I should have guessed that's what it was. I LOVE the ferris wheel at Navy Pier! It's really cool! You can see much of Chicago from the top! Great chapter, Kpatch!

What a fun surprise! I'm glad Chloe didn't let her nervousness derail the Ferris wheel ride.

Chapter 68a
Trying to distract herself, she asked Philip, “What do you know about childbirth anyway?”
Philip turned and looked at her with surprise. “Are you kidding me? Need I remind you I was right there in the cabin with you when Parker was born?” He took her hand and kissed her knuckles. He lowered his voice and added, “Holding your hand every minute.”
“Like always,” Chloe said quietly.
“And heaven forbid I forget, you remind me every chance you get.” Mimicking her, he teased, “Every time you wanted me to do something around the condo, you’d say, ‘Phiiiilip, can you change the lightbuuuulb? I went through chiiiildbirth so it’s the least you can doo-ooo.’”
Chloe tried to stifle her laughter because he was semi-insulting her but he was right on target. “Really Philip? Was that supposed to be an impression of what I sound like?”
“Yeah.” He smiled broadly, displaying his dimples. “Pretty good, huh?”
She shook her head slowly. “That’s not what I sound like. Not even close.”
“Yes it is. That’s exactly what you sound like.”
“No it’s not.” She relaxed a little and looked out the window as the gondola conveyed them upward. “How long is this ride anyway?
“You’re the one who planned this date. Don’t you know?”
“Yes,” she said looking away from him out the gondola window. “I was just making small talk to keep from thinking about my claustrophobia and to get you to stop making fun of me.”
Philip slipped his arms around Chloe from behind and pulled her toward him. “I am never going to stop making fun of you,” he said against her ear, “so get used to it.”

Aww what sweet scenes. I'm glad Philip teasing Chloe didn't lead to a fight. I hate being mimicked so I was holding my breath. LOL I agree with melly. I would love some previews.

Wow, what a week, right? Parker. George. Dates. Ferris wheels. Thank you all for continuing to read and comment and being enthusiastic no matter this story throws at you. You all are awesome!
I can't reveal too much in the way of previews for next week. All I can say about the week ahead is that the Ferris wheel ride continues, along with a surprise or two.

Chapter 68b
“I was just making small talk to keep from thinking about my claustrophobia and to get you to stop making fun of me.”
Philip slipped his arms around Chloe from behind and pulled her toward him. “I am never going to stop making fun of you,” he said against her ear, “so get used to it.”
She laughed lightly as he kissed her cheek and she nestled into Philip’s arms. She gazed out the window at the view. “The 10:00 p.m. ‘For Lovers Only’ ride is an hourlong trip,” she recited. “There are forty gondola cars and when you reach the top, you’re a hundred and fifty feet off the ground.”
“You’re not still afraid, are you?”
Lifting her head off of Philip’s shoulder, she turned around to face him and pretended to be insulted. “Who me? Of course not.”
“Liar.”
“No it’s true,” she insisted. His attempts to help her relax had worked. “There’s only one thing that scares me anymore.”
“And that would be?”
Choking up, she confessed, “The thought of losing you again.”
Philip sighed. “Then you have nothing to fear, sweetheart, because that’s not gonna happen. And,” he said as he slid over in his seat until he had Chloe pressed up against the wall of the gondola, “that comment earns you a kiss.”
“Mmm. I was hoping it would.” They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed under the stars above the glass-enclosed ferris wheel car — until the gondola started swaying again.
Chloe broke the kiss. “Oh my god!” Her voice went higher with a hint of panic. “What was that?”
