Chapter 8

BO & HOPE'S HOUSE
Bo, Hope, and Shawn-D are sitting down on the couch in the living room.
BO: So, you said you had something to talk to us about.
SHAWN-D: Yeah, I do. I hope it's okay with you guys, but I invited a friend to dinner.
HOPE: Oh, that's fine.
BO: Who's the friend?
SHAWN-D: Oh, just a friend from high school.
BO: Be more specific. You had several.
There is a knock on the door.
SHAWN-D: Oh, that must be her.
BO: Her?
Shawn-D gets up and opens the door. Of course, it's Jan. She walks in.
JAN: Hey.
SHAWN-D: Hey. Mom, Dad, you remember Jan, right?
JAN: Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Brady.
HOPE: Hi, Jan.
Bo stands up.
BO: Shawn, I just remembered something I wanted to show you. Come upstairs with me for a minute.
So, Shawn-D followed Bo upstairs.

BO & HOPE'S BEDROOM
Bo and Shawn-D walked into the bedroom that Bo and Hope slept in. Bo shut the door behind him as he walked in.
BO: Sit down.
Shawn-D sat on the bed.
BO: What is she doing here?
SHAWN-D: Well, you said it was all right that I invited a friend.
BO: Yeah, I know I said it was all right for you to invite a friend. Now, I want to know what Jan Spears is doing in my house.
SHAWN-D: She's my friend.
BO: Since when?
SHAWN-D: Since she got out of jail.
BO: Shawn-Douglas, what is going on here?
SHAWN-D: Nothing is going on here. The only thing that's going on here is that I asked you if I could invite a friend, you said yes, I invited a friend, and you are making a big deal out of it.
BO: Right, so you expect me to believe that there is nothing going on between you and Jan? Do you think I'm stupid? Do I look stupid to you? Don't answer that. What in the world has that girl done to you to make you believe that the two of you are friends?
SHAWN-D: We are friends, dad. She hasn't done anything to me. She got out of prison, we met up one afternoon, we started talking. She's changed. She's not crazy anymore.
BO: Yeah, I'll believe that when I see it.
SHAWN-D: Look, let's just get through this dinner. I'll tell you more later.
So, the two of them went back downstairs. The dinner went surprisingly well. Sure, there was barely any talking during the meal, but when there was, it was...civil, at best. Bo and Hope weren't quite sure what to think about all this.

THE PIER
Philip is standing on the docks. He is on his cell phone.
PHILIP: Come on, pick up! Hey, it's me. You need to come home as soon as you can. Call me.
He hung up the phone. Melanie walked up.
MELANIE: Hey, what's going on?

Bo was a lot nicer than I would have been!!!

Ohhhh I sure hope that Philip was calling Belle and telling her to get home. At first I thought Kate, but Kate would not care about Shawn D expect if she was tring to get Belle and Philip bact together. I am shocked that Hope and Bo let Jan stay for supper. Loved Bo's reaction. Thanks for the chapter Andre.

Philip has to be calling Belle, but what will happen? I don't know if I could understand my husband's behavior with this..

I'm surprised not a peep out of Hope! I certainly wouldn't be quiet!

I loved it when Bo asked "Do I look stupid" and then told Shawn not to answer that. LOL.

I think Bo and Hope should send Shawn to his room without dinner and take away his videogame privileges, just for being soooo dumb.

Chapter 8b

BO & HOPE'S HOUSE
By this time, dinner was over. Bo was doing the dishes.
HOPE: I think I left the iron on upstairs. Shawn, why don't you come with me, please.
So, Shawn-D and Hope went upstairs.

BO & HOPE'S BEDROOM
Shawn-D and Hope walked in. Hope pointed to the bed.
HOPE: Sit.
Shawn-D sat down.
HOPE: Shawn-Douglas Brady, what the hell is going on here?
SHAWN-D: Nothing is going on, mom.
HOPE: Okay. Then tell me, why is Jan Spears in my house?
SHAWN-D: You said I could invite a friend.
HOPE: I'll repeat the question: why is Jan Spears in my house?
SHAWN-D: She's my friend.
HOPE: Since when?
SHAWN-D: Since she got out of jail.
HOPE: Right, so you and Jan are just friends. There's nothing going on between you two.
SHAWN-D: Exactly.
HOPE: Give me at least a little credit, Shawn. I'm not as stupid as your father.
SHAWN-D: Mom, why are you giving me such a hard time about this?
HOPE: Because I've been in Belle's position. I know what it's like to have your husband cheat on you.
SHAWN-D: I am not cheating on Belle, mom.
HOPE: You know what your grandfather would say if he saw this?
SHAWN-D: Which grandfather?
HOPE: Shawn.
SHAWN-D: What?
HOPE: No, not you. Shawn Brady, Sr.
Shawn-D thought for a moment.
SHAWN-D: He'd probably kick me in the rear, say that I'm being stupid, and give me a lecture on being faithful.
HOPE: You're probably right. Now, I want you to go to your room, with no video games or TV or computer, and think about that for the rest of the night. Your father and I will see Jan out.
SHAWN-D: What?
Hope pointed out the door.
HOPE: To your room, Shawn-Douglas!
SHAWN-D: Okay. I'm going.
And, Shawn-D did. He went straight to the bedroom that used to be his while he was living with his parents.

Chapter 9

THE PIER
MELANIE: Philip, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost or something.
PHILIP: I'm concerned about Shawn.
MELANIE: Because of how things are going with Belle?
PHILIP: That's part of it. But, there's more to it than that.
MELANIE: Well, what's going on?
PHILIP: Shawn is making the biggest mistake of his life.
MELANIE: Why do you say that?
PHILIP: He's cheating on Belle with Jan Spears.
MELANIE: Okay, I see what you mean with the cheating bit. But, who's Jan Spears?
PHILIP: Remember how I told you about what high school was like for me?
MELANIE: Yeah.
PHILIP: And you remember I briefly mentioned a girl who was raped by Nicole's father? The one that was in love with Shawn? The one who's baby Shawn claimed to be the father of so she wouldn't be humiliated?
MELANIE: Yeah. I'm guessing that she's Jan Spears?
PHILIP: Correct. But there's more to it than that. Jan left after graduation. She came back a year or two later, kidnapped Shawn, locked him in a cage, and forced him to be her love slave. After Shawn got out, she tripped over a rock, hit her head, and went into a coma. Last year, she came out of the coma and kidnapped Shawn again. She then shot at Belle. Belle could have died. Finally, she was arrested and put in jail, but she got out on good behavior. And now, Shawn is cheating on Belle with her.
MELANIE: Oh, I see. That doesn't sound very good.
PHILIP: It's not. It's not good at all.
MELANIE: Well, Belle has to know the truth, doesn't she?
PHILIP: Yes, she does. And I intend to make sure that she knows what Shawn is doing to her.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Jan is sitting in Marlena's office. This is one of her weekly psychiatrist sessions with Marlena.
JAN: I'm in love.
MARLENA: That's wonderful, Jan. With who?
JAN: Shawn.
Marlena blinked.
MARLENA: Shawn? Jan, have you been taking your medications lately?
JAN: Yes. And that's just the thing: I shouldn't be in love with Shawn. But, for some reason, I am.
MARLENA: I see. Well, you are aware that Shawn is married. In fact, he's married to my daughter, Belle.
JAN: I know, Marlena.
MARLENA: Please, call me Dr. Evans.
JAN: All right...Dr. Evans. Anyway, yes, I know that Shawn's married to you daughter. And, I don't want to hurt Belle. I really don't. Sure, the old me did. But, the new me doesn't.
MARLENA: I see. Well, in that case, I can tell you this: it is quite common for people to continue to be in love with people for long periods of time, even if those feelings are not reciprocated. You fell in love with Shawn when he helped you out after you had been raped by Paul Mendez. That was a long time ago, back when you were all in high school.
JAN: So, you're saying that what I'm feeling is normal?
MARLENA: I wouldn't go THAT far.
JAN: Then, what are you saying?
MARLENA: I'm saying that I can understand where you're coming from. I was still in love with Roman Brady, even after I knew that he and my husband John were two different people.
JAN: What exactly are you saying, Dr. Evans?
MARLENA: I'm saying that you will always have some feelings for Shawn. But, Shawn is married. He has a child. You need to move on.
JAN: I see. Thank you, Dr. Evans.
Jan walked out of Marlena's office.

First of all, Philip has no right to tell Belle. I understand why he wants to, but it's not his place to tell her. He of all people should know that.

As for Marlena, omg. Glad she gave Jan such good advice. Now Jan is sure to be over Shawn. Not.
