Chapter 5
An Examining Room at the Hospital
Teresa: I’m going to be alright, aren’t I, Aunt Kayla? Kayla: Well, I’m looking over your chart and all your vitals are normal. Hmmm. When ... when was your last period? Teresa: Period? You mean like in school? Kayla: No, I mean when was your last menstrual cycle. Teresa: I don’t really know. A couple months, I think. Why? Kayla: I’d like you to pee in this cup. Teresa: What?? Kayla: Actually, it’s standard procedure to give pre-menopausal women a pregnancy test. I think you should be tested. Teresa: I can’t be pregnant! Kayla: Can’t? Or don’t want to be? Teresa: I’m not cut out to be a mother. Kayla: No argument there. Before you panic, let’s find out for sure.
~~A short time later~~ Teresa: Well? Kayla: The rabbit died. Teresa: What are you talking about? Kayla: We got a positive result. You’re pregnant. Teresa: Noooo. No no no no no. Please tell me you’re joking. ... You’re not, are you? Oh god. What am I going to do? Kayla: Well, from a clinical standpoint, you have a number of options. But I think you should probably talk it over with the baby’s father first. Teresa: The baby’s who? Kayla: Really Teresa? Typically, when a woman is having a baby, there’s a father, a sperm donor. Don’t they teach you anything in California schools? Teresa: Yes, of course. But ... I haven’t been with anyone in ages. Kayla: Oh please Teresa. You are not the Virgin Mary and this wasn’t an immaculate conception. Teresa: I guess you can say I’m a lot of talk, but not nearly as much action as I’d like people to think. Aunt Kayla, I’m telling the truth. I don’t know who the father could be ... unless.... Kayla: Unless? Teresa: Unless I got pregnant the night I overdosed, because I can’t remember anything that happened that night. I mean, I might have been with someone. Kayla: Daniel? Teresa: I don’t know. Maybe. Like I said, I can’t remember a thing about that night. ... Oh no. Kayla: What’s wrong? Teresa: You’re not going to tell my parents, are you? Promise me you won’t say anything about this to my mother. Oh my god. Or my father. They’ll die. They’ll absolutely die. Kayla: They’re a lot stronger than you think. Teresa: Maybe back in the day, but they’ve changed. You don’t know them the way I do. You have to promise me. Kayla: Well, okay, I’ll promise. For now. Teresa: What do you mean “for now”? Kayla: You’re going to have to tell them eventually. Will two weeks be enough time? Teresa: Time? For what? Kayla: If you don’t tell them by the end of the two weeks, then I will. Teresa: What about doctor-patient confidentiality? Kayla: What about it? Teresa: It means you have to keep our conversation a secret. Kayla: Wake up and smell the coffee Teresa. This is Salem University Hospital. We have unique policies here. Besides that, you’re not only my patient. You’re my niece. Your mother is my sister, and your father’s my ex-lover. My relationship with them trumps the confidentiality whatchamacallit.

Love the fact that Kayla's relationship to Kim and Shawn is more important then the confidentiality whatchamacallit. Poor Teresa not knowing who the father of the baby is. This is getting so good.

Fabulous conversation. This story is so much fun. I don't see anyone wanting to jump up and claim to be the daddy of Teresa's baby.

Chapter 6
The Cop Shop
Roman is alone in his office with his hand to his head, studying the list of suspects on his desk. There’s a knock at the door and he answers, without looking up.
Roman: Come in. Bo: Guess who’s home! Roman: Little brother! Are you ever a sight for sore eyes. The brothers embrace, their leather jackets squeaking together. Roman: What brings you home? Bo: I got your text saying Dimera is dead and you need help solving the case. I gotta tell you, Roman, this is the best news I’ve heard in years. So ... is he really dead this time? Roman: He who? Bo: Stefano. Who else? Roman: Stefano’s not dead. Bo: But your text said Dimera’s dead. Roman: Ah. I hate texting. Typing on that little device isn’t my strongsuit. Bo: That’s because you’ve got Jimmy Dean sausages for fingers. ... So he’s not dead? And I came all this way for nothing? Roman: Well, Stefano’s not dead, but we do have a murder investigation going on, and it is a Dimera. Bo: Which one? Is it Junior? Roman: Which one who? Bo: No, not who. Which Dimera? Roman: You got dat right. Da witch Dimera. Bo: Which what? Roman: What da hell are you talking about? Bo: I want to know who died! Roman: Who didn’t die. It was da witch. Bo put both of his hands on the sides of his head like he was trying to prevent his head from exploding. Bo: Give me strength.
There was a knock at the door and Hope walked into the office. Hope: Roman, I think I may have a lead on ... [she stopped in her tracks]. Bo! Bo rushed to Hope and put his arms around her. Bending her backwards, he kissed her with full force. Then he pulled her back to her feet. Bo: Oh man, I missed you so much Fancy Face. Hope: I had no idea you were coming home. Bo: Of course I was coming home. I couldn’t possibly stay away from you and my beautiful daughter. Hope raised an eyebrow. Hope: You didn’t seem to have much of a problem staying away for the last two years. Roman: Well, he’s back now. He came home to help us investigate Kristen’s murder. Bo: Kristen Dimera is dead? Roman: Dat’s what I was trying to tell you. Hope: You came home for a murder investigation?? You know what, Brady? You can just turn around and go back where you came from. We can handle it all without you, just like we’ve been doing for the past two years.
Hope turned and left Roman’s office and slammed the door behind her.
Roman: Looks like you’re in the doghouse, little brother. No sex tonight. Bo: Wanna bet? Ever hear of makeup sex? Roman: Of course I’ve heard of it. I was married to Marlena. I just can’t remember what it was like. Bo: You mean makeup sex? Roman: I mean any sex.

A short chapter ….
Chapter 7
Anne’s Office
Anne: Don’t panic, bubbala. And could you stop pacing? You’re making me nervous. Teresa plopped into a chair. Teresa: This is the worst thing that ever happened to me. I’m always so careful. I just don’t know how this happened. Anne: Do you really need me to explain the birds and the bees to you? Teresa: Shut up. Anne: So you really don’t know how this happened? Teresa: Technically, yes, of course. But I don’t remember anything. Anne: That means this had to have happened on the night you overdosed, the night you can’t remember. And that means the baby is Dr. Dan’s for sure. [Anne clapped her hands together.] This is perfect! In fact, it couldn’t be more perfect. Teresa, you are a brilliant girl. You keep finding new ways to torture Jennifer Horton without even trying. I just love you. Teresa rolled her eyes. Teresa: Oh goodie. I’m soooo glad this is working out for you, Anne. As for me, my life is over. Anne: You don’t need to be so dramatic around me. Save the acting for the nurse’s station. Teresa: I’m not acting. My parents will kill me when they find out. I wonder if my Aunt Kayla told them yet. Wait, she can’t tell them, can she? I mean, she’s not allowed. She’s bound by doctor-patient confidentiality, right? And HIPAA rules. Anne: Sweetie, this is Salem General. Those laws don’t apply here. Didn’t Auntie Kaykay tell you that? Here, everything and everyone is fair game. If I were you, I’d call my parents as a pre-emptive maneuver, head Auntie Ka-Ka off at the pass.
