooler for one, so did Carly.
CARLY: David.
DAVID: Dr. Manning, hi.
CARLY: Hi. You know, you can call me Carly, since we’re not on the clock.
DAVID: All right, Carly.
CARLY: Enjoying the party so far?
DAVID: Totally! I love Halloween! You?
CARLY: It’s very nice. I see you’re dressed as a doctor.
DAVID: Oh, I borrowed some of Scott’s scrubs. Surprised they fit me, actually. What about you?
CARLY: Annie Wilkes.
DAVID: The crazy lady from Misery? I love that movie! It’s one of my favorites!
CARLY: Mine too!
David and Carly smiled at each other.
DAVID: Say, um, Carly...would you like to dance with me?
