Chapter 7, Part 1
Philip awoke early the next morning. He got dressed and he fed and dressed Parker. Philip was putting the breakfast dishes into the dishwasher when Chloe came into the kitchen bleary-eyed, wearing her sleepshirt. “What are you doing?”
Philip barely looked up. “Taking Parker to the doctor.”
“Is he sick? What’s wrong?” She went over to his booster seat and kissed Parker’s forehead. Then she put her hand on his head. “He’s not warm. What’s wrong, angel?”
“Nothing, he’s fine,” Philip said curtly. “But you want us to get tested, so we’re getting tested.”
“Today? But it’s Thanksgiving. Nothing’s open.”
“Cook County Hospital is open.”
“For emergencies, yes, but ...”
Philip glanced at Chloe for the first time all morning. “Don’t worry. Money talks. We’ll get it done.”
“Wait,” she said. “Let me get dressed and I’ll come with you.”
“No!” Philip snapped at her and immediately regretted it. “Sorry. I’m sorry, I’m a little testy."
“It’s okay, Philip. I understand.”
Philip lifted Parker from his seat. “Listen, why don’t you stay home, get the turkey in the oven and we’ll be back in a few hours.”
Chloe touched Philip’s arm. “Are you sure?”
Philip nodded. “This is something I need to do. And I need to do it alone.”
To be continued Monday...

I am so glad that Phillip is being proactive here. Even though we know what the results are going to be, I am still glad that he is getting it confirmed. Hate to see him relive Chloe's reaction because we know it is not going to be pretty. Thanks for posting kpatch!!

Poor Philip. This has got to be hell on him. I can understand him wanting to do it alone, but he needs to remember that this is not Chloe's fault.

I wish Philip would've just taken Parker to some non-extradition country, sent for Chloe later, and stayed happily ever after.

I still think the best thing is to leave things the way they are. If Dan finds out and demands a test do one then. If Dan is the father visitation can be arranged.just like the Florida girl switched at birth.thanks for the chapter.

Philip is doing the right thing. I understand he really doesn't want to do this, but it is right especially for Parker. For health reasons they need to know who is father is in case of emergency.

I agree that they need to know the truth. And neither of them have been able to sleep thinking about it. So how would they be able to just forget all about it. I agree with Mrs M that it isn't Chloe's fault.

That's the thing after all that Stephanie has done over the years. I don't think I would lose much sleep over it. I would only have the test done if demanded by the courts.

Chapter 7, Part 2
The turkey’s pop-up timer had popped up a long time ago. If Philip and Parker didn’t get home soon, Chloe was going to slice the turkey and make turkey sandwiches out of it. She lost count of how many messages she left for Philip on his cell phone. Why wasn’t he answering? This couldn’t be good. Did he take Parker and run off somewhere the way he did with Claire when he found out she wasn’t his child? Suppose she never saw either of them ever again?
Chloe thought she was going to lose her mind as she jumped up off the couch and went out on the terrace for the hundredth time to see if she could spot Philip’s car pulling into the building’s garage. “Stay calm, Chloe,” she kept telling herself.
Finally, Philip walked in the door holding Parker.
“Oh, thank God! You’re home. I was getting so worried.” She took Parker out of Philip’s arms. “Hello my sweet angel. Did you have a good time with your Daddy?” She glanced at Philip as he took off his overcoat. He looked pale. He looked serious. No, it was more than that. He looked grief-stricken, like someone died. “You okay, honey?”
Parker squirmed out of her arms. “Hungry!” he said.
“I’ll get you some turkey in a minute, sweetheart.” She turned to Philip. “When do you get the results?”
Trembling slightly, Philip took a piece of paper out of his pocket, and handed it to Chloe. She unfolded the document and started to read it. Philip recited it out loud. “There are no common DNA markers between the two individuals tested.”
Chloe shook her head vigorously. “No. Philip. Oh my God. This can’t be right.”
“Oh it’s right,” Philip said quietly. “It’s 100% right. Something we should have done two years ago.” He pounded the wall with his fist. “Damn it!”
“I can’t believe this. Philip, this is ....” Chloe watched Philip walk past her without saying a word. She stopped him and put her arms around him. He pushed her away and walked toward the bedrooms.
To be continued ...

Wow. That had to be worse than a punch to the gut. I just hate that he is pushing Chloe away.
