Great chapter Kpatch. It is finally starting to sink in to Jack that he may be gone much longer than he anticipated. I can't wait to see what Jack encounters next.

THIS is how I expect it to go. Jennifer should be smart enough to realize that Jack would NEVER abandon his family voluntarily. Quite frankly, if the show does anything less than this I'll be very disappointed. Kpatch rocks!!!

U.S.S. VANGUARD
The next morning when I woke up, I noticed the ship wasn’t moving. I looked out the porthole and I saw we were moored at sea. Land was nowhere in sight.
Mark came bolting into the room. Mark: Let’s go, man. Time to scramble. Jack: What does that mean? Mark: It means the adventure is starting.
I got dressed quickly and made my way topside. There was a lot of activity all around. I felt my heart pounding as I was ushered onto a helicopter along with seven other men. My bunkmate Darin was one of those seven -- the one flying the helicopter. I found that comforting.
They had outfitted me with a lot of gear and we were all in camouflage. I asked where we were going but no one answered. In a situation like this (come to think of it, I’ve never been in a situation like this), I usually start to tell jokes, but I couldn’t think of any. By this point, my heart was pounding so loudly it was drowning out all my thoughts. I admit I was scared.
We lifted off and were in the air for about 45 minutes. When the helicopter descended, I started to feel ill. As we got out of the helicopter, one of the men spoke. “Stick with me. Like glue.” I nodded. He didn’t need to tell me twice.
The terrain was rugged and I felt proud that a “middle aged man” like me could keep up. A sandstorm briefly stirred up and when it died down, I found myself alone. I didn’t see my comrades and I knew I was in trouble. I heard the sound of a click behind me and before I could turn around I felt the cold metal of a gun barrel pressing against my ear.
To be continued ...

He apparently didn't "stick like glue" if he found himself up close and personal with a gun!! Great chapter, can't wait to read what happens next!!

It sounds like the sandstorm is what separated Jack from the soldiers and why he can't see any of them. Of course there is always the possibility that it was a giant set up from the beginning - I always suspect the Dimeras first but I guess in this case it could be the fog of war (and sand). Great story Kpatch! I'm impressed that you are writing such a gripping military adventure - you're just spreading your creative wings in all sorts of new directions lately and doing a fantastic job with all of them!

Looking forward to more jkjpatch! You always weave a tale and make me like characters (only in your stories) that I normally despise. LOL
