I find weddings of people I know romantic... not people I don't know & don't care about me. It may seem crass but that is just how I feel. Now my daughter & he husband were married by the city judge wih 2 witnesses... now that was romantic!

I just love weddings, whether I know the couple or not. It's always a bit nicer when I do know them, but I could crash weddings every Saturday and be happy. It's just such a happy occasion. Well, 99.9% of the time. I've often thought about being a wedding planner or something like that. I love that show "Say Yes to the Dress" and wouldn't mind being a bridal consultant as a part time job. But I'd have a hard time selling someone a dress that looked terrible but that they loved.

I voted that I taped it, but I also watched a bit of it. I DVRed the BBCAmerica coverage. I didn't get up specifically to watch it; I watched a bit while I was up with Ava this morning (who had decent sleep finally...a 4 hour stretch then a 3 hour stretch Yay!). I saw a bit of the "pre-game" commentary on BBCAmerica. And then at Ava's next feeding I saw the last few minutes in the church before their processional and carriage ride. And then I got to watch the balcony appearance and kiss with Annabelle cuddled up next to me asking a gazillion questions about it. She thought it was "cool" to see a Prince and Princess. It will be something to record in both girls' baby books to say they saw part of it/ate and slept through it. I was a baby during the Diana/Charles wedding, so this is really my first experience with royal weddings.
The dress...I expected a style similar to that, based off of her everyday clothes and her figure. I loved the lace on the sleeves. It gave a very soft, romantic feel to the dress and it suited her. The media hype prior to the wedding was overkill, but I enjoyed the bits I saw. It may be a few months before I watch it on DVR though!

I taped it too (the BBC coverage too, actually) but I couldn't stop myself from watching it on the internet once I got to work. And I've been staring at it all day. I even wore my "Diana" ring to school today. Yes, I bought a replica of the engagement ring. It's totally fake and only cost me $25, but I think it's fabulous. And, if I'm being honest, I've been wearing it all week.

I just read this tweet from Melissa Reeves:
Wow! Your wedding should be one of the happiest days of your life! They look like they are going to fall asleep:(
I guess everyone sees things differently!

I guess so. Maybe we all project our own feelings about the current state of our marriages onto them?

I voted that I taped it ... though in all honesty I really didn't tape it. I just figure that there will be plenty of chances to watch it between TV and online sources and I do plan on watching it. I'm a bit surprised at how excited I am about this wedding. I think, interestingly enough, it is a little of the same reason that I get attached to soaps/soap characters. I remember Charles and Diana's wedding and when William and Harry were born so I feel that same type of nostalgic connection to William and Kate that I tend to have for fictional characters like Will Horton. Plus, they seem really happy and sweet with each other. How often is the whole world focused on an event that is this sweet and innocent ... usually it takes something horrid and catastrophic to garner this much attention.

I dunno, given the state of our union right now and all the terrible storms that have ravaged our nation, it amazes me the top story is the wedding of two people who have absolutely nothing to do with the United States.

I'd rather a happy event lead the news than saddness and devastation. We get enough of that every day.

That is true, but at the same token why is it such a big deal HERE? They have nothing to do with our lives. I get the obsession over royalty if they rule and preside over you, but they don't have any power here. (Don't mind me I am feeling a little cranky today, and all the hoopla is just getting to me.) And besides, I have my own Prince William and Princess Katherine Katie did say that she looked like a beautiful princess, but her dress needed to be colorful!

....I have my own Prince William and Princess Katherine Katie did say that she looked like a beautiful princess, but her dress needed to be colorful! That's so adorable! Such a little girl thing to say! American's have traditionally been fascinated with Royalty, my guess, because we don't have it. Plus the Brits are like our distant realtives, so to say, so I feel like I'm somehwhat invested in what they do. I couldn't tell you the difference between their political parites, but they sort of are like our great-great-great (times a billion)-grand parents. At least mine anyway. And since I'm Irish I'm a decendent of the king (as all Irishmen are) so Wills is my distant (ok, realllllllly distant) cousin. Right?

My father was born in London, so I can claim them as great grandsomethings too. LOL.
The fashions were quite different than what they wear for weddings here. All the women were so buttoned up and formal. They looked like they were going to a business meeting instead of a wedding.

Agreed, but I think I like that a little more than what I typically see at weddings. You either see jeans and t-shirts or a slutty dress. I live in a farm community and a lot of girl's ideas of dressing up is throwing on the only dress she owns, which was bought 8-10 years ago. Lol.
