After four years in Salem, Emmy nominee Molly Burnett (Melanie) will be exiting the show at the end of June. "Going in, I knew it was a four-year contract and look, it's been the most amazing experience," she tells Digest exclusively. "Everyone is so loving and so wonderful and so supportive. It's going to be so hard.... I mean, this is my family. I came out here and I knew nothing, I knew no one and DAYS just kind of opened its arms and took me in. I look at it as four years of the best training any actor could have ever been given." As for her future plans, she notes, "I just want to go explore; see what's up with this whole world." www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-dayss-burnett-confirms-exit

Happy for her. Extremely sad for me. ( the only good part of this is that we will be getting some amazing goodbye scenes that I'm sure will have me sobbing by eyes out. Suzanne and Molly saying goodbye? Oh please. Cry-fest.

Happy for the actress and wish her the best. For the character, eh. After the Nathan mess, I couldn't muster up enough enthusiasm for Melanie.

I hate to see her leave bc I enjoyed watching her on Days, but I do wish her the best of luck in the future and I have no doubt that she will have a bright and promising future in Hollywood

The writing was on the wall. Best of luck to her. I will miss feisty Melanie, but I will not miss the Melanie that they have made her.

*shrugs* Eh. Personally, I'm tired of Melanie and see little use for her as a character. However, she's definitely been given the short stick lately, so I can't say I blame Molly for not resigning. As for Molly, godspeed and good luck.

I have to say I'm thrilled. Did not like the character at all, despised how so many characters with potential were destroyed in the process of falling for her, and hated the eggbaby storyline. I just hope she takes Daniel with her.

My favorite female character of all time on Days. I wish her well and I hope she has the career she desires. After this terribly boring year, I wish she could have ended her contract sooner.
As a viewer, I will miss her terribly. She is what has kept me so interested in the show for the past 4 years. Her story with Philip is my favorite Days storyline ever...and I have been watching off and on since I was a kid.
I honestly will have no reason at all to watch the show once Melanie is gone. Very sad for me as a soap fan.

I hate to see Molly/Melanie leave but I really can't blame her. They gave her a great storyline with Phillip and I loved her interaction with Victor and how she got away with things that others couldn't with him. But I hate what they have done to her recently.
Best of luck & well wishes to Molly. I know that she will be very successful in whatever career path she chooses.

I wonder if they'll recast Melanie.

I wouldn't see the point.

If they can't do a better story with Melanie's character, then just let her stay gone for a while. Not looking forward to an instant recast.
Maybe just do a story where she's going to visit with Max & Chelsea for a while - but I have to wonder what's going to happen with Chad. With Melanie leaving, does this mean that Gabi gets him after all? If so, I'm gonna be ticked b/c I can't stand Gabi right now!!

If someone would paste the head back on the Barbie doll, Gabi might be normal again.
Maybe Gabi offs Melanie. Or shoves her in a tunnel until an appropriate story can be crafted. Maybe she meets one of Sonny's older brothers, falls in love, and gets whisked away somewhere.

No! She can't go into the tunnels! That's where Lexie's tumor came from!
