I'm really thinking her departure will have to do with Nick.Most fans I've seen want "crazy Nick"back,so maybe that's what's going to happen.Purely speculation,but I think it would be interesting to see Nick stalk her again,and then off her.He already offed Willow and Trent years ago.

I really like Molly I think she is very talented and I wish her well. However, I have never been a fan of the character of Melanie, mainly because I can't stand how so many amazing characters were sacrificed simply to prop up her character. I will miss Molly, but not Melanie if that makes any sense.

I wish Molly the best. I see no point in recasting Melanie at the moment. She's not involved in any interesting story. She could always go to Europe to see Carly and Nicholas.

While I understand and support her decision this still sucks. I had such hope that they would restore the old Mel but I guess that won't happen anytime soon .

That's my guess, but I just hope she has a nice ending and not that Nick goes nutso & kills her.

I certainly hope they don't kill her off. That would be terrible. I would like a nice exit. With a lot of heartfelt scenes. I think both the character and the actress deserves a nice goodbye.

I am happy for the actress. I really think it's the right thing for her to do and I think she'll be working again soon. I thought I read that Nick's return DID have to do with her exit story. Not sure how. I was kind of hot and cold on Melanie. Sometimes I really liked her (mostly when she was irritating the heck out of Stephanie) and sometimes I couldn't stand her. BUT like her or hate her you can't deny she got a lot of attention and I think that's a good thing. I'm sure I'll miss her.
To me the worst thing about all of this is that is seems the writers decided to make her character almost completely irrelevant for the past few months. I too hope she at least gets a good send off.

They will probably just send her on a walk about and bring her back at some point in time.

Cue the tears: Molly Burnett (Melanie) is taping her final scenes in Salem today. "It's been a very emotional time," admits the actress, who is leaving the soap after four years. "I had my final scenes with Shawn Christian [Daniel] yesterday. Those were hard. But I've made a lot of friends on DAYS and I know that we'll keep in touch. DAYS is my family. I'm always in contact with my TV mom, Crystal [Chappell, ex-Carly]."

Hopefully that means she gets a decent exit or at least some good scenes before she leaves town.
