We've all been watching the show for a different length of time and I was wondering who it was who intrigued you most in the beginning and kept you interested.
I go way back with Days and for me it was Bill and Laura, star-crossed lovers who actually got together at long last.
I was crazy about their son Mike Horton. One of the longest story arcs in Days history was Mike's paternity. He was really Bill's son, but everyone thought he was Mickey's for years and years, until he was a teenager. I also really liked Mike and his first girlfriend Trish.
Who were your first favorites?

When I think back over all the many years I've watched Days, my first "love" was the Jack/Jennifer storyline. When I was 12-13 I vividly remember talking about them at school and racing home to see what was going to happen on the Cruise of Deception. This "love" is why I'm so upset about the current storyline. REALLY doesn't seem fair to the history.
If I were a bit older I think I really would've like the Bill/Laura story. I've read about it and it just sounds really soapy and good.
I think I'd put Patch and Kayla in 2nd place with Bo and Hope a very close 3rd. Ah, the classics. The late 80s-early 90s was a golden time in my opinion.

When I really started paying attention I was a teen so I was drawn to Shawn and Belle. But even when I was little I loved Bo. So I guess he was my first.

When I think about when I first started watching the show, I always think about Sami. I had started watching not long before Alison Sweeney came on as Sami. I grew up with her and her scheming to get Austin.

I am like MrsMahaffy! I remember watching it when I was young. I most vividly remember Marlena being posessed, which was a ridiculous storyline to begin with. But I started watching it religiously on my own about 2 months or so before Belle/Shaw/Brady/Philip were all sorased to teenagers and so began the last blast teen era. I fell in love with Belle and Shawn, only as played by Kristen Storms and Jason Cook. But my all time favorite couple is Philip and Chloe. They are meant for each other!

Going waaay back, to the beginning, probably Tom and Alice Horton and the goings on surrounding their children. Early Bo and Hope, and their many adventures. Some Marlena and Roman/John adventures. Patch.

My first love on Days was Jack and Jenn's story. I hated Jack with a fire of a thousand suns but boy did Days know how to write a redemption story then because Jenn's love for Jack and his love for her won me over and I became a huge fan of not only the couple but Jack the character. One of the most heartbreaking scenes was this scene when Frankie tells Jack that Jennifer needs him, this was after Jenn had been raped by Lawrence. Jack realizes that the love of his life has been victimized by a monster, but he himself did that type of victimization to Kayla years prior, Karma at it's finest but check out Jack's reaction and him and Frankie's scenes were great...this is one of the best ones:
Then this little scene with him finally admitting to what he had done. Boy would it be great to get EJ prosecuted for what he's doing to Sami now with the fake Rafe and to hear him admit to raping her back in 2006. I know it's wishful thinking but it would be amazing if it happened this way:

It depends on when you count from... I remember seeing Days as a kid when my mom would watch, and I really remember Roman and Marlena as well as Doug and Julie vividly. Doug and Julie in particular had some classically sweet romantic moments. When I re-started watching while I was in college, it was Lucas and Sami...Lucas was still in his military school uniform, and I always have loved a man in uniform...so I was hooked! If there's one thing better than Bryan Datillo, it's Bryan Datillo in a uniform! But seriously--I enjoyed their chemistry and the SLs that they had, and that's what kept me watching.

I used to like Frankie (though loved Billy Warlock more on GH).
I always liked Lucas too...loved Patrick Muldoon's Austin (I wanted Sami to get him. I hate Carrie)
JKJ/Philip was the first character on Days that ever made me really really interested. Philip is really complex and has gotten better over the years in terms of depth.

My First Favorite on Days was Bo and Bo/Hope as a couple. I adored him/them back in those early days - that dark curly hair, that leather jacket and motorbike - a junior high girl's dream man!! Then I grew up , but I still love me some Bo and Bope! Peter Reckell only gets hotter with age! I also liked Jack & Jenn, Shane, and Steve. I like Steve & Kayla as a couple and root for them, would never want either paired with another but I can't say that I was ever a huge Kayla fan. Same goes for Shane and Kim, except that I outright don't like Kim and would have welcomed a different pairing for him back then. My next faves and my favorite faves are Lucas and Sami. I liked Patrick Muldoon's Austin too and also hated Carrie but as soon as Lucas came on the scene he was the one I wanted for my girl Sami. I just love them. To me they will always have the best soap story ever.

I'm not exactly sure when I started watching Days. I want to say late 80's/early 90's. I only vaguely remember the storylines/characters of that time since I really didn't become a faithful watcher until around the time Ali Sweeney took the role of Sami. So I know that the quad of Sami/Lucas/Carrie/Austin was one of my favorites. I think I always liked Sami because she and I are close in age, so I felt like I could relate to her in some way. I was always a Jack/Jenn fan and I liked Lisa Rinna's Billie with Bo but when Hope came back I wanted them back together. John and Marlena. I remember the buried alive plot with Carly/Vivian. I think I was aware of or at least familiar with some of the earlier storylines, such as early Bope, Shane/Kimberly, Patch/Kayla but it's hard for me to actually say whether or not I watched them. I'm sure I caught some of those during the summer months when I was off school. I used to love all the outdoor stuff they used to do and on-location shoots. Too bad they can't fit that in the budget anymore because that was always fun to watch.

Sami and Lucas are the characters that hooked me for sure. Sami trying to give away her sister...priceless. Have always loved Kate. When Philip grew up he move to the top of the list for me and has remained there ever since. I also had a little thing for Frankie. What can I say? ;D Kay and Patch's love story was the best Days has ever written. Brady since his return has also become someone I liked and am loving the guy more and more every day.

I started watching in 84 and it was Bo and Hope falling in love and having many adventures. We came home from jr high to watch on our vcr after school! Shane and Kim and Patch and Kayla soon followed with all of their romance and adventures. The 80's were awesome on soaps. Loads of money was spent on lavish weddings, on location shoots in other countries, and the big stories with most of the cast like the Cruise of deception. I loved the stories with Philip/Chloe/Shawn/Belle and all the high school crew.

Ahh, Bo and Hope in '84. I was 7, but I still vividly remember watching this exact scene. Even then I thought it was sooo romantic, or at least a 7 year old's idea of romance. I knew my mom loved it though, so I guess I should too.
