Thanks for your great comments to the story. I'm happy you are so intrigued and can't wait for the big revelations. Here's what you can expect from the story in the next week:
Philip and Chloe do some reminiscing.
Ready to play Truth or Dare?
Chloe asks if Philip thinks she should leave Brady.
Philip gives Chloe something.
I wonder what's happening back in Salem, and at Ohare Airport.
DVR Alert for Friday: A truth is revealed!

10:30 p.m.
HOUSE IN THE WOODS
Philip went back into the kitchen and opened another bottle of wine and brought it over to the fireplace. He stopped and looked out the window.
Philip: Can’t see a thing. I really wish we had a radio. Chloe: Why? Philip: Weather reports. I want to know when this blizzard’s going to end. If Kevin were here, he could tell us. Chloe: What do the weather people know? They get it wrong half the time anyway. Hey, you’re limping less. How’s your foot? Philip: Better. I think the bucket of snow you got me from outside helped bring down the swelling. Chloe: Now do you believe I learned something being the daughter of a doctor? Philip: I guess I do. Philip sat down on the hearth and Chloe began to hum. Chloe: I wish we had a radio too. I feel like listening to music. Ooh, why don’t we sing something? Philip: I don’t think so. Chloe: Come on, it’ll be fun. At least it’ll give us something to do. Philip: You go first. Chloe: Let’s see. I’ll bet back at the reunion they’re playing songs that were popular when we were in high school. Philip: There were some great songs back then, like ... What was the name of the song that was playing on the radio when we drove to the lake? Chloe: You mean the night you carved our initials in the tree? Philip: Yeah. The song you were singing with your head out the window. Chloe: Don’t remind me. That was so embarrassing. And I wasn’t singing out the window. I was shouting. Philip: Oh that’s right. You shouted ... Chloe: I shouted that I had the best boyfriend in the whole world. Philip: That was just about the best moment of my life. Chloe: Really? Philip realized that the wine may have loosened his tongue just a little too much, so he quickly changed course. Philip: You had a better voice than the singer on the radio. Sing it now. Chloe: Only if you sing with me. Philip: I can’t sing. Chloe: Are you fishing for a compliment? You have a very nice singing voice. Philip: Well, I don’t remember the song. Chloe: Sure you do. So go on. Go on. Come on. Chloe starts singing the song, and after a couple of lines, Philip joins in.
So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless Touch me, tease me until I can't deny this Loving feeling, make me long for your kiss Go on, go on, yeah, come on
And if there's no tomorrow And all we have is here and now I'm happy just to have you You're all the love I need somehow It's like a dream although I'm not asleep And I never want to wake up Don't lose it, don't leave it
So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless Touch me, tease me until I can't deny this Loving feeling, make me long for your kiss Go on, go on, yeah, come on
The lyrics, and the way Philip was looking at her while they sang, was literally making Chloe breathless. She hadn’t been aware of it, but for a few minutes she was transported to another time. Another place. She felt flushed, nervous, and excited -- the way you feel when you’re falling in love.
She stopped singing, but she and Philip were still looking into each other's eyes. She swallowed hard and told herself the emotions she was experiencing were just the effects of the wine. And the close proximity. And being alone with Philip like this. And the fact that he had been kind to her. Was it possible that he was even more handsome now than he had been as a boy, because she was feeling incredibly attracted to him. She wondered if he was feeling the same way. Chloe finally blinked and looked away. Chloe: See, you do remember the song. Philip: That was quite a night for us. Chloe: I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Philip: I know I won’t.
Chloe stood up quickly, feeling the need to put some distance between herself and Philip. She rubbed her arms. Chloe: Cold. Be right back.
Philip moved to a cushion on the floor in front of the fireplace and refilled the two glasses with wine. Chloe returned. Chloe: I took this quilt off one of the beds. Do you want me to try and find another one? Philip: I’m fine. You go ahead and use it. Chloe looked at Philip, the fireplace, and the glasses of wine. Chloe: If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was a seduction scene. Philip looked at her, somewhat taken aback, yet flattered. Philip: That could be arranged. He smiled at her and a memory of an emotion washed over him. Philip: There’s still a spark, isn’t there? It took Chloe a minute to realize that Philip wasn't talking about the fireplace. She recognized a familiar look in his eye, and it was unmistakable. He was obviously thinking the same things she was thinking. Chloe: What? No, of course not. Philip: Yes there is. Chloe: No, Philip, it’s just the wine talking. Philip: It’s not only the wine. Chloe: We’re both married, so let’s change the subject. What should we talk about? She sat down on the floor with the quilt around her. Philip: I’m pretty much talked out. Chloe: I don’t believe that for a second. I can remember when we were never at a loss for things to talk about. ... I know! Let’s play truth or dare. Philip: I don’t know how to play. Chloe: Yes you do. Philip: No. I really don’t. Chloe: You’ve never played? Philip: I’ve led a sheltered life. Chloe: Yeah, right. Okay, I’ll teach you. It’s easy. We each ask each other questions, but before we hear the question, we have to decide whether we’d rather tell the truth or take a dare. But no one ever takes the dare. Philip: Why not? Chloe: I don’t know. Philip: Okay. Almost sounds too easy. How do you win? Chloe: It’s not a win or lose kind of game. It’s just a game of conversation. Philip: Oh. Chloe: Let’s do a practice round before we start, just so you can see how it works. Philip: Okay. Chloe: First you have to decide whether you want to tell the truth or take a dare. Philip: Before I hear the question? Chloe rolls her eyes. Chloe: Weren’t you listening when I was explaining the rules? Yes, before you hear the question. Philip shrugs. Philip: Okay. I don’t know. Truth. Chloe: Excellent choice, Mr. Kiriakis. Here’s my question. What was it like for you in the war? Philip: Oooh. ... Wow, you don’t mess around. You start with the tough ones. Chloe: Wait. I’m just getting warmed up.

Things are getting very interesting. I don't think it's just because of the wine. Chloe was certainly quick to change the subject after Philip mentioned the spark between them. Looking forward to more of Truth or Dare.

This truth or dare game is going to be great. When I have seen it played before the person would ask the question and then the other person would chose truth or dare. Otherwise you could do the dare for a question you don't mind answering or say you will answer a question that you really can't answer.

HOUSE IN THE WOODS
Chloe: What was it like for you in the war? Philip: Oooh. ... Wow, you don’t mess around. You start with the tough ones. Chloe: Wait. I’m just getting warmed up. Philip: That’s because you have a quilt around you. Chloe: Jealous? Philip: A little. Chloe: You can share it, you know. Philip: I don’t think so. Chloe: Come on Philip. We’re adults. I’m not going to take advantage of you. Philip: Even if I want you to? Chloe: Now you sound like Jason. Philip: Okay, yes, I’d like to share your warmth. As Chloe put part of the quilt around Philip’s shoulder, she toyed with the idea of seducing him. The combination of the alcohol and being this close to Philip aroused her. Chloe’s eyes twinkled with mischief, but she knew she’d never go through with it. She was a married woman, after all. But it sure was fun to think about it. Chloe: Better? Philip: Yes. Much. Philip looked at Chloe and he noticed her cheeks reddening. Philip: You okay? Chloe: Um ... yeah. It’s just a little weird being this close to you. It almost feels like ... Philip: Like what? Chloe: Like ... Philip: Am I making you uncomfortable? Chloe: It’s not you. It’s me. Philip: Here, you take the blanket. I don’t really need it. Chloe: No, don’t go. Stay. Please. I was just starting to thaw. Philip: Okay. So, is it still my turn? Chloe: For what? Philip: Truth or dare. Chloe: Oh. Yes. I asked you about the war. Philip: Why don’t we just sing instead. Chloe: Nope. We’re committed. Philip gazed into the fireplace. Philip: It’s not something I like to talk about. But ... whatever you’ve heard about war, the reality is far worse. Doesn’t even compare. Even the gritty war movies ... Chloe: Like Apocalypse Now. Philip: And Full Metal Jacket. Yeah. There are sights and sounds and smells I remember so clearly. And I wish I didn’t. Chloe: I’m sorry. Maybe I shouldn’t have brought it up. I just remember praying so hard for you to come home safely. Philip looked at Chloe. Philip: You prayed for me? Chloe: Yes of course. I prayed for you every day. Especially because ... because I knew you joined the military because of me. Philip: Chloe, no, that’s not true. Chloe: I’m the reason you lost your leg. Philip: Is that what you think? Well then cut yourself some slack. I didn’t join the Marines because of you. Chloe: Yes you did. Philip: Okay, I was looking for a way to get away from Salem, from you, from Brady. That much is true. But I could have just gone to an out-of-state college if all I wanted to do was get away. Like I told you when we said goodbye, I originally considered joining the Marines because of you. But when I actually enlisted, it was because of me. The more I learned about it, the more it took hold. Serving my country was something I really felt strongly about. Chloe: You mean that? Philip: Absolutely. So you can stop feeling guilty right this minute. Okay? Chloe smiled. Chloe: Okay. Philip: Good. Chloe: So are you okay with playing this game? Philip: What game? Chloe: Truth or Dare. Philip: Oh. Sure, I guess so. Chloe: Good. Now for my real first question. Philip: Oh no. Chloe: Oh yes. Did you ... did you tell Jason that we never ... um ... that we weren’t intimate in high school? Philip: I seem to recall that we were initimate. Chloe: When? Philip licked his lips and smiled wistfully. Philip: In the stables. Chloe: Philip Kiriakis! We did not have sex in the stables. Philip: I know. And I’ve lived to regret it. Chloe: So you admit that we didn’t have sex. Philip: That wasn’t the question. You asked about being intimate. Not about sex. Chloe: No, I asked if you said anything about it to Jason. Philip: Where’s this coming from? Chloe: Last night at the Pub, he said you told him that I put you off all through high school. Philip: Ha! Good old Jason. If I were going to tell anybody anything, I’d have told them we did have sex. Teenage boys like to brag. Chloe: Did you tell him that? Philip: Hell no. I didn’t tell him anything. I didn’t tell anyone anything. What happens between us is nobody else’s business. Chloe: That’s good. I’m sorry I believed you’d say something like that to him. Philip: You can’t put stock in anything he says. Chloe: I’ll try to remember that. Okay. Now it’s your turn to ask me something. Philip: Alright. Before when I asked ... Chloe: Wait! You didn’t say “truth or dare.” Philip: Oh, I forgot. Do I lose points? Chloe laughed. Chloe: No silly. Philip: Alright. Truth or Dare, Miss Lane? Chloe: Hmm. I’ll take the dare. Philip: What? You said nobody ever takes the dare. Chloe: Well I’ve always been a little unconventional. Philip laughed and his smile took Chloe’s breath away. Philip: What’s wrong? Chloe: Nothing. Nothing’s wrong. Philip: You sure? You got a weird look on your face. Chloe: It’s just ... when you laughed like that, I realized I hadn’t seen your dimples in years. I had almost forgotten what a beautiful smile you have. It made me ... breathless. Philip: Aw shucks, you’re making me blush. Chloe: I’m serious. Philip: I guess I don’t laugh that often. Chloe: Well you should. When we were in high school, you smiled all the time. Philip: That was another lifetime. Life was sweeter back then. Everything is more serious nowadays. ... So, you said you want the dare. Hmmm.
