THAT EVENING AT THE LAKE HOUSE
 
Philip: Chloe, I’m home.
He begins looking at the mail which is sitting on a Queen Anne table in the entrance hall. A young woman he doesn’t know approaches, startling him.
Babysitter: Oh hi Mr. Kiriakis.
Philip: Who are you?
Babysitter: I’m Lindsey, a friend of Gabi’s. She couldn’t make it, so she asked me to babysit for you guys in her place.
Philip: Oh. Okay. What do I owe you?
Lindsey: Thirty dollars.
Philip peels off two 20s and gives it to the girl.
Lindsey: Thanks!
Philip: Wesley sleeping?
Lindsey: Yeah.
Philip: Where’s my wife?
Lindsey: She’s out shopping. She left you a note. I think it’s in the kitchen.
Philip: Do you have a way to get home?
Lindsey: Yup. I have my car. Bye Mr. Kiriakis.
Philip: Yeah, thanks … um … Lindsey.
Philip heads into the kitchen and finds the note … an envelope with Philip’s name hand-written on the outside and a folded piece of paper inside. He takes it out and reads it.

Dear Philip,

This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I’m leaving you and Wesley. I’ve met someone else and I tried to fight it but I can’t anymore. I know that you and Wesley will do fine without me and that’s the only reason I can do this. I’m sorry, Philip. Take care of each other.

I can't believe Phillip would believe that. Of course, if someone kidnaps Chloe I guess it will help him believe it.

OMG. What will Philip's reaction to the note be? I can't stand the suspense. That was a great chapter kpatch, but it was kinda short. Could you post another chapter later? Please?

Poor Philip. I hope he does not think the note is for real. He should also be thinking that Chloe would not just leave the baby with anyone. Hope he is using his brains this time. Another chapter would be wonderful. Thanks Kpatch.

oh my god I hope Philip is okay can't wait to read MORE! What Philip really wan't hurt? Somebody just lied to her so they could kidnap her!!! I smell Kate and Victor's name all over this! This story gets trickier and trickier can't wait to read MORE!

THE LAKE HOUSE

Philip has read the note Chloe left him. He calmly puts it down. He then goes upstairs to look in on Wesley who is sleeping like an angel, completely unaware that he is going to grow up without his mother.

Philip feels physically ill as he heads back downstairs. He reaches into the liquor cabinet and takes out a bottle of scotch. He pours himself a glass and downs it quickly, then pours himself another and another and another. He lies down on the sofa staring at the ceiling while balancing the highball glass on his chest. He tries unsuccessfully to suppress his thoughts and dull his emotions, but the stream of consciousness makes its way to his alcohol-soaked brain.

How could she do this? Why? What did he do wrong? He gave her everything. His heart, his soul, his mind, his body. It didn’t make any sense. He should have seen it coming. But there were no hints, no signs, nothing that would tell him anything was “off.” Just this morning she told him she loved him. Was it all a lie? Hell, she was carrying his baby. Wasn’t she? Or wasn’t it his? Yes yes, of course it was. She became pregnant while they were in the safe house. Didn’t she? Or was Chloe having an affair before the safe house? Oh god, she turned to Daniel. She said she turned to Daniel. No no. That couldn’t be. Couldn’t  it?

He couldn’t believe she had left him again. It wasn’t the first time, that’s for sure. This was familiar territory for Philip. Then why did it hurt like it was the first time? Where was his axe? Where was the tree? He felt such hatred for her when he whacked at that tree. The same kind of hatred he was feeling now. Why wasn’t he ever good enough? Tears rolled down his face as he drifted to sleep.
