Recasts? (Read 954 times)

Just curious. If TPTB were actually going to listen to us, what would you tell them? Would you rather see your favorite character recast (assuming it would be a good one - no Charity Rahmer please) or are you devoted only to your favorite actor?

You can chose as many characters as you want (and maybe even make suggestions) but please choose only one in the Character vs. Actor part (yes, this is two polls in one).

ONLY Jay can play Philip!!!! Kyle Brandt was the worst Philip ever and not to mention that he wasn't a good actor. I met him once in real life (Kyle Brandt) and that was one time too many. I really hope that they never recast Philip or Chloe.

If they expect me to keep watching after Molly leaves they better hire one of these strong actors to play Philip. I don't like the show without his character.

I am not opposed to recasts. There have been some I really liked. ...especially on other soaps. I thought Shawn and Belle were recast well.

I wouldn't mind a stronger actress playing Chloe...but her look is so distinctive, it might be jarring to fans.

Yes, by checking a character you are saying that you'd like the character back even if your favorite actor won't be in the role.

The caveat is that the actor hired as the recast WILL be a good actor. So, assuming the actor is good, would you like to see your character come back to town?

Oh and Robert K Kelly is Bo to me...so yeah I will take a good recast of just about anyone.

Rumored ...but her contract is up this summer. Hopefully she will get to do better things that challenge her and showcase her talents.

I liked Kierker Kelly too. I think that Martsolf is a much better actor and much nicer to look at than Lowder was as Brady. I liked Martha Madison as Belle, but I also liked Kristin Storms. They were each right as Belle at that point in time. I didn't like Beemer as Shawn, no matter how good looking he is.

But Philip? And Chloe? No, I don't want them recast. In my opinion, Jay and Nadia own those roles. I would feel cheated.

This is tough...I am more character driven for sure..I accept recasts unless they are so horrible like Charity.. I will give my answers a bit later....I accepted Kyle Brandt & Kelker-Kelly, all 3 Billie's so I am very flexible.

Considering how Eric Brady hasn't been on the show since 2000 and the fact that Jensen Ackles is too busy with his primetime show Supernatural to come back to Days, I could accept an Eric Brady recast. It would be good for newer viewers to finally get a chance to meet Sami's twin brother Eric and by bringing him back it could open up a whole lot of storyline possibilities for Sami, Nicole, Marlena, John, Roman, and Brady. It also would be a great way to move Nicole out of EJ's orbit for awhile especially since I am hoping that somehow Nicole's baby is going to turn out to be Brady's now that Nicole and Brady mentioned not using protection while having sex. It has been so long since Eric has been on the show that a recast wouldn't end up being really all that noticeable except to hardcore Days fans. I'm not sure who I would want to see be recasted in the role. I know that there were some rumors out there about Kyle Lowder taking over the role but I'm not sure how that would work out since it hasn't been all that long ago that he played the role of Brady and too many Brady fans would probably rather have him go back to the role of Brady instead. I think it could actually be kinda interesting to see him come back as Eric and be involved in a romance with Nicole again since he has really great onscreen chemistry with Ari Zucker despite the fact that they are married in real life. It also would be really interesting to see a love triangle with Eric/Nicole/Brady.

I would love for Shawn and Belle to come back to the show but if Shawn is going to come back I really don't want him to be recasted since it looks like Jason Cook may be leaving General Hospital soon and I would much rather have him come back as Shawn then Brandon Beemer or a recast. I would love to see Martha Madison come back as Belle but unfortunately her and Jason Cook didn't have much chemistry together and she looks a lot older than him so it would look weird to have someone play Belle that looks and acts a lot older than her husband who is supposed to be around the same age as her. I didn't mind Kristen Storms in the Belle role and I guess if Jason Cook was to come back I could deal with Kristen Storms coming back to play Belle since her and Jason do have good chemistry with each other. I know a lot of people think that KS looks too young to have a child Claire's age but on General Hospital Kristen actually looked a lot older and more maturer so I could actually see her having a kid on Days if they made Claire a little younger than she is supposed to be.

There is absolutely no way that I want to see Chloe, Philip or Bo be recasted. I would much rather see TPTB try really hard to work with the original actors to make it worth their time to come back to Days.

I am character driven as well. Being a diehard Philip fan, I still can accept a recast. I think the problem with Kyle (for me) was that he wasn't a strong enough actor and they didn't write Philip well during that time. If they are going to give a new Philip the same types of things they were giving Jay 2007-2011, then I want a really good actor in the role. I can think of a few that can pull it off. Jay is talented, but there are others who could do Philip just as much justice.

Any other character I am willing to see recast, except Victor. In fact there are a few characters I would LOVE to see recast with a stronger actor.

I agree with Karebr that it is best if they try really hard to get originals back, namely Jay for me. I just think Jay brought something to the show that is currently missing. He had talent and a look. And since fans tended to like him, why not try everything possible to get him back.

However, Days without Philip (or a Philip type) has been unwatchable for me. So I need Jay back or a recast...but either way I can't watch without that character.

Philip is my favorite character on Days and I'm really not watching it right now because he isn't on there. I may catch it on soap net, but I don't tune into it like I used to when Jay was on there. I doubt if Nadia ever comes back because they have asked her twice and she has turned them down twice due to money. I doubt if Jay ever comes back, but he might if the offer is right. I guess it just all depends on whether or not he lands anything in prime time. And Nadia might strictly do movies from now on. I think I remember her saying that she would rather do movies then prime time. Even if they do bring the character of Philip back, Jay would have to reprise his role as Philip before I would ever tune in and watch again.
