I absolutely DETEST this commercial. It's for Phoenix University and it plays several times during Days. I find the "If I only had a brain" parody extremely condescending and a big old turnoff. I guess I'm not the target audience for this commercial. I mean why would someone say to a potential employer "If you only had a brain." I hate this commercial also. However every time they say "Phoenix rises" at the end I assume André runs the school and that makes me feel better. heroicmuse - this made me laugh. My husband asked what I was laughing at. I can't stand the commercial.

I wonder if that commercial is resonating with anyone. The four of us who said we hate it are of different ages and stages in life, some students, some graduates, some are parents of future college students, and we ALL hate it.

Kpatch I imagine it appeals to U of Phoenix's marketing department, who I'm sure paid a lot of money to use the music for their lame parody. I can't imagine what their target market is for this, though. Maybe the competition's ad agency commissioned the ad so that nobody will go to this school. LOL

I've actually found a small group of people, Kpatch and heroicmuse. On U of Phoenix's Facebook page, I was reading the comments section on this video. Apparently, a handful of people like this commercial, but only for the one scene which shows a mother breastfeeding while studying. That is, genuinely, the only reason some of these people like it. I think they've missed the point, as the commercial is about going to school. Though, admittedly, it is a very bad commercial.

Thanks for doing the research André DiMera. Not sure what to say about that. The people who made the commercial should have done focus groups, and not just among people who work for the ad agency.

I'd never seen that commercial before now. I realize it isn't aimed at me but shouldn't it at least make sense?
A commercial that I don't like is the opioid induced constipation one from the Super Bowl. I've seen it a few times since. A REALLY bad, and kind of sickening, presentation. I'm also confused as to its need. The drug is prescription only so shouldn't these people already be getting advice from their doctors and pharmacists about this? And these drugs come with an information sheet that also addresses the issue.

The commercials for prescription meds are generally annoying. Sometimes it's not clear what the medicine is for.

There are two that I really can't stand. One is similar to the one above but even worse. I couldn't even tell you if it's for a drug or something with fiber but it also revolves around constipation. This man is walking around with a big gut and he and his wife are acting like he's pregnant, I think they even play some song about having a baby, that's bad enough to make it gross to me but then it turns out that he's really just not been able to go to the bathroom. It's just so uncomfortable to watch and I don't think it's funny as I'm sure they intended it to be.
The next is this Anastasia Date commercial I kept seeing the other night. The guy keeps taking about his online girlfriend from Europe who's so enchanting and intelligent. Of course the fact that all the women are from Europe make them so glamorous. It made me think of this site when we joke about "downtown Europe." The commercial is just ridiculous like she's at the symphony by herself but face timing him. I'm sure that happens all the time and they're so much more glamorous than women from America. Eyeroll.

One quick note about this, the guy in it looked familiar to me and I finally figured out he was in one of my favorite movies from high school. It's Pitts from Dead Poet's Society!

I have never seen him in anything else either. I mainly remember him for the scene in Dead Poets Society where Robin Williams was doing roll call and remarked Pitts was a very unfortunate name. Lol
