After reading a recent article re:  the "5 Things Wrong With Days" on About.com, I was somewhat surprised by the last paragraph:

Granted Days is always more exciting when Eileen Davidson's Kristen is part of the mix. (Plus, having her make cameos as wacky Susan is always fun.) And it's been nice having Molly Burnett back as Melanie. The problem is only having these actors back for limited runs limits the plot possibilities. Since viewers know the deal, they don't invest in their storylines. As sweet as the romance between Brady and Melanie has been, everyone knows it's going to end when Burnett leaves the soap, again. The show would be wise to secure at least one-year commitments from anyone returning in the future, so storytelling with a beginning, middle and end can actually be told.


Has anyone heard anything about a possible exit by Molly Burnett? This article seems to suggest that she did not sign a lengthy deal with the show.


Also, there was mention on the most recent AfterBuzzTV Youtube show that James Read is also departing the show very soon!  For those interested in watching the small portion of discussion related to this, it is discussed from the 34:00-34:25 mark of the video:

Not sure if contract dates play a role at all(have heard that TPTB can choose to terminate them earlier), but James Read is under contract until Feb. 2015 and Molly Burnett until June 2016.

I was confused by the comment about Molly Burnett also @dukeblue. The article makes it sound like she only planned on being on DAYS a few months when clearly she signed a contract for over a year--exactly what the article complains that she didn't do.

I tend to think the article is inaccurate. I can't imagine that if MB were back short term we wouldn't know about it. I'd imagine she signed a 1 year only deal because she does projects outside of Days. Why be tied down when something might come up? TPTB seem to want her so badly that I'd imagine they'll renew her every year she wants to be on the show. But I can't lie that I'd be ELATED if her stint this time around is a short one. I'm going to assume the article is not accurate but HOPE that it is! (I'm also going to note that the writer is clearly delusional if they find this Brady/Melanie "romance" to be "sweet".)

I do totally agree about the Kristen comings/goings, but Eileen Davidson said once that it's not the kind of character you can have around long-term. I agree with her. Kristen is crazy and she needs big entrances/exits to shake things up. I like it more that way. What is disappointing to me is that we have to wait so long to see her. I'd rather they not announce it. When I know 6 months ahead of when she'll be on for only 6 weeks, I lose excitement by the time she airs. Then she's with Daniel for 4/6 weeks and I really lose excitement. The show is so tight-lipped about everything. I wish they'd keep Kristen's returns quiet until maybe 2-3 months out.

As for James Read, I like him A LOT but I really, really, really do not like Clyde getting the best of Victor. The show needs a new villain. Definitely. John Aniston and Joe Mascolo are not young men by any stretch. But for Clyde to have taken down EJ DiMera so easily and to now be running over Victor makes me disappointed and thus I wouldn't mind seeing Clyde go.

Stefano used to appear for a particular storyline and then disappear until his next story. Kristen is being used the same way.

After Clyde threatened Ciara I am thoroughly disgusted by him. His departure won't bother me. The only good thing about him is getting to see Victor on a regular basis.

The fact that the article calls Melanie and Brady's romance sweet completely destroys all credibility. I don't doubt that the info about her contract in incorrect too. Probably just some Molly fan trying to garner support for her.

If Clyde is gone I wouldn't care less especially considering he threatened Ciara who happens to be Victor's granddaughter, can you say coincidence? I bet Clyde knew that and that is why he did it but Clyde he is probably responsible for what happened to Victor's great-nephew Sonny when Sonny was stabbed

There was speculation that Days firings would be made yesterday as their 2 week dark period begins.

Seriously? They fire her before Ben or Paige? That makes no sense. I love MA, but I won't miss Serena. However, there are others I'd rather see go than her!

If Aiden or Paul go before Ben or Paige, we know there's no point in being excited for Higley's return. I hope those are the only two newbies they keep!!

They probably need Aiden around for at least a little while, for all of the Bo and Hope drama.

Not sure what they are planning to do with Will and Sonny.

I thought it was pretty obvious from her character type that Serena wasn't a long-timer. Glad she's going. She can take Will with her.
