Love this chapter! Her vows were so much more honest than Philip's because she didn't have time to second-guess or edit her words, she spoke directly from her heart. It doesn't get any better than that!!!!

Chapter 55
The morning light filtered in through the window in the suite. On any other morning, Philip might have gotten up and dressed and taken a brisk walk around the deck. He worked hard to stay in shape which was often harder with a prosthetic. But this morning was different. This morning Chloe was keeping him occupied, her body pressed on top of his, her hair flowing freely over his face and chest and she pressed her lips all over his body. The gentle rocking motion of the yacht made her actions even more sultry. This morning was maybe the best morning of his life.
He folded his arms around his bride and rolled her onto her back, laughing with joy between kisses.
After a bliss-filled morning in bed, Philip and Chloe went up on deck to take in the view as the yacht headed back to shore. Their long weekend was at an end and the real world was coming into view.
Philip had Chloe locked in his arms from behind, standing in the same spot where they stood for the sail-away. His lips were next to her ear, when he said, “I think I can say without a doubt that this was the best vacation of my life.”
She leaned her head back on his shoulder. “Mmm. Mine too. Even without the unexpected surprises.”
“You mean the wedding ceremony?”
“Yeah. I feel like a different person somehow.
“How so?”
“I don’t know. Relaxed. Content. Happy.”
Kissing her ear, he laughed. “Now we have to figure out a way to keep you happy in dry dock.”
“Very funny,” she scoffed. Rubbing his arms as he held her from behind, she nodded. “I think we will be happy, Philip. I know it doesn’t just happen on its own, but I just have a good feeling that we’re off to a good start.”
“Me too. Ready to go home?”
“No. Not really. This weekend went way too fast. Except I’m dying to see Parker. I miss him so much. Even though we talked a few times, it’s not the same. I’m longing to give him a big hug.”
“Me too,” he sighed. “I guess we should go back to our stateroom and finish packing.”

Content isn't a word I usually associate with either of these two....which makes it even better to hear! Looking forward to a reunion with Parker...

I'm looking forward to seeing Parker.
I hope Chloe and Philip's happiness lasts and that they hold onto this if times get tough.

I'm very happy that Chloe and Philip enjoyed their last day at sea. I hope they stay blissful when they return to real life.

Chapter 56
It was Tuesday afternoon. Philip and Chloe arranged for their luggage to be sent directly to the condo, while they took a cab from the cruise pier to the office to pick up Parker from daycare.
Sitting in the back seat with his arm around Chloe, Philip felt like a man whose dreams had finally come true. He had the woman he loved by his side. They were returning from a dream vacation. They had a fantastic time and enjoyed each other’s company every moment. And now they were about to return to the company he ran and pick up their son. A perfect life.
“I love you, Miss Lane,” he murmured between kisses.
With her forehead resting against his, Chloe said, “I love you too.” Music to his ears. “But you know what I’d like?”
“Tell me,” he said, giving her another kiss.
“I’d like to hear you call me Mrs. Kiriakis.”
“Oh I will,” he agreed, moving from her lips to her neck. “All the time.”
“Um. I meant now,” Chloe clarified.
“Well, now, I can call you the future Mrs. Kiriakis.”
Chloe leaned away and scowled. “What do you mean ‘future Mrs. Kiriakis’? We got married yesterday.”
Philip blinked. Then he blinked again. “Chloe. We … we didn’t get married.”
“Very funny.”
Uh oh. “Sweetheart, I’m not joking. We … we didn’t get married.”
“Philip, don’t make me worry about you. It wasn’t a dream. I was there. So were you. And so was the captain and crew. And we got married,” she insisted.
Philip sat up straighter in his seat. He wasn’t expecting this, not at all. He rubbed his forehead. “Actually, we didn’t. We had a wedding ceremony.”
“You lost me,” she said, squinting at him. “What’s the difference?
Looking straight ahead, he explained, “Well, one is legal and the other is um a formality.”
“What???”
Philip looked back at her. “Sweetheart, I thought you realized—“
“Realized what?”
His throat felt dry all of a sudden. He didn’t think he had to explain. “That it was … just a service, an intimate ceremony like you said you’ve been wanting. But it wasn’t legal. It wasn’t the actual wedding. That’s still in June.”
“Philip! Stop! I’m completely confused.”
Taking her hand, he said, “Chloe, a ship’s captain doesn’t have the authority to marry anyone. That’s just a myth. I thought everyone knew that.”
She pulled her hand away and faced front, staring at the back of the taxi driver’s head. “Not everyone.”

I didn't know that either.
Philip should have made that clear.

Noooooooooo!!!!
In Chloe's defense, I didn't know that was a myth, either. But Chloe, while it's fine for her to be disappointed and maybe even a little upset, should still be able to take that ceremony for what it was--the affirmation that she wanted, in the way she wanted, planned specifically to make her happy. Hoping that she'll understand that when she has a minute to process...
Any chances we'll get a preview, boss??

I wasn't aware of that, either. Would've been nice of Philip to mention that earlier. Can we please have previews, Kpatch?

I didn't know either! Thanks for your readership and comments this week, everyone. When I came up with the idea of Philip and Chloe getting married by a captain on their yacht vacation, I didn’t know captains don’t have the authority to marry people either. I’ve been on cruises and seen weddings (before setting sail), so I thought it was legitimate. (Apparently they bring a clergy person on board for the ceremony before sailing.) Then I started to do some research to see what the parameters were, and I learned captains can’t marry people, at least not modern-day captains. So I’m in the same boat as the rest of you. Pun intended. Previews Coming this week, that moment of contentment proves to be short-lived. There will be some drama from the fallout of the non-wedding reveal. Philip tries to reason with Chloe and smooth things over before they see Parker, so Parker doesn’t pick up on the tension.
