THE HOUSE IN THE WOODS

Philip: Sometimes I think things are too perfect.
Chloe: How so?
Philip: Me and Belle. She’s so organized.
Chloe: I know. She puts the rest of us to shame.
Philip: I didn’t necessarily mean it in a good way. I mean, spontaneity can be fun. But she has a schedule for everything.
Chloe: You don’t mean everything.
Philip: Yes, I do mean everything. Even that. She has a timetable for making love, for having a first child, for having a second child, for moving into a bigger house. It’s almost as if she’s reading a manual. How to have the perfect life. I think it’s all an act.
Chloe: What??? What do you mean?

Philip: Remember I told you that we talked about having a baby. The truth is, she talked about it. I said I wanted to wait.
Chloe: Why? I know you love kids. What made you tell her you want to wait?
Philip: Something ... just didn’t feel right. Deep down ... god, I can’t believe I’m telling you this. I don’t ... I don’t think that she’s as committed to our marriage as I am. Something is off.
Chloe: Like what?
Philip: Don’t know. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Hmmm. Here’s an example. You know how Belle told me I needed to go with you to pick up Brady?
Chloe: Yes.
Philip: It almost seemed like she was trying to get rid of me. Get me to leave.
Chloe: I’m sure that’s not true.
Philip: I’m sure it is true. I think she’s hiding something from me. Every time I come into a room, she’s on her phone whispering to someone, but she never tells me who. Or sometimes she’ll say it was her mother, but I think she’s lying. Here’s another one. Whenever Shawn is around, it’s like the two of them are conspiring about something. I mean, I know they go way back, just like you and me. If I didn’t know better, I would think they’re seeing each other behind my back.
Chloe didn’t say anything and avoided eye contact with Philip. He touched her leg.
Philip: Hey Chloe. You’re supposed to say "I'm sure that’s not true."
Chloe slowly lifted her eyes and looked at Philip, a pained expression on her face. Philip squinted at her.
Philip: Do you know something? Am I right?
Her continued silence confirmed his worst fears. He got up off the floor and started pacing, the pain in his ankle forgotten, replaced by a tightness in his stomach. He alternately rubbed the back of his neck and ran his hand through his hair.
Philip: Oh god. Oh god, it’s true then. Belle is cheating on me. With Shawn. Damn him to hell. Damn them! I’m gonna kill him.
Philip began shouting, cursing and yelling. He was so upset he was practically shaking. Chloe went to him to try to calm him down.
Chloe: Philip, I’m so sorry.
Philip: Leave me alone.
Chloe: I can’t. I’m stuck here with you.
Philip: Just shut up. Don’t talk to me. You knew! You knew! How long?
Chloe: I ... I just found out yesterday. I don’t know how long it’s been going on.
Philip: You weren’t going to tell me, were you?
Chloe: I don’t know. Probably not. I told Belle I wouldn’t say anything to you. But I also told her I wouldn’t lie for her.
Philip: I can’t believe it. I just ...
Philip’s voice caught in his throat and tears welled up in his eyes, as his anger turned into pain. Chloe put her arms around him as he let the tears flow.
Chloe: I can’t imagine how you feel. Knowing the person you married is cheating on you with your best friend. It’s okay, Philip. I’m here for you.
Philip sniffled as he lifted his chin off Chloe’s shoulder and looked at her through watery eyes. He placed his hand on her shoulder.
Philip: I got your dress wet.
Chloe: It’s okay. I have others.
As he looked at her, he knew that she was the only one in the world who could take away the pain he was feeling. He felt like there had to be a reason he was with Chloe when he found out about Belle. He felt the urge to kiss her, and he didn’t hold back. He leaned closer and caught her mouth with his. The kiss took Chloe by surprise and she instinctively started to push him away but relented as she felt a tingle run from her lips all the way down to her toes. She gave into the kiss and slid her arms around Philip.

So he gets mad at her for her not telling, but he is doing the same thing to her, but he has known for a lot longer.

Wow. I was hoping he would tell her once he found out about Belle and Shawn. Love the kiss. Can we please have previews for next week.

I'm glad that Philip knows the truth about Belle and Shawn. I liked Chloe not being able to resist Philip's kiss. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

I kind of like the idea of a cliffhanger that has Philip and Chloe locked in a kiss all weekend. LOL.

Just for the purposes of discussion, what do you think are the pro's and con's of Philip telling Chloe that Brady is cheating on her. Do you think Philip should be the one to tell her? If yes, why? If no, why not?

I'd like to see Philip finagle a situation where Chloe discovers the truth herself, without Philip having to disclose that he knows what's going on. OR Philip manages to convince Brady to come clean. That might be better.

Ultimately, all parties involved need to know the truth of their relationships.

I don't think Chloe will react well to the news that Philip has known for so long and hasn't told her. No matter what Philip says she will see it as him siding with Brady. Chloe needs to know the truth, but if Philip wants a chance with Chloe he better pray she figures it out on her own and never finds out he knew.

I agree.

I think if Philip tells her right now it would be for the wrong reasons. It will be a way to try and get her into bed.

I agree with Mrs M that Chloe would be upset and angry to find out Philip has known for awhile that Brady cheated.

This reminds me a little of the show's ONS... Philip saw Melanie kiss Nathan and assumed the worst...Minutes later he is on Chloe like fly on paper.
The difference here is that Belle is cheating, not just a kiss...but I still think he needs to slow down and not advantage of Chloe.
