So glad that Philip said that Parker looks just like him. That is what I said when I first saw Parker. He just wanted to leave things the way they were. Chloe has always wanted a life with Philip. Why is she being so stupid. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch. Can't wait for more.

I don't see Chloe as being stupid. Now that Stephanie told them this story, Chloe probably wants to get the answers one way or the other. I understand Philip not even wanting to consider it could be true.

I am just saying that she has what she wants. A life with Philip. He is happy with it and not doing another test. She must know that Dan has also moved on with his life. Why not just forget that Stephanie said anything and leave it alone.

Chapter 6
Philip lay in bed with his back toward Chloe and his eyes wide open. Neither one of them were going to get any sleep tonight. He could feel Chloe tossing and turning behind him.
He couldn’t shut it off -- the thoughts that were seeping into his brain. Stephanie’s words haunted him. She had to be wrong. She just had to.
But what would motivate her to tell a lie like this? What did she have to gain? She looked and sounded so sincere, so apologetic.
Philip sat up in bed and stretched his arms over his bent knees. He glanced at Chloe who was wide awake and watching him. She rubbed his back.
“Philip ....”
He put up his hand to silence her.
“Please honey,” she beseeched. “We should talk about this. It’s big.”
“I told you,” he said sternly, but quietly, “there’s nothing to talk about. Now go to sleep.” Philip pulled the covers back roughly and got out of bed.
He left the bedroom and walked down the hall to Parker’s room.
Parker was sound asleep in his bed as Philip kneeled next to the bed and stroked the boy’s hair and whispered.
“There’s no way you’re anyone else’s kid. I would know it. ... I would feel it. But I don’t. ... See, big guy, from the minute you were born, I was drawn to you. I knew. I always felt you right here,” he said, tapping his chest with his hand. “And now? Now you’re an even bigger part of me, Parker. And even if my blood weren’t running through your little body, even if you aren’t my son, you’re still a part of me. ... You’re in my soul, Parker.” Philip’s words caught in his throat as he started getting choked up. “You’re right here.” He put his hand over his heart, and then rested his hand on Parker’s chest.
The little boy stirred and opened his eyes. “Daddy.” He rubbed his eyes.
Philip smiled broadly. “That’s right, big guy. It’s your Daddy. .... Hey, you want to know something?” Parker nodded. “I love you more than anything, Parker. And I always will. No matter what. I want you to always remember that, okay?”
“Okay Daddy.”
Philip kissed Parker’s cheek and the little boy opened his arms and hugged Philip. Philip closed his eyes and savored the moment. Then he climbed into bed with his son. “You have enough room, big guy?”
“Uh huh.” Parker nestled his body into Philip’s and put his arm around Philip.
Chloe stood in the doorway with tears in her eyes and watched them fall asleep.

I agree with Philip. I still believe that Parker is Philip's child. If not by blood then in his heart and that is what matters most. Dan never had Parker in his heart. As soon as it was said that Parker was not Dan's by blood he left him. Did not even try and make it work with Chloe to at least share in his life. Thanks for the chapter.

I feel so bad for all three of them. I wish Philip would talk to Chloe. She is trying to be there for him. I can picture Chloe in that doorway watching Philip and Parker. So sweet yet so sad.

Geez Philip, you should know that everything in Salem can be messed up. Get the DNA test in Chicago so you can finally know for sure instead of hanging around & living with all this doubt.

The next chapter is longish and I'm thinking about breaking it in two and posting it on Friday and Monday. That means it would be two short chapters instead of one long one. Thoughts?
