I too will greatly miss Molly... her last day also happens to be mine, as I have elected to stop watching after over 25 years. I've just gotten fed up with all of the casting changes and the lack of direction the show has... That said, I wish her nothing but the best of luck and I'll definitely be following her career no matter where it goes. And I also joined this board to talk Days (I may not watch it, but doesn't mean I won't discuss it! lol) and fanfic.  I will miss her as well..and when I resume watching after the Olympics, I will be leaving when she does. Days has never been my favorite, but I enjoyed it more than ever from 2007- mid-2011 (I know many didn't but that was the first time the show ever hooked him completely.) and it saddens me that I am about to become a one soap fan now. First time since I was a very young child. I guess it is only fitting that I started with GH and I end with it (Not that I want GH cancelled) My love of Days lives on in the fanfiction I write. So at least there is that. |

I have been watching Days for 27 years and Jay's last airdate, was my last time to watch it!! I know everyone says your loyalty should be with the show and not to a person, but I don't feel that way at all. TPTB treated alot of the cast, even Jay; like poo and I wasn't going to stand for it anymore. If they want to cater to Sami and Rafe, let them, but they lost a loyal supporter in the midst of all that. |

Tonight was the first night in a year and a half that I actually sat down and watched all of Days and I really am sad that Molly is leaving Days. She is such a good actress and brings alot to the show and her character. Does anyone know/think that Nick and Gabby will end up together and what will happen to Chad when Melanie leaves??

I am hoping they do Gabi and Chad somehow and not have him become some cliche Dimera "villain". I want Chad darker from this experience, but I think he is a good person and needs to retain that side too. |

You could def tell that Molly loved the charatcer Melanie and she just did a really good job with the character. I only met her once, but she was very sweet and very energetic!!!! lol!!!!! I could def tell on yesterday's show that Gabi and Nick would end up together and I don't want Chad to be the next Dimera villan. I really wish that they would bring Chelsea back so there would be another girl. I mean are Nick and Chad gonna fight over Gabi??!! |

No it was changed to the 28th....tomorrow. Probably because of the Labor Day preemption.

Oh ok......I still hate to see her leave though. Has anyone watched Scandal Crest? It would be hard for me to see someone else play Melanie, but if they cast the right person for the role, I wouldn't be too disappointed

How do you all feel about a recast of the Melanie character? This is a hard one for me because I do love the character but I think that Molly's portrayal of the character is what gave Melanie so much life. I just hold out hope that she will come back at some point but who knows if that will happen. She had so much chemistry with so many characters/actors on the show. It's such a loss.  |

I say leave it alone. I have a bad feeling Days isn't going to be on the air much past 2013 or 2014. If, God forbid, the show is canceled, I could see Molly returning for a happy ending with her family.
Even if the show stays on, I don't think she'd slam doors entirely. She's working with the Days cast on Scandal Crest, she still sees them from time to time...
I agree, though. It's such a loss. I'm really happy for her and I know we'll see her on stuff in the future, but it's going to be different seeing her in other roles. I think she could really pull off a sitcom if the right one came along.

How do you all feel about a recast of the Melanie character? I am not opposed to recasts in general for any character with the right actor. I think about how GH recast the character of Carly a number of times after Sarah Brown left, and how they kept that character going and she is a lead on the show...and I sometimes wish Days would do that with some of theirs...like Philip for instance. I also think Melanie is a character that could live on. BUT then on the other side I agree with sjw322 that Molly really brought Melanie to life and it was her performance that made the character shine. So if they ever did recast her, it would need to be with a really good actress. |

I like the girl that plays Carly on GH. She's a great actress!! Molly is gonna be a tough act to follow. I don't think there is an actress that will ever be able to be Melanie as good as Molly was
