Lol so Philip, always trying to get some.
I like what Chloe said to him in the flashback...sweet Philip. Love that she made his sensitivity a good thing.

Previews for the coming week's chapters (Tuesday and Thursday)
Guess who’s at the door? Hint: It’s not Avon calling.
Stephanie drops a bomb on Chloe and Philip. They have different reactions to the news.
Philip and Chloe disagree on next steps.
What does Parker think of all this?

Thanks for the previews Kpatch. Bet it is Stephanie at the door. Can't wait to see what Chloe's reaction is. I am wondering if she will let Philip down softly or run out as soon as she gets the news. Really looking forward to Parker's reaction.

Chapter 5
Philip layed on top of Chloe for several minutes, as they both caught their breath, and their heart rates returned to normal.
The afterglow was cut short when the doorbell rang.
“Who could that be?” Philip wondered out loud.
“Tell them to go away,” Chloe said.
“I’ll do that.” Philip got out of bed and pulled on a pair of slacks and a black tee. He leaned over the bed and kissed Chloe. “Don’t move. I’ll be right back.”
Chloe laughed and shook her head. “I’d love to stay here and make love all day, but I have things to do. Remember?” She started getting dressed as Philip left the bedroom. Philip opened the front door and was stunned to see Stephanie Johnson. “Stephanie! What are you ....”
Stephanie managed a half smile. “Bet I was the last person you expected to see at your doorstep. Can I come in?”
Philip was hesitant but he nodded and gestured for her to enter.
“So,” Stephanie attempted to break the ice with a little small talk. “How’s Chloe and the baby?”
“Parker just turned two. Not exactly a baby anymore,” Philip answered flatly. “But I doubt you came all this way to inquire about the family. What’s up?”
A look of distress washed over Stephanie. “Yeah. You’re right. Um. I have something I need to tell you. You and Chloe both. Is she here?”
On cue, Chloe came into the living room buttoning the top button of her blouse. Chloe was shocked to see their visitor. “Stephanie? This is a surprise. What are you doing here?”
“She says she has something to tell us,” Philip answered.
“That’s right. I do. Can we all sit down?”
Philip and Chloe looked at each other for a moment. “Sure. Sit down,” Philip said.
They each took a seat, Philip in an armchair facing Chloe and Stephanie on the sofa.
“I don’t know quite how to tell you this.”
Philip squinted and gave Stephanie a menacing look. “You can start by not dragging it out.”
“Sorry. Um.” Stephanie turned to face Chloe. “There was a ... a mistake. A switch.” Chloe shook her head in confusion. “A switch? What are you talking about?”
Stephanie took a deep breath. “You know how my grandmother said she switched the results of your paternity test so it showed Daniel was Parker’s father and not Philip?”
Philip felt his blood pressure rising. “Really Steph? You’re dredging up ancient history? Why? What the hell are you up to, Stephanie?”
Stephanie faced Philip with tears in her eyes. “Nothing. I’m trying to do the right thing, Philip.” She started talking very fast. “I just found out that my friend Ian, the computer tech guy ... he switched the test before my grandmother did. He switched it from Daniel to you.”
“What??” Chloe interjected.
Philip wasn’t buying it. “Did my mother put you up to this?”
“No! Of course not,” Stephanie answered.
“Then was it my father?”
“Wait,” Chloe said, trying to follow the logic. “This doesn’t ... What are you saying, Stephanie?”
“I’m saying that ... Daniel ... Daniel is Parker’s father, not Philip.”
Philip rose to his feet. “Get out. Get the hell out of my home. Who do you think you are playing with people’s lives and spreading lies like this?”
Stephanie stood up but she wasn’t getting out. “That’s just it, Philip. I’m not. Like I said, I’m trying to do the right thing. As soon as I found out what Ian did, I knew I had to be truthful with you.”
“But why?” Chloe asked. “Why would Ian ....”
Philip shot her a look. “Aw come on Chloe, you’re not believing any of this, are you?”
“It was because Ian had a crush on me. See, he knew about all of us. Everything.” Stephanie looked at Philip. “You, me, Melanie, Nathan. He wanted Melanie to leave you for Nathan because that would mean I’d be single ... you know, available.” Philip looked askance at her, so she continued. “I know! I know it’s crazy and outrageous and outlandish, but it’s the truth. You have to believe me. It’s the truth. ... Philip, I’m sorry. I’m so very sorry.”
Philip spoke quietly this time. “I’m going to say this one more time. Get out of here, Stephanie. Just go.”
Stephanie pressed her lips together and looked in Chloe’s direction. Then she walked past Philip and left the apartment.
Philip looked at Chloe who was just staring straight ahead. Then he left the room.
When he came back a minute later, he was holding Parker in his arms. “It’s impossible. What she said is impossible. Look at him. He looks like me. Everyone says so. He looks exactly like me.”
“Philip ....”
“No, come on, Chloe. Look at him, would you?”
Chloe nodded. “You’re right. He looks just like you, Philip, but ... I mean ... Could what she said be true?”
Philip snapped at her. “I’m sick and tired of people playing God with my life. Forget it. Let’s just forget she was ever here.”
Chloe shook her head. “Philip, I can’t. And I don’t think you can either. Don’t you want to know for sure?”
“I already know.”
“I mean don’t you think maybe we should get a test run or something?”
Philip finally raised his voice. “Damn it! I don’t need a DNA test to prove this little boy is mine. He’s mine! Do you understand? He’s mine, and no test or stupid tech guy is going to tell me he’s not. End of discussion!” Parker began to cry in Philip’s arms. Philip pulled Parker toward him and kissed his head. “Sorry, big guy.”
To be continued....
