I was worried Tony was next too... I think I'm even a teeny, tiny bit sad that Andre's dead. Definitely an eventful chapter!

Chapter 6 DiMERA MANSION André fell to the ground, dead. Tony ran to his side and checked for a pulse. There was none. He got up and looked at Marlena and John. TONY: He's dead. They heard sirens approaching. MARLENA: That must be the Salem PD. All of these dead bodies...this isn't going to look good. TONY: No, it certainly isn't. Which is why I have a favor to ask of the two of you. JOHN: What's the favor? Tony picked up the gun, which was now lying next to André's body on the floor. TONY: Say nothing. Don't tell the Salem PD who I really am. Don't tell them anything about what really happened here tonight. A police officer walked in. OFFICER: Drop your weapon! Tony put down the gun and put his hands in the air. The police officer began to handcuff him. OFFICER: André DiMera, you are under arrest for the murders of Kristen Blake, Peter Blake, Anna DiMera, Stefano DiMera, Elvis DiMera, Alexandra Carver, Lawrence Alamain, Ivan Marais, Bart Beiderbecke, Dr. Wilheim Rolf, as well as the kidnapping, torture, and murder of Antony DiMera. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attourney and to have that attourney present with you during questioning. If you cannot afford an attourney, one will be given to you. Do you understand the rights as I have read them? TONY: Yes. Of course the police officer had it all wrong. The man he had arrested was Tony, not André, but he didn't know, or care. The police officer walked Tony out of the DiMera Mansion and into a police car. John and Marlena followed close behind.

I too am wondering what Tony has up his sleeve. That is some long list of murder victims. One of the best lines of dialogue ever: MARLENA: All of these dead bodies...this isn't going to look good.

Ten Years Later OUTSIDE O'HAIRE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT During his court trial, Tony (posing as André) pled guilty to one count of kidnapping, one count of torture, and eleven counts of murder. The jury, of course, found him guilty. However, he was able to work out an agreement with the judge to get a lighter sentance: life in prison. Before going in, he asked John and Marlena one more time to hold their tongues. They would never tell anybody that the person everybody thought was André was really Tony. Tony's fellow inmates described him as a model prisoner. After only ten years, he was able to get out on good behavior. John and Marlena took him from jail, and Tony requested to go to the airport. John's car stopped outside the airport. The three of them got out. TONY: Thank you both for keeping silent about the truth. MARLENA: You shouldn't have done that, Tony. You shouldn't have let them beleive you were André. You didn't deserve ten years in prison. TONY: Maybe not. But, nevertheless, thank you for not letting them know that. JOHN: There's just one thing that's been bothering us for these ten years. TONY: What would that be, John? JOHN: You didn't struggle when they were handcuffing you. Pled guilty to eleven murders that you didn't commit. You didn't even try to proove that you weren't André. Why? TONY: I suppose you could call it...revenge. MARLENA: Revenge? TONY: Stefano made André into a carbon copy of me many years ago. From that day forward, André has done everything in his power to ruin me. He's chained me up. Tried to kill me a few times. He's been absolutely horrible to me. He's destroyed my good name. He's impersonated me since the day he had that surgery to make him my double. So, what better way to pay him back, then to impersonate him? Tony chuckled slightly. TONY: It's funny, actually. André was always the master of disguise. Who would have ever thought that it would be the origin of that disguise that would be the ultimate end to him? I took on André's identity, so that I could have the final say in my life. He had taken everything I owned. So, what was left, but to take it back, and more? To take on his personality. Tony looked at his watch. Listen to this for the remainder of the chapter: TONY: I need to go. MARLENA: but why? TONY: Salem. It was so...nice when I first came here. But then Stefano and André came along. And they ruined it for me. This town has too many bad memories in it. If I stay here, I'll go mad. I might turn into André, or worse. So, I have to go. MARLENA: We'll miss you, Tony. TONY: And I shall miss you, Marlena. Tell everyone I say hello. Maybe when I find a place to finally settle down, I'll have you over to visit. Until then, have a nice life. Both of you. JOHN: You too, Tony. Tony and Marlena hugged. John and Tony shook hands. Then, Tony headed into the airport. John and Marlena stayed there until his plane was out of sight... THE END Lok for "THIS CHARMING MAN" to start this coming Monday. Previews for the story will be shown tomorrow.
