What did you all think of Sami's initial reaction to hearing that Rafe(2) cheated on her? She pursed her lips and looked angry. Angry like someone cut her off in traffic. Not deep-down hurt like someone who finds out the love of her life cheated on her. I guess nothing surprises her anymore when it comes to this Rafe.
And why did Rafe pack up all "his" clothing? He came with nothing. I figured he'd leave with nothing, unless he had specific orders to make it look like Rafe wasn't ever coming back. It seemed like a faux pas.

I haven't seen it yet (have to wait till I get home from work), but from your description, it sounds to me like it went one of two ways. Either (1) Sami has figured out, deep, Deep, DEEP down somewhere that this isn't HER Rafe, so she doesn't really care about anything he does. In fact, she's trying hard to make herself care about anything he does. OR (2) Ali just missed the mark on this one. It seems like sometimes her emotion just doesn't really match what's called for in the scene, so she seems a bit off. Most times, she nails it. But I have noticed before that it's almost like she forgot that Sami isn't supposed to know that it's not really Rafe.

I think instead of feeling hurt she just got pi**ed off. It is one of those moments where the anger takes over and nothing else really matters. Maybe when she is away from him and not screaming at him we will see the hurt take over.

Sami's been through a lot worse than having a spouse a cheat on her in the past few years so maybe it doesn't have the impact that it might otherwise. Also she has previously admitted that her marriage is over so maybe she is actually a bit relieve to have confirmation that it really is done and she doesn't have to keep fighting a losing battle. Alternatively, maybe she just truly doesn't care that much. I've never been a fan of Sami's pairing with either Rafe and never bought into it being a "great love" . To me, it's been more a matter of Sami feeling grateful toward Rafe and seeing him as the kind of guy she could have a good life with, so I can see how she would be more insulted by him having an affair than being hurt by it and possibly being more upset that she misjudged him than hurt over the betrayal.

I think at this point, she's just so fed up with "Rafe" and has been slowly coming to the realization that it's over. This pretty much gave her confirmation of that. I think this is the proverbial straw to break the camel's back. She knows that her "Rafe" would never betray her like that so she's waking up to the fact that her marriage is over. I get what you're saying about "why isn't she more hurt?" But I think it's just all the build-up to this point. After everything that Rafe 2 has said and done the past couple of months I don't think anything surprises her anymore so you bet she's pissed off, just not as hurt by it because it sorta fits with the persona that Rafe 2 has portrayed.

I think that Sami may have actually been relieved; Rafe's conversation with Dario about his one night stand gave her a good reason to let go, without feeling guilty about not being a supportive enough wife, or for having "caused" the brain injury accident in the first place. Now she can be a bit of a martyr, but not the one at total fault.

Well, Sami wasn't very loving and warm to him. She seemed very put off by him while they were working it out. I think there was a mixture of sadness, shock, anger, betrayal, and deep down confirmation that her marriage is over and there's no going back.

I think there was a mixture of sadness, shock, anger, betrayal, and deep down confirmation that her marriage is over and there's no going back. She definitely did not seem comfortable with him, even as she was telling him that she wanted to try and work it out. It was like she felt obligated to make her marriage work, rather than wanting to. God, she really IS Marlena, Carrie, and Belle now.

God, she really IS Marlena, Carrie, and Belle now. LOL, almost ... the transformation won't be complete though until Sami is the one to cheat on her spouse and still manages to come out as the wronged party/sympathetic martyr.

True but any character could be forgiven for cheating on the man who raped her, tried to murder multiple members of her family and forced her into the marriage... that really doesn't count as a major feat. Sami hasn't mastered the "art" to nearly the level of her mother or sisters. Still, I'm sad to see her resembling them as much as she has these past few years.

It seems like there's only one way to write a decendent of Marlena, and this is it. It's sad that they can't think of a new story for Sami. With her twitsted history, you'd think they could go in a more original direction.
I didn't see the end of Lumi/beginning of Ejami, but didn't Sami get with EJ of her own free will before it went downhill? From what I gathered from youtube, I thought she stepped out on Lucas to be with EJ. She even kept them both on the hook for a little while. Then EJ crossed that line. Did I understand that all wrong?

That's exactly how I thought it all went down as well. I wasn't watching during that time period neither.

I didn't like Marlena much, so to see Sami going down the same path...pass. They've written Sami out of character ever since EJ Wells, er, I mean DiMera came into town.

The way I see it, Sami does what Sami wants. Period. No matter what (or who) she does, she can justify it. So, to me, Sami and EJ made sense, at least in the beginning anyway. I miss the days when EJ was just the rake across the hall. Little bit bad boy, most just crazy hot guy. *sigh*
