SAFE HOUSE, PHILIP AND CHLOE’S BEDROOM
Philip and Chloe are lying in bed with their arms around each other, each one lost in their own thoughts. Chloe: Philip, I’ve been thinking. Philip: About? Chloe: Do we really have to leave here? Philip: What do you mean? Chloe: I mean … we’ve made this place so homey and cozy and we’ve had some pretty great times here. Philip: This is coming from the woman who was bored to tears when she first got here? Chloe: That was before you gave me a new perspective on things. I’ve come to truly appreciate our Robinson Crusoe existence. Philip: I like it too … but this isn’t our house. The City owns it and the taxpayers are footing the bill for us. Chloe: Oh, I forgot about that. Philip: Most people do. Are you afraid to go back to real life? Chloe: I guess I am. He holds her tighter and kisses her head. Philip: That’s only natural. Chloe: It is? Philip: There’s an article in one of the magazines Hope gave us. You should read it. It’s about this couple who spent several years in witness protection. The article quoted some psychologists who said that it’s normal to have feelings of dread about getting back into society after an experience like that. They said it takes a while to re-acclimate. Chloe: We’ve only been here two months. I can’t imagine what I would feel like if we were here for years. You know Philip, sometimes it feels like there’s no one else in the world except you, me, and Wesley. And I like it that way. Philip: I like it that way too, sweetie. Part of me wishes it could stay this way forever too, but from a practical standpoint, it can’t. Chloe: There you go being practical again. Do you think … do think we’re really safe? Philip: Once Victor, Kate, Vivian, and Gus are sentenced, yes, I do think we’re safe. Don’t you want to get back to our dream home on the lake? Chloe: Oh, I looove our lake house. I love our bedroom and our veranda and my music room and the way we painted Wesley’s bedroom. Philip: And the gourmet kitchen. Don’t forget about the kitchen. Chloe smiles coyly. Chloe: I’ll get around to visiting the kitchen one of these days. Philip: Sounds like you’re starting to get a little homesick already. Chloe: You’re right, I am. Thank you for reminding me that we had a great life there before all this happened. Philip: And we’ll have it again after all this. You’ll see. Chloe: I know we will. She looks at him. Chloe: Philip, I love you. Philip: I love you more. Chloe doesn’t say anything. Philip: Earth to Chloe. Your turn. Chloe: Oh, sorry, I was daydreaming about being home in our lake house. … Let’s see. I love you. You love me more. My turn. ... I seriously doubt that. Philip: That’s more like it. They laugh, kiss and scoot under the covers.

I love the way they've grown to love being at the safe house. Chloe quickly learned the advantages to being there. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. Thanks Kpatch.

Loved the chapter. So sweet that they have made the safe house home and don't want to leave. Glad that Philip pointed out all they have to look forward too once they do get back to real life. Can't wait for the next chapter.

I am enjoying their serenity. They need it as I have a feeling they're going to be facing a whirlwind soon.

THE SAFE HOUSE, NEXT DAY Justin and Adrienne have arrived. Justin: Wow, you guys look great. Adrienne: Justin is right. Safe house living seems to agree with you, especially you, Chloe. Philip: She brought an arsenal of makeup. Chloe: Shuddup. Thank you for the compliment, Adrienne. Philip: What have you got? Justin: I spoke to the judge about your situation. He agreed to allow you to give written testimony. It will be read at the trials, but you don’t have to actually appear. Chloe: That’s amazing news. Philip: Yeah, it takes a lot of pressure off. Justin: I’ve prepared these forms for you to fill out. There’s room for you to detail your experiences. But I’d caution you to just stick to the facts. Don’t go off on tangents or get too emotional. I suggest you write out your responses on a separate piece of paper to begin with. Then you can transfer your answers to the form. Philip: Thanks for being on our side, Justin. Justin: Hey, the facts speak for themselves. Uncle Victor arranged for your son to be kidnapped and for you to be brainwashed and for Chloe to believe you both died. No matter how I feel about the man personally, that’s illegal and unconscionable. Adrienne: We have kids too. I mean we’re just lucky that Victor never did that to us. Philip is looking through the papers Justin gave them. Philip: I don’t see a form for Gus. Justin: Didn’t Bo tell you? Philip: Tell me what? Justin: Gus hasn’t been found. He’s the only one of the four who’s still missing. Or dead. We’re not sure. Philip: Oh god. Justin: I didn’t know you cared about him so much. Out of the four of them, I’d say he’s the least of our worries. Philip: I know, but he’s just Vivian’s minion. I hope he’s not dead. I just … I don’t want to be responsible for … Justin: The hurricane was responsible for demolishing that structure. Not you. Anyway, take your time composing your testimonies. Chloe: How much time? Justin looks at Adrienne. Justin: We’ll be back in two days. Adrienne: Bye you guys. Take care.
After Justin and Adrienne leave, Philip and Chloe sit at the kitchen table writing their testimonies. Philip mindlessly looks over at Chloe’s paper. Chloe: What is this? High school? Eyes on your own paper, mister. Philip: Sorry. I was just … nothing. Nevermind. Chloe: Philip, it’s okay. I was just trying to cut the tension a little. Philip: This is serious. Dead serious. Chloe: Believe me, I know. Philip: I need to take a break. I need some air. I’m going out back. Chloe: Wait, I’ll come with you. Chloe takes the baby monitor so she can hear Wesley inside, and they go out to the little patio in the back of the house. Philip stretches and fills his lungs with the outdoors. He puts his arm around Chloe. Philip: We’re in the home stretch, Chloe. It’s almost over. Chloe: I feel it too. Philip: Maybe you’re right, Chloe. Chloe: No maybes about it. I am right. But you have to be more specific. What am I right about? Philip: Maybe we should live somewhere other than Salem. Move out of the country. Start over. Chloe: Out of the country? Like where? Philip: I don’t know. England. France. Hawaii. Chloe: Um, Hawaii is part of this country. Philip: Yeah, but it’s far enough away that it counts as another country. Chloe: No wonder Mr. Fairchild gave you an F in geography. Philip: So, what do you say? You up for an adventure? The Kiriakises Abroad? Chloe: Last time I moved out of the country wasn’t such a roaring success. Philip: I’m not Brady. Chloe: No kidding. Philip: I mean, this time will be different. We’ve proven that the three of us can live anywhere and be happy. Chloe: That’s true. Philip: Then it’s settled. Chloe: No it’s not. Nothing is settled.

Maybe they are not safe yet. I bet Gus is going to make them pay for what Philip did. I had a feeling Gus was still out there somewhere. This is very exciting. Can't wait till tomorrow. Thanks Kpatch.

I'm with DJM... this Gus being missing troubles me. I highly doubt he died as that would be too easy.

I think Gus is out to do some of Vivian's dirty work.
Wonder what Chloe means by "nothing's settled"...

Uh oh. Gus is devoted to Vivian and will do anything for her. He is a loose cannon. They better find him before he finds them.
