Great chapter Kpatch. Jack is in for a wild ride. I am looking forward to seeing how Jennifer and Abby react when they find out the truth.
Will there be previews this weekend Kpatch? You know I always want to read more!

U.S.S. VANGUARD
It took a few days for me to get my sea legs but I finally did. Not being able to communicate with anyone outside the ship was driving me crazy. They gave me a computer with no Internet access just so I could chronicle the shipboard experience, but there wasn’t much to say. As each day went by, I got the feeling that there was something else in store, something else they wanted me to write about. But no one was talking. At least not to me.
I admit I felt like a bit of a chump. When they told me I’d be chronicling a mission, I figured they meant that day, or maybe the next day. It didn’t occur to me that I would be gone for days ... weeks ... months ... or longer. I wondered how Jennifer and the kids were doing. Something in my gut told me that Mrs. Horton had passed and I wept inwardly.
My bunkmate Darin and I became pretty good friends, despite a shaky start. I told him about my family and he told me that he had a girlfriend back home who he missed and that he liked to write poetry for her. I was surprised he had a creative side to his personality. We were lying in our bunks one afternoon when he showed me a poem he wrote for her about sunsets.
Darin: I haven’t shown this to anybody else, so go easy on me. I read it. Jack: Not half bad. Darin: Thanks. Jack: This is a haiku. Darin: A high what? Jack: A haiku. It’s a very specific and pretty sophisticated kind of poem. Darin: Hey, look at me. I’m sophisticated! Ha ha. Jack: I think your girlfriend will like it. Darin: Hope I get to give it to her in person.
I looked over at Darin and saw that he was dead serious. I started to think about Jennifer. And Abby. And Jack Junior. I couldn’t imagine what kind of communications were being sent to my family or that Jennifer would even for a minute believe that I was on a walkabout. She’s too smart to be fooled and she knows me too well. At least I hope she does.
JENNIFER’S OFFICE, SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Abby: You okay, Mom? Jennifer: Oh my god. If this is true... If... Jennifer started to cry and Abby comforted her. Both of them were crying as they continued reading the article.
U.S.S. VANGUARD
Jack: I think your girlfriend will like it. Darin: Hope I get to give it to her in person. Jack: Why would you say that? Darin: You’re not supposed to ask questions, remember? Jack: Just between us. Darin: Um. Sometimes things get a little ... dangerous in my line of work. Jack: I’m sure you’ll get the chance to give it to her yourself.
To be continued...

Boy they picked the wrong guy if they wanted no questions asked. Jack would never not ask questions. I like the way the shock is setting in on Jen that Jack did not just leave her. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

Poor Jack..I can sense how this is upsetting him not being able to ask questions or contact his family!
