The witching season is upon us, blood moons and all! Whooooooo. So what is everyone doing? If your plans are still unfolding and you don't quite know yet, check back once you do.

Our first Halloween activity will be this weekend. We are going to the annual Halloween party at the zoo. It's fun. I still need to look for a green cape to complete Monica's costume.

We have the school's fall carnival the week before Halloween and Hubby's work has a family-oriented party on Halloween so that will be our trick-or-treating event. Ava will be Elsa from Frozen and Annabelle's going to be a 50's sock hop girl.
I'm excited about the school's pumpkin patch field trip on Monday. They're going to the Orr Family Farms, a pretty big pumpkin patch with a good play area for the kids. The Orr Farms took a lot of damage in the Moore tornado last year, so I'm glad they rebuilt and reopened.

Our high school puts on a community Safe Trick or Treat each year. All the school organizations and teams take a classroom, decorate it, and plan a game for the kids. We usually have about 200-300 student volunteers in the building, plus their sponsors, and 2000-3000 kids (we don't count the adults) attend each year. We're fortunate in our community support, and this is one of the ways that we can give back to them. It's one of the most fun things we do! (my kids were making decorations for the room today--it's a Kung Fu Panda theme.) Safe Trick or Treat is Thursday, and our last home football game (and Senior Night) is Friday....so the whole week will be very, very busy!! rockfordfosgate--do you live in OKC???

melly, that sounds like a blast for all of the kids...volunteers and trick or treaters! rockfordfosgate, sounds like such an enjoyable time for your family! Elsa must be a popular costume this year. I've been meaning to watch Frozen. I also love the idea of a 50's sock hop costume-how cute! A party at the zoo sounds like so much fun fluffysmom! I hope the girls enjoy themselves.

This will be the first year that the boys and I won't be having Halloween together. It breaks my heart b/c we always find a way to do something and have fun. So....I don't know what i will be doing Halloween night. I know I won't be sitting at home tho. That would just be too depressing thinking that I should be out with my babies.

I was thinking of taking my kids in addition to regular trick or treating, to the local mall that has a trick or treat the week before. They can wear their costumes another time and it is warm!

Good idea stickywicket. Our malls have trick or treating on Halloween. We went to the Halloween event at the zoo tonight. It was fun. I saw some very creative costumes.

Do parents still check their children's candy haul before approving what they can and can't eat?

I do somewhat, but I only let them Trick or Treat where we know everyone!

What kind of candy do kids prefer? Chocolate? Candy corn? Skittles? Gum? M&Ms? Pretzels?

My kids like almost all candy except Mounds and Almond Joy. I'm happy to eat those. Sami isn't a fan of anything peanut butter related.
