Previews for the coming week
Okay, I can’t post detailed previews without giving too much away because this is a critical week for the story, as you can imagine, and things will reach a boiling point.
Posting schedule is M/Tu/Th/F.
Here’s some preview dialogue. Can you guess who says what to whom?
“I sure hope that’s just an unfortunate coincidence.”
“You’re being a jackass, Philip.” <---- The 'to whom' in this one is a freebie. LOL.
“What the hell are you babbling about?”
“I guess I wasn’t thinking.”
“Everything’s important around here.”
“And I’m taking Parker with me.”

Maybe Daniel to Phillip or even Victor? Jackass doesn't sound like a word Chloe or Melanie would say but who knows? “What the hell are you babbling about?” Chloe to Melanie or maybe vice versa. “I guess I wasn’t thinking.” Hmmm...Phillip to Chloe “Everything’s important around here.” Who knows? “And I’m taking Parker with me.” Maybe Chloe to Phillip and everyone else. Now that's a quick response! Those are tough. I'm glad to hear that this will be a "critical" week. Will you tell us later which days you will post? Thanks!

OK, I'll take a stab at it:
“I sure hope that’s just an unfortunate coincidence.”--Chloe to Philip
“You’re being a jackass, Philip.” <---- The 'to whom' in this one is a freebie. LOL.--Victor to Philip
“What the hell are you babbling about?”--Philip to Melanie
“I guess I wasn’t thinking.”--Melanie to Philip or Daniel
“Everything’s important around here.”--Victor to anyone! ;-)
“And I’m taking Parker with me.”

Thanks for your continued interest everyone!
In case anyone is interested, the reason I'm drawing out Destiny's Child a bit more than usual is to give me time to finish Dream Boat, my next fic. Otherwise, I'll have nothing to post when Destiny's Child is finished. So thanks for bearing with me.

Chapter 22, Part 2
Chloe turned her attention back to Philip. “Answer me Philip. I deserve to know what you’ve been doing since I left.”
Philip felt his blood pressure rising. He stood up in his spot next to the table. “You deserve to know?? Are you kidding me? My life is none of your business anymore. You gave up that right when you ... when you moved in with Daniel.”
Jennifer looked over at Lucas and he winked at her. Both of them were enjoying the scene unfolding before their eyes.
“At least Daniel really loved me!” Chloe shouted.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Philip shouted back.
“Figure it out, Philip,” she said.
Philip threw down his napkin and walked over to the other side of the table where Chloe was standing and he got in her face.
“Are you serious? Are you seriously saying that you think I didn’t love you?”
Chloe folded her arms. “Seems obvious, doesn’t it? You had no problem moving on, did you?”
“Me? I could say the same thing about you.” Despite the fact that Philip was standing close to Chloe, she continued to keep her arms folded and looked everywhere but at him. “Let me ask you something, Chloe. Did you tell Daniel that you never loved anyone more than you love him? Did you? Because that’s what you said to me. Remember?”
Chloe winced as Philip continued. “Ah, but you probably say that to everyone. Don’t you? You probably said it to Brady. And to Lucas too.”
From his seat at the table, Lucas weighed in. “Yup, that’s what she said.”
“You’re being a jackass, Philip,” Brady said. “You too, Lucas. Leave her alone.”
“Don’t be a party pooper, Brady,” Lucas added. “This is good stuff.”
“Stay out of this,” Philip said, looking over at Brady and Lucas. “Both of you.” Then he turned back to Chloe. “But I know for a fact there’s only one man you ever proposed to. Did you tell Daniel about that? Did you tell him you got down on your knee and proposed to me? Does he know we were going to get married in April?”
“Hey, if you want her back, man, she’s all yours,” Daniel said to Philip. “For the record, Chloe and Parker are staying at my apartment temporarily while we look for a place for them to live. And I’m staying at the Salem Inn.” Then he looked in Jennifer’s direction. “I’m still ... very much in love with Jennifer. But she won’t talk to me.”
Chloe looked at Daniel, then at Jennifer, then back at Philip. Tears gathered in her eyes but she tried not to cry as she spoke.
“Did you all hear that? Did you? It’s obvious, isn’t it? No one wants me,” Chloe said, finally looking directly at Philip. “Back when we thought Daniel was Parker’s father the first time, everything was perfect. But as soon as he found out you were Parker’s father, he dumped me. Same thing you did to me when you found out you weren’t Parker’s father. Everyone wants the little boy, but no one wants his mother.”
Philip’s brow knit as he tried to comprehend what Chloe was saying.
From his seat at the head of the table, Victor said, “What the hell are you babbling about, Chloe?”
“Hey hey now,” Brady went to Chloe’s side and put his arm around her. “Go easy on her, Granddad. All of you!”
Chloe looked at Philip. “As soon as you found out Parker was Daniel’s, what did you do?” She didn’t wait for Philip to answer. “You stopped talking to me. I tried to tell you it didn’t matter, but you wouldn’t listen to me. Then you drove me here to Salem and you didn’t speak to me the whole trip.” She glanced over at Melanie and she could no longer keep the tears from flowing. “But I hear that you talked a blue-streak to Melanie when you drove her here, didn’t you?”
“What?” Philip rubbed his forehead in confusion. “What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play innocent, Philip. You dumped me. You drove me to Salem without a word, and you dropped me off like an orphaned baby on a stranger’s doorstep. I never expected you of all people, my lifelong best friend, to turn your back on me. Why did even you save me from the river if you were just going to throw me away? You should have let me drown!”
Almost from the moment Chloe started to speak, Philip was continually shaking his head no in disbelief. Every word she spoke was like a nail being driven deeper into his chest. The room was getting smaller and the walls were closing in. He had no idea she felt like he abandoned her. “No, don’t say that,” Philip whispered, almost inaudibly.
Chloe continued between sobs. “... because I'm drowning now. My parents didn’t want me. You didn’t want me. Daniel didn’t want me. The only men who ever wanted me were the ones who paid to have sex with me.”
“Aha! I always knew she was a slut,” Victor scoffed.
“Shut up Granddad!” Brady protested.
“Chloe.” Philip took a step toward her.
She pushed Brady away and backed away from the table before Philip got any closer. “Leave me alone. All of you. No one cares about me. I know what you all really think of me. You think I’m a crazy impulsive irresponsible bitch who deserves what she gets. It’s all my fault. Everything is all my fault.”
“That about sums it up,” Lucas looked at Jennifer and they both nodded.
“Shut up Lucas!” Brady snapped. “Would you please give it a rest already??”
“Chloe, please listen to me,” Philip walked toward Chloe as she walked backwards. The haze cleared and Philip finally got it, and it came down on him like a ton of bricks. It was evident that he wasn't the only one affected by the news of Parker's paternity. His whole tone changed from accusatory to empathetic. “It wasn’t that I didn’t want you. There’s hardly been a time in my life when I didn’t want you. But after I found out Parker wasn’t mine, I guess ... I guess I retreated. I shut down. It had nothing to do with you. It had to do with me.”
Chloe continued to walk backwards until she hit the dining room wall. “Nothing to do with me??? Did you really think that news didn’t affect me?
“I guess I wasn’t thinking ....”
“Then think about it now, Philip!” She began shouting at him, practically hysterical. “I finally had everything I wanted. Again. And it all got blown to pieces. Again.” Chloe ran her hand through her hair. “My whole life got turned inside out -- again -- just like it has every other year since I can’t remember when. Every time I get close to what I want in life, it gets snatched away from me. How many more times am I supposed to start over? How many? I can’t do it. I can’t do it anymore, Philip. I can’t.” Chloe slid down the wall and crumbled to the floor, crying, inconsolable.
Philip crouched beside her and touched her hair. “I’m sorry, Chloe. I didn’t realize. You’re right. I should have been more communicative. I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”
Philip reached for Chloe’s arm and she slapped his hand away. “Leave me alone!”
To be continued...

Yes! Finally we get to hear Chloe's side of the story. Great scene with lots of drama and plenty of comic relief from Lucas and even Daniel. I loved it when he told Phillip she was all his if he wanted her. I'm so glad Chloe finally had someone in her corner. Thank you Brady. Boy what a show those people got with dinner.
Thanks for the long scene too kpatch.
