I've noticed that all new females seem to fail, but the males don't. It's like Tomlin couldn't come up with decent stories for the women: Sheryl. Jordan. Paige. Eve. Serena. Melanie (I know she's not "new" but since her return she's really had no story other than being a brat and having sex with Brady.) Whereas both Paul and Aiden have been fabulous additions and have compelling stories. I suppose Ben is the outlier. He's male and he also lacks a purpose. Maybe that ruins my theory! I'd say Theresa has been a successful addition. It took a while but for the most part now, I think the character and actress are pretty popular. I know she's become one of my favorites. To me, so often I get the sense that people are brought on before the writers even know what they're going to do with them. Jordan is a prime example of that. I always felt that the writers just said, "okay we're going to bring on Chrishelle Straus as a new love interest for Rafe. She'll play a character with a big secret. We'll figure out what that is later." I'm not sure if they if did.

I'm not quite sure Theresa is a successful character. And I am not even sure she's even that popular. But personally I think the reason she's lasted this long is mainly because of the actress. I think JL is quite a great find. But the writing hasn't done her any favors. I think Jordan and Serena have suffered worse in terms of writing. If Higley is planning to put Brady and Nicole back together, (which I think is a bad idea), I don't know what other love interest Theresa can have.

Days could survive without Theresa. Her character isn't doing anything anyways. I wish she would leave along with Serena & Jordan. I'm so ready for Belle & Shawn come back to Days! Days def needs a face life. Get rid of all the boring characters & bring back the characters that bring life to the show & keep it going. There is nothing going on on Days that is so exciting that I can't wait for the next day. TPTB should take writing cues from the writers at Y&R and let some exciting and thrill seeking things that happen on Y&R happen on Days. There's nothing exciting going on and most of the SL are going in circles and are tirelessly boring

I think Theresa is moderately successful, in the sense that lots of fans would like to see her and Brady back together and are sick of seeing her in garbage storylines. But even so, it took two years for her to have any story other than being part of Anne's "I Hate Hortons" club, and now she seems to be the third wheel in her own storyline. I mean, Kristen stealing her baby should be a front-burner storyline in which she gradually remembers what was done to her and searches for her child. Instead, she gets to jump in bed with a Dimera goon every other day and snipe constantly at Melanie, while the story doesn't really go anywhere. JL got to do some good scenes with Theresa's emotional reactions to pregnant women or babies, but now even that seems to be gone. Theresa seems to be given the Nicole treatment lately. Great actress, character that could be an awesome mixed bag of schemey defenses against being hurt and a good heart, and so the writers don't seem to know what to do with her.

I agree. Theresa needs a better purpose. The sad part is that Theresa can still be salvaged as a character and this baby story should be on fire already. But it seems like it just got pushed aside for the stupid Melanie/Brady romance. I think this storyline could have been so much better if more stuff happened. At least Theresa is not a complete failure like Jordan and Serena. It's funny how even after all of the John coma story happened, people are still rooting for Theresa. I am pretty sure it's not the writing that brought on this result. I am still anxious about whether or not Higley and Griffith might want anything to do with Theresa at this point. Actually I am shocked that so many people are pulling for Brady and Theresa, but I can see why.

Actually I am shocked that so many people are pulling for Brady and Theresa, but I can see why. Yes, Theresa succeeds to the degree that she does despite the writing. First of all, the John storyline would have been a good chance to redeem her character somewhat. They could have sent her out of town for a few weeks (because you know, jail sentences and/or stints in rehab go fast in Salem) and then she comes back and neither the audience nor her fellow Salemites are sure whether she's really changed or is just playing them again. The fact that she totally got away with almost killing John and doesn't seem to have much remorse over it makes it hard for me to root for Theresa, yet I hate that her baby was stolen from her. I would have liked to have seen Theresa be the one to realize something is fishy about Clint, not Melanie. I would have liked for Theresa to realize her child is alive and enter a reluctant alliance with Nicole, who is a bit triggered by the whole thing because of what happened to her babies, to find the baby. But no, instead Theresa is just mean to everyone while Melanie gloats over how much better she is for Brady and tells no one why she was investigating Dr. Mandrake.

Yeah, I didn't like what Theresa did to John but that's not going to stop me for rooting for her in this story. Just because what she did to John wasn't right doesn't mean that what Clint is planning to do to her is right either. Two wrongs don't make a right. I hate that they took away her street smarts and made her so stupid. This story made me hate Melanie even more than I already did, and I was willing to give her a chance despite of her reputation. Melanie storming into Theresa's apartment and screaming at her was the last straw for me. I wanted Theresa to slap her and punch her in the face. And when Theresa told her that she was going to sue her for harassment, I thought, honey, you should sue for stalking and trespassing too!
The park scene with Theresa and Brady the other day felt like catharsis to me because it showed Theresa actually expressing some true remorse for what she did to John and Brady and she seemed heartbroken that she lost Brady the way she did. And she seemed particularly worried about him seeing her as a monster, and I was taken aback when Brady told her that he didn't think of her as a monster.
