Chapter 309
SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Philip paced the floor of the hospital. He walked over to the circulation desk.
PHILIP: Is there any news yet?
MAXINE: No, Philip, not yet. As soon as there is something to tell you, either I or Dr. Horton will tell you.
Philip nodded and continued pacing. Maggie walked out of the elevator.
PHILP: Maggie.
MAGGIE: Philip.
Philip and Maggie hugged.
MAGGIE: I got the call a few minutes ago. What happened?
PHILIP: Titus. Victor's brother, that's what happened. Apparently he and André are in cahoots. André put together a dinner party with Titan, DiMera Enterprises and Alamain Industries. But, before the dinner even got started, Titus showed up acting crazy, throwing around these accusations that Victor killed his son, Deimos.
MAGGIE: But, that's preposterous!
PHILIP: I know! But, Titus wouldn't listen. He aimed for me, but...but father got in the way.
Maggie took Philip's hand and the two sat down.
MAGGIE: Have the doctors said anything?
PHILIP: No. All I know is, Tommy's looking after him.
MAGGIE: Well, that's good. Tommy is an excellent doctor. He takes after his father.
Maggie squeezed Philip's hand.
MAGGIE: I'm sure Victor will be all right. He has to be, or we'll call Caroline and the three of us will give him hell.
Philip nodded.
PHILIP: Where are the others?
MAGGIE: Sonny and Will are on their way. Justin's in Tunisia on business, and Brady and Theresa are still in Wales on vacation. But, I've alerted everyone.
Tommy walked into the waiting room. Philip and Maggie stood.
PHILIP: Dr. Horton, how is my father?
TOMMY: He'll be all right. He was very lucky. The bullet did break the skin, but it stopped just inside. We were able to get it out easily. He has a few broken ribs, as that's where the bullet hit. He'll be sore for a while, and I would like to keep him tonight for observation. Other than that, he'll be just fine.
Both Philip and Maggie sighed with relief.
PHILIP: Thank god!
MAGGIE: Thank you, Tommy. Can we go see him?
TOMMY: Of course. He's in Room 279.
Philip and Maggie walked to the room Tommy had told them. Victor was lying in bed, connected to a heart rate machine.
PHILIP: Father.
MAGGIE: Victor.
Maggie gave Victor a hug.
VICTOR: I'm all right. In fact, Dr. Horton says I'm in excellent condition for a man who's just been shot.
MAGGIE: You'd better be. Don't you ever scare me like that again, Victor Kiriakis.
VICTOR: Believe me, my dear, I shall make every endeavor not to be shot by my psychotic younger brother again.
PHILIP: I'm glad you're all right.
VICTOR: As am I.
PHILIP: You, uh, you saved my life tonight.
VICTOR: You're my son, Philip. No matter what disagreements we may have, family is everything to me.
Philip took Victor's hand.
VICTOR: So, what happened to Titus?
PHILIP: I don't know. He, André and the waitress disappeared by the time we figured out what happened.
MAGGIE: Well, wherever he is, he can't have gone too far.
ALLEYWAY
André pulled out his phone.
ANDRE: I'm going to need your assistance. The alleyway behind the Penthouse Grille. There's a mess I need you to clean up.
