Chapter 11 AIRPLANE Mia and Nicole left Erinsborough early the next morning. They had taken an early flight to Alice Springs. For most of the trip, they had slept. Now, the plane was beginning its descent, and the two had woken up. NICOLE: How did you sleep? MIA: About as good as you can on an airplane. You? NICOLE: Same. MIA: So, Melbourne and Erinsborough were fun. NICOLE: Yeah, they were. MIA: I kinda wish we could have stayed longer, though. NICOLE: Saw you getting pretty friendly with Brad's son, Josh. MIA: He's a nice guy. And cute. NICOLE: His dad was the same when he was a teen. MIA: Do you think that, after the trip is over, maybe we could go back to Erinsborough for a while? NICOLE: We'll see. Probably. MIA: Sweet! ALICE SPRINGS AIRPORT (ALICE SPRINGS, NORTHERN TERRITORY, AUSTRALIA) Nicole and Mia got off the airplane and had gotten their bags. Then, they saw someone holding up a sign with the the name “Walker” on it. MIA: What's that all about? NICOLE: You'll see. They walked up. NICOLE: Are you looking for a Nicole Walker? MAN: Yep. Nicole Walker plus one more. NICOLE: Here we are. MAN: Follow me, please. The two followed the man into the parking lot. They each got in a black car. The man got into the driver's seat and drove away. NICOLE: We could have driven, you know. MAN: I was under special instructions to pick you two up. NICOLE: Where exactly are we going? MAN: A hotel. Not far from here at all. BEST WESTERN AKIRA They stopped at a Best Western. MIA: Wow. They still have Best Western's in Australia. NICOLE: They have a lot of the same stuff we have. Some of the food's different. The accents are different. The way of life is slightly different. But, it's still similar. MIA: I like it here. NICOLE: Me too. I was hoping you would, that's why I brought you here. The man opened the door for Nicole and Mia. The two got out. Quinn walked out of the hotel and over to Nicole and Mia. QUINN: Nikki, glad to see you. NICOLE: You too. Quinn and Nicole hugged. QUINN: And you must be Mia. MIA: Yeah. How did you know that? QUINN: Nicole told me you guys were coming. She looks a lot like you, Nikki. NICOLE: Thanks. MIA: So, who are you? QUINN: My name's Quinn. I'm your father. |

Whew! I thought Nicole and Mia were being kidnapped when they got into that car. LOL Great chapter André DiMera. So Quinn is Mia's father...interesting to see where this goes. |

Chapter 12 PAGE 27 CAFE As it was still late morning, and they hadn't gotten anything to eat yet, Quinn took Nicole and Mia down the street from their hotel to the nearby Page 27 Cafe. QUINN: So, Nicole already told you? MIA: Yep. She told me a while ago. QUINN: I still remember the day we found out Nikki was pregnant with you... HOSPITAL - FLASHBACK
Dr. Mike Horton walked into the room. Nicole is sitting on the examination table with Quinn sitting in a nearby chair.
MIKE: I have the results, Miss Walker.
NICOLE: And?
Mike handed Nicole a piece of paper.
MIKE: You're pregnant. And, it's a girl.
NICOLE: Oh, god.
QUINN: Nikki, this is great! This is just what we've been waiting for!
NICOLE: No, it's not.
QUINN: Why not?
NICOLE: Don't you get it? This is just another thing that my father will use against me. He can't ever know about this!
QUINN: He's gonna find out sooner or later.
NICOLE: I'll just have to make up an excuse or something. I will carry this baby all the way. But, it can never know its grandfather.
QUINN: Nik, you're not suggesting what I think you're suggesting. We can't.
NICOLE: We have to. Look at the situation we're in! This is no way to raise a baby! Once she's born, we have to give her up.
QUINN: You can't do this, Nicole!
MIKE: Actually, at the end of the day, it is Miss Walker's decision. True, you are both parents to the baby, though. I think I'll leave you two alone for now to discuss this in private.
NICOLE: Thank you, Dr. Horton. But, I just have one question.
MIKE: Yes?
NICOLE: When, it's time, when she comes, will you watch over her for me?
MIKE: I'll see what I can do.
Mike left the room.
PAGE 27 CAFE MIA: I know. She told me all about it. The whole story. You two going on the run from her dad. Her having to go through nine months of torture from her father because of it. All that stuff. NICOLE: I'm just really glad that I found you. MIA: So am I, mom. QUINN: When Nik told me you guys were coming to Australia, I knew I had to come back as soon as I could. NICOLE: So, how are things with Taylor? QUINN: Oh, that. Yeah, things didn't really work out. NICOLE: Gotcha. QUINN: It's all good, though. At least now I can come out here and make things right with our daughter. Mia picked up a packet of something that looked like jelly. MIA: What's this? She showed Quinn and Nicole the packet. QUINN: Oh, that's vegemite. Good stuff! It's just like jelly. You have it on toast with some butter. Yum. They don't have it in most other countries. MIA: How's it taste? QUINN: Excellent! Try some when your toast comes. MIA: I think I will. |

Woohoo vegemite! I hope it tastes better than it sounds.
Thanks for the flashback. Loved seeing Dr. Mike again.
I completely forgot about Taylor. So glad she's no longer in Quinn's life!

I like the flashback. It's sad that Nicole had to give up her baby to protect Mia from Nicole's evil father.
Quinn doesn't seem upset about Taylor.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Dear readers, I wish to start off by apologizing for the lack of a chapter on Friday and Saturday. It was my intention to post on those days. However, late Thursday night I became ill with a 48-72 hour virus. I wasn't up to doing much of anything, and I slept through most of Friday and Saturday. I started feeling better yesterday, but was still not 100%. Today, I am feeling better. There will be a Monday chapter, but it will not be until this evening. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. I hope all of you had a good weekend.

Chapter 13 PAGE 27 CAFE A little while later, the waitress brought everyone their breakfasts. Nicole had bacon, eggs and toast; Mia had sausage, eggs and toast; while Quin had pancakes. MIA: Well, here we go. Let's see what this is like. Mia picked up a packet of vegemite, opened it, and pulled out a glob of it on her knife. She put her knife down on a triangular piece of toast and spread the vegemite around. She took a bite, chewing thoughtfully for a moment. Then, she swallowed and made a face. MIA: Um...that was...interesting. QUIN: What d'you reckon by it? MIA: Like I said: interesting. She tried taking another bite, and made another face. QUIN: I take it from the face you're pulling that you don't like it? Mia put her toast down. MIA: I'm sorry. I'm sure that if I'd grown up out here and eaten since I was a kid, I'd like it. But, I've gotta be honest, I really don't like it. QUIN: No worries. It's not for everyone. If you're not gonna eat it, can I? MIA: Be my guest. Mia handed her toast with vegemite over to Quin. QUIN: Cheers. It's been ages since I've had vegemite. I've missed this stuff so much! Quin took a big bite. QUIN: Mm! Mia and Nicole looked at Quin. NICOLE (whispering): I agree with you, girl. That stuff doesn't taste very good. Mia laughed quietly. QUIN: You know, looking at this piece, I can see why you didn't like it. MIA: And why is that? QUIN: You put way too much on! MIA: What do you mean? QUIN: You're not supposed to put a huge glob of it on like that. You just have a really nice, thin layer. Tastes great when you use a little bit. You know what they say about too much of a good thing. MIA: Gotcha. NICOLE: So, I have a question. QUIN: I have an answer. NICOLE: What did happen between you and Taylor? |

I like seeing the three of them together at breakfast. Mia was cute trying a second bite of vegemite even though she didn't like it.
