THE LAKE HOUSE
After an overnight hospital stay, Philip brings Chloe and the baby home. Henderson is giving Wesley his lunch, while Philip and Chloe are on the living room sofa staring at the newest addition to their family, sleeping peacefully in Chloe's arms.
Philip: I can’t take my eyes off of her. She’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. Chloe [jokingly]: I thought I was the most beautiful girl you ever saw. Philip looked at Chloe and touches her chin. Philip: You are. I’ll never forget the first time I saw you. Chloe: At the Last Blast dance. Philip: No, I’m talking about the very first time. At school. There was something about you, something in your eyes that pulled me in and wouldn’t let me go. Even when you were hiding behind your gothic getup, I knew there was more there than met the eye. But I was such a conceited jerk that I let peer pressure keep me from getting to know you. Man, I was a fool. Chloe: No you weren’t. Philip: I was. A lovesick, totally obsessed, smitten, crazy-about-you fool. You know I’m still a fool for you, Chloe. Now more than ever. I mean, look, you’ve given me two perfect children. Chloe: Well, you had a little something to do with that too. Philip: And our little girl ... she looks exactly like you. Exactly. Man, I hope she never meets anyone like me. Chloe: Well, if she does, I hope she’s a lot smarter about it than I was. I hope she realizes how lucky she is and never lets him go. Chloe kisses Philip. Chloe: I missed you so much. Philip: I missed you. Chloe, sweetie, I owe you an apology. Chloe: For what? Philip: You were absolutely right. I should never have gone to Israel. I shouldn’t have left you. I feel like I missed so much time with you. Chloe: Well, it’s hard to refuse the President’s orders. That reminds me. I have something for you. It’s in your study. Be right back. Philip: Something to do with the President??? Chloe places the baby in her carrier seat and she goes to the study and returns a moment later. She sits on the couch again and hands Philip a book.
Chloe: Here. Philip: What’s this? Chloe: It’s a diary. Philip: I don’t understand. Chloe: You know what a diary is. Philip: Yeah, a journal. Chloe: You know how I was texting you all the time the first two weeks you were in Israel. Philip: Uh huh. Chloe: Well, after we found out you had gone missing and had probably been taken hostage, I obviously couldn’t text you anymore. But there was so much I wanted to say to you. Philip: Like reminding me to change the lightbulb? Chloe: No, silly. Like telling you everything that was happening here, everything I was thinking about, as if you were home and we were talking. Look, I wrote down some cute things that Wesley said. Philip: Ha! Chloe: And here, the baby kicked and I wrote about how it made me feel. And when I was singing opera during rehearsals, I wanted you to know how grateful I was that you gave me that opportunity. Philip: I just want to see you happy. Chloe: I didn’t realize I’d be keeping the journal for so long. But, I just knew you were coming back, and I wanted you to feel like you were here all along. Like you didn’t miss anything. Philip: There must be hundreds of pages here. Chloe: I know. I kind of became obsessed with writing everything down. I guess it made me miss you just a little less. It made me feel like I was really talking to you. Philip: I don’t know what to say. This is amazing. This ... this is truly a gift. Chloe: No, you’re truly a gift. Philip: Sweetie. Philip put the diary aside and placed his hands on Chloe’s face. He took her in his arms and kissed her for the next few minutes, until the baby started fussing. Philip: I think she’s tired and wants to check into her permanent accommodations. Chloe: I think she’s hungry and she wants Mommy’s breast. Philip: My daughter and I have a lot in common.
To be continued. Tune in tomorrow for the Epilogue ...

A gril to go with their boy. They have 30 days to name her. The way Philip was talking at the end it looks like he forgot the discharge instructions. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch

I believe Philip is aware of the discharge instructions, DJM, but it's been a long time since he's been around Chloe. A man can dream, right?
Dang. We should have had a baby-naming contest. Wish I'd have thought of that. The baby's name will be revealed in the epilogue. Any thoughts about what her name will be or should be?

I really liked this sweet chapter. It's nice to see them share a peaceful moment after everything they've been through. I love that the baby is a girl. I've been hoping for a girl for them ever since we found out Chloe was pregnant. Girl names...hmm....

I think you might be onto something SG. Whatever her name ends up being, I'm sure it will be perfect.

I think Faith would be the perfect name for her. They had to have so much faith to get to were they are. If not Faith I like Emily Rose. Kate is out as a name and so is Nancy. She did not even call Chloe while Philip was missing.
