If I were Chloe I wouldn't want to keep those reminders either. He broke her heart.
I feel so bad for Philip being alone and miserable on Christmas.

Yay! We got our answer. Makes me sad though. George made a good point. I hope Phillip starts to give some thought to what he told him once he sobers up.
Thanks for posting Kpatch! Hope things start looking up for Phillip soon.

I agree that Philip needs to really think about George's words. He made some valid points.

Wow. I can't believe Chloe just sent that stuff to Philip without a word...

I see Goerge has the same thoughts as me. I have been saying the same thing all along. I hope Philip listens and thinks about it. I can agree with Chloe wanting to get rid of the reminders. It must have been so hard on her the way Philip treated her. Thanks for the extra chapter.

Maybe she's hoping to stir up enough emotion in Phillip to make him re-think pushing her away. I certainly hope that's what's going to happen. Kpatch, this is the one thing I don't like about reading your stories as they are posted - you make me do things like look forward to Mondays! I don't like Mondays!

I said the same thing as George a while back. Just because he is not Parker's real Dad doesn't mean he can't be part of Chloe's life & still even part of Parker's.
Poor Chloe must be so hurt that he just pushed her away just because he wasn't Parker's real Dad. That had to hurt her.
Philip wake up & stop feeling so sorry for yourself!!!!

Thanks everyone for reading, commenting and for your interest in this story! I love reading your comments.
Here are some previews for the coming week
Philip is haunted by what might have been.
Philip tries to convince himself that spending New Years Eve alone isn’t so bad.
A knock at the door brings a surprise visitor. Could it be a date for New Year’s Eve? Any guesses?

I think Chloe is too obvious, so I am guessing Nicole.

I'm hoping or Brady. I like to see the support and commeraderie between them. I certainly don't want it to be some other girl b/c I want Phillip to come to his senses so we get a Phloe reunion.

Chapter 12, Part 1
Over the next week, Philip started to feel more like himself again. He wasn’t walking around in an emotional stupor anymore. He was getting shaved and dressed every day, and even getting back down to business, Titan business, that is. But he didn’t have it in him to take down the Christmas tree, not yet anyway. Even though it was a painful reminder of what he once had, in a strange way, it gave him comfort. It proved that at least he actually had it once -- a real family, people he loved, people who loved him, a future to look forward to -- even though he didn’t have it anymore.
His father called him every day, just as he had since the day Philip left Chloe and Parker in Salem. Victor had been uncharacteristically supportive of Philip. Philip presumed that Maggie’s warmth had been rubbing off on his dad, and he was working harder at having a relationship with his wayward heir.
For most of December, Philip gave Victor grunts here and there, but lately they started to have actual conversations, mostly about business, of course, and purposely avoiding the elephant-in-the-room subjects.
In the week since his trip to Jewel Osco on Chrismas eve, George’s words kept ringing in Philip’s ears. Over and over and over. “There are all kinds of families. Even if you’re not the kid’s bio dad, you can still have a place in his life. And if you love Chloe, you should be with her. Don’t throw it all away on a technicality, man!”
Generally speaking, Philip believed George was dead wrong. It was a nice thought, but it wasn’t realistic. Still, there was that nagging at the back of Philip’s mind that knew what the grocery manager said made sense. Philip wasn’t a teenager anymore with delusions of his parents getting back together simply because they were his parents. There are all kinds of blended families nowadays, and Philip himself was living proof of that. Hardly anyone he knew had a traditional upbringing. Shawn and Belle were probably among the rare exceptions.
He stood on the terrace of the condo drinking a brandy as night began to fall. It was now New Year’s Eve. Philip had spent New Year’s Eves alone before, and was never really bothered by it. In some ways, he preferred seeing it from a distance, watching the revelers from the birds-eye view of the terrace, enjoying the fireworks over Lake Michigan far above the roar of the crowds. But he never felt lonelier than he did on this particular New Year’s Eve, because this didn’t seem like “ringing in the new.” It seemed more like an ending than a beginning. For the first time in his life, he almost had it all; he had his own family, a bride-to-be, the child they shared, and the promise of an amazing future.
Now he had nothing. Nothing but a high-priced high rise with an expensive view of Lake Michigan. He was living proof that money couldn’t buy happiness.
To be continued...

So glad that victor is being supportive of Phillip. Maggie IS goor for him. Am also glad that Phillip is thinking about what George said. Funny thing about New Years Eve... it is an end and a new beginning! Can't wait to see who the surprise visitor is... Maybe Daniel brings Parker by! That would really be a surprise!!

Glad to see Philip semi-normal again and not becoming a drunk. I am also anticipating the doorbell....
