Chapter 10


Hope’s House

Ciara: Daddy!
Ciara runs into Bo’s arms. He lifts her up.
Bo: Hey little one. Whoa, you are getting big! Did you miss your Daddy?
Ciara: You bet! This is the best almost-Christmas present ever.
Bo: That’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.
Ciara: Yeah well, let’s get down to business. Where’s my real present?


The Brady Pub

Shane: I don’t know what else to say to you sweetheart.
Teresa: There is nothing to say. It’s way too late. I should just fade back into the woodwork, then you’d be happy.
Shane: You’re not making any sense, darling.
Teresa: Oh? Isn’t it true that I was always way too run-of-the-mill for you? I wasn’t ever anything special like your other children, the ones you doted on.
Shane: Jeannie, that’s not true!
Teresa: I’m not a saint like Andrew and I’m not a sinner like Eve. I’m just me. But you and my mother wouldn’t know that because you never looked at me. I came along too late to be part of a real family, but you and mom wouldn’t know the meaning of family, would you? I mean, you were apart more than you were together after I was born. You know what’s funny? I had two siblings and two parents and yet I was always alone. Always. So I learned to depend on me, no one else. Because no one else cares. No one cared then and no one cares now. I’m always an afterthought, the last choice who’s just a poor substitute that the guy uses because the woman he really wants isn’t available.
Shane: Jeannie, what are you talking about?
Teresa: I’m not the most important person in anyone’s life and I never will be, and you know what Daddy? That’s okay. I’ve come to terms with that.
With tears in his eyes, Shane shakes his head.
Shane: Jeannie, none of what you said is true, except that your mother and I were apart more than we were together after you were born, but it had nothing to do with you. Unfortunately, it impacted you deeply. If I could change the past, I would. Jeannie … Teresa, you’re a beautiful, smart young woman. You have your whole life ahead of you. Please don’t let the sins of your father destroy your future.

Given what we know about Ciera, what's she going to expect from Bo as a gift to make up for his being gone so long? A BMW?

Wow... that was a heartbreaking scene between Theresa and Shane. Theresa really thinks that no one sees her as somebody worthy of love and affection and she feels inferior compared to her other siblings Eve and Andrew? That is just so sad. I think it really makes some of the stuff that she said on the actual show a whole lot of sense now. But I'm really confused as to how why Theresa doesn't consider herself a sinner like Eve or a saint like Andrew? What did she mean by that?

sevenna92, by saint and sinner, I'm referring to the fact that Eve was a prostitute (sinner) and Shane felt like he had to make up for her horrible childhood once she came into his life. We really don't know much about Andrew, so I'm presuming he was a good kid (saint) growing up. Teresa didn't identify with either of her siblings and didn't have the same experiences in childhood as either one of them had. She feels like the odd one out, like the one who doesn't fit anywhere. Thanks for asking.

Chapter 11

Hope’s House

Hope: Aiden, are you alright?
Aiden gets up from the floor with Hope’s help and he eyes Bo with disdain.
Aiden: So you’re Bo. I’ve heard a lot about you. None of it good.
Bo: Who the hell are you?
Hope: Ciara, why don’t you and Chase go up to your room and play until you’re 15.
Ciara: Okay. Come on Chase. We can play Barbies together.
Aiden: Chase, now remember, you want to be Ken this time, not Barbie.
After the kids are out of earshot, Hope turns to Bo.
Hope: Did you get my letter?
Bo: What letter?
Hope: The one that said I’ve moved on.
Bo: Yeah right.
Hope: I’m not joking. I’m with Aiden now.
Bo: Him? You’re kidding me. This weasel? What has he got that I haven’t?
Hope: My heart.
Bo (wincing): Ouch.


Daniel’s Apartment

Melanie: Anyone new in your life?
Daniel smiles.
Daniel: Mmmmaybe.
Melanie: Dad! Tell me.
Daniel: I don’t think I should.
Melanie: Oh god. Please tell me it’s not Chloe again, is it?
Daniel: No, it’s not Chloe.
Melanie: Then who???

Chapter 12


Outside Hope’s House
Bo takes out his cell phone and dials a number.


Chicago

Chloe: I’m home!
Philip greets her with a kiss.
Philip: Man I missed you.
Chloe: Mmmm, me too. Seems like we haven’t been in the same city at the same time in ages thanks to our travel schedules. Where’s Parker?
Philip: Lucinda took him down to the lake. They’ll be back in about an hour. How was the trade show?
Chloe: It was fabulous. I made some really good contacts for Titan Music. And I’m close to signing Eyes of One to an exclusive contract with us.
Philip: That’s incredible!
Chloe: I know. But… right now … I just want to spend Christmas Eve with the man I love.
They start to kiss when Philip’s phone rings.
Philip: Hold that thought. He looks at the display. What?? That’s weird.
Chloe: Who is it? Is it your mother? Don’t answer it.
Philip: No, but you’re getting warmer. Hang on. He holds up his index finger to Chloe and answers the phone. Bo? Is it really you?
