I am glad Melanie is supportive of Philip. She's in an odd position in all of this since she wants to be a friend to Philip and she's Daniel's daughter.
Looking forward to the previews. Thanks Kpatch.

Well, I for one, will certainly be disappointed if this turns into a Phelanie love story. I know there are others who like them but I'm a Phloe fan through and through. I'm a little okay with them getting closure but I want Phillip and Chloe to realize that this is just a bump in the road and they can work it out. I hope you know, Kpatch, that I mean that in the most respectful way. I still love your writing. I just love Phloe too.

Chapter 13, Part 2
Philip melted into Melanie’s embrace. He closed his eyes and held her tight. It felt good to be in her arms. It seemed like forever since he had any kind of physical contact with another human being and it was ironic that Melanie, of all people, was the one comforting him at a time like this. After all, it was Parker’s birth that ripped them apart. It was Parker’s existence that served as a constant reminder of the pain that a one-night stand caused so many people. And it was the fact that they believed Parker was Philip’s son that made it impossible for them to ever reconcile.
It would have been so easy for Philip to break down and cry but he didn’t want to open the floodgates again. So he held it together as best he could. He slid out of Melanie’s embrace and took both of her hands in his. “I’m okay.”
“No you’re not, Philip.” Melanie’s eyes were as watery as Philip’s. “I know you better than anyone. You’re not okay.”
Philip forced a smile. “You should have seen me last week. This is good by comparison.”
Melanie ran her hand through Philip’s hair. “Even when you’re a mess, you look amazing. I had almost forgotten how cute you are. ... Okay, I’m lying. I didn’t forget.”
Philip laughed. He brought Melanie’s hands to his lips and kissed them. “Only you could make me laugh at a time like this. Thank you, Mel.”
“Philip ... I’ve been thinking a lot about you since I found out ... you know?” Still holding Philip’s hands, Melanie continued. “I really wanted to come sooner. I knew you’d be a wreck. But I also know you well enough to know you’d want to grieve in private.”
“Grieve.” Philip nodded. “You’re right. That’s exactly what this feels like. Grief.”
“I can’t think of anything worse than losing your child. I mean ... well you know what I mean. We both went through it when I had a miscarriage. And ... sorry, I’m rambling.”
“It wouldn’t be you if you didn’t ramble,” he said warmly.
“Ha! That’s true. Anyway, what I was saying ... or trying to say, is that ... well, the reason we broke up was because Parker was your son and ...”
“No,” Philip corrected her. “The reason we broke up is because I was unfaithful. I cheated on you. I broke my vows.”
“Yes, but there were extenuating circumstances, as we both know. ... And I always said I could have forgiven you if it weren’t for Parker. Remember? That’s what I’ve been thinking so much about. I mean ...” she looked into his eyes. “... it’s still there, isn’t it? This thing between us.”
Philip got up off the couch and began to walk around the room, looking for the right words to say. Melanie watched him intently, expectantly. Finally Philip turned his attention back to her.
“I don’t know, Melanie. I mean, I want to say yes, there is. It would be so easy to just scoop you up in my arms ....”
“Then do it!”
To be continued ...
