I am guessing it has something to do with formatting. Sometimes when you save in one program and then copy and paste into a different format weird things show up. If you want to fix it just click on the edit button at the top of your post.

I guess I'm going to have to repost it when I get home. I can't figure out how to fix it by just editing the post. That's so strange and frustrating! Sorry! I'll repost this evening.

I totally love Chad's lawyer. LOL
Bringing up Maggie being in AA, the whole cover up of beating up EJ...priceless.

You nailed Melanie perfectly. That's exactly how I see her too.

Chapter 13
Melanie was silent throughout the ride home from the courthouse. Daniel kept looking over to the passenger seat to make sure she was still awake. It was rare that his daughter didn’t have anything to say, but lately those times were becoming more frequent.
Half way home, Melanie looks over at her father and takes a deep breath, “Thank you for bringing me home.”
“Of course,” Daniel smiles, “You thought I was gonna leave you there?”
“No,” Her face cracks a small smile, “I guess what I mean is, thank you for everything. All that you said today.”
“I wish I could do more.” He watches as Melanie nods, and then focuses her gaze back out of the window. “I know this is probably a stupid question, but… are you all right?” He watches as she crosses her arms and sighs, “I know you probably don’t want to talk about this anymore… but I don’t want you to keep everything inside. It only makes it worse…”
“Yeah,” Melanie chuckles sarcastically and shakes her head. “Seems like everything makes everything worse… nothing really makes it better, huh?”
“I’m sorry. I know you keep hearing that.”
“It’s okay” She looks at him softly, “I know you mean well. I’m just tired of beating a dead horse. I just want this to be over. I’m done talking about it. I want it to be over and forget that it ever happened.”
“Honey, you can’t really do that either.” Daniel’s face was concerned.
“What can I do, then, dad?” Melanie looks over at him teary, tilting her head in question, “Nothing. That’s it. I can’t do anything. I can’t do anything to make this better and I’m force to do nothing just to make sure I don’t make it worse. It’s like my life isn’t my life anymore.” She stops when tears catch in her throat.
“Melanie…” Daniel sighs, not finding any words to say.
“Anyway,” She sighs, ceasing to look away from the window. “That lawyer really nailed you guys to a wall. I’m sorry you had to deal with that.”
“I’m fine, honey. I’m sorry you had to sit there and listen to that nonsense.”
“It wasn’t nonsense, Dad. It was the truth. Plain and simple. They didn’t make any of that stuff up.” Melanie shrugs, moving her gaze down to her lap where she clasps her hands.
“Melanie, all of that is totally irrelevant in testament to who you are right now.”
“That’s not true, either.” She shakes her head, with a sarcastic chuckle, “I did all of those things. With total awareness of what I was doing. I remember everything, I wasn’t under the influence of some kind of drug or something. That was me. All me.”
Daniel pulls the car into the driveway, swiftly locking it into park before turning his head to face his daughter, “Melanie… everyone makes poor choices at some point in their life. Especially when they are young. You have to have experience before you can learn from it. You’ve done nothing but learn from your mistakes, and that’s what makes you a good person. You have proven your integrity, time and again.”
“Yeah, but like he said,” She chokes up, “Once you are a certain way- a certain kind of person… there’s no telling if you could go back to that again. I mean, Grandma could take a drink at any time and revert back to her old ways. Brady could start using again in an instant. It’s that simple.”
“Right. But they don’t, do they?” He watches as Melanie looks back down, wiping a tear from her cheek, “They don’t because They have learned from their experience. They know what it will do, and they know how it will hurt those around them. And they don’t want to be that person. They’re stronger than that; they can cope without that crutch. Just like you can.”
“You don’t know that.” She meets eyes with him, wearily, “Everything can change in an instant. Listen, all I’m saying is that Chad has every right to hold my past against me.”
“Okay. Fine. But even then… even years ago when you were just a young misguided girl- you still had the same heart. You still would have done everything in your power to take care of your child.”
“Yeah…” Melanie nods, sniffling her tears and toying with the ends of her scarf.
Daniel puts his hand on her back, rubbing it gently as Melanie’s tears fall to her cheeks at a faster rate.
“You know,” She starts, trying to gain composure enough to speak, “When I was listening to his lawyer ask all of those questions, and everything that you and Grandma were saying. All I could think about was how different my life is now. I would be nothing without the people that I love, and who love me.” She looks up at Daniel, her eyes red and swollen, “I think that would be the worst part of this whole thing- if Chad took Sophie from me and she missed out on a childhood with all of you around her to love her.”
“That’s not going to happen, Melanie, Come here…” He leans into a hug, as she cries on his shoulder, “Honey, I’m so sorry…” He rubs her back, her tears subsiding slightly.
“No, I’m sorry,” She wipes her tears, leaning back into her seat “I’m fine. I’m just tired.” She sniffs as she gathers her bags together.
“I just wish I knew what to say.” He rubs his hand along his forehead.
“You do,” Melanie nods, a small smile crosses her lips, “You’re the best dad in the whole world. It’s not your fault that I’m a time bomb.”
“I love you… and I’m here for you.”
“I know,” She nods before leaning into another hug with her father, “I don’t want you to worry about me, though. I’m fine. I don’t like it that everyone is so worried.”
“I’ll try not to,” He kisses her head, “It isn’t that I don’t trust that you know what you’re doing… I just worry about what the stress is doing to you.”
“I know,” Melanie smiles as she leans away from her dad, “I’m so grateful to have people in my life that love me enough to worry about me. But I love you all just as much and I don’t want to put you through that.”
“Okay… we’ll make a deal. You try your best to turn to us when you need us, instead of keeping everything bottled inside. And we will try not to worry.” Daniel smiles, lovingly.
“Okay, deal.” She reaches out and meets her dad in a firm handshake. “Come on. Let’s go in and see what kind of trouble Sophie got mom into.” She chuckles.
“Oh boy. Hopefully she covered her in pees, like she did to me the other day.” Daniel shakes his head as they both exit the car.

OK this got me all teary. Maybe it is because I love MelDan, or maybe it is because we are about to lose Molly on our screens, or maybe it is because I am hormonal...I don't know.
You write with such heart and warmth, I feel for these characters even more than I did already from watching the show. You have given them life and soul.
