Awww. I'm glad they are stopping in Chicago to see everyone. I'm glad Philip told him the truth about Chloe being there too. It would not go over well if they ran into her. Which I have a feeling will happen during some of these sessions with Mary.

Chapter 470b
“Doesn’t mommy ever want to see me?” Parker asked his father.
Philip nearly burst into tears hearing Parker’s innocent question. “I’m sure she does,” he rasped. “I think once she’s able to sort through her feelings about everything that happened, she definitely will want to see you.” Parker grew quiet, so Philip asked, “What are you thinking?”
“I keep hoping you’ll get back together,” Parker said quietly.
“I know the feeling.” Philip had experience with those same feelings. Wanting your parents to be together is so basic. “I wanted my parents to get back together too.” Eventually he realized that would have been a very bad idea.
“If grandma and grampa broke up and you and mommy broke up, does that mean I will too?”
“No! No, of course not, kiddo,” he answered quickly. He absolutely hated how all this had affected his little boy. “Everyone is different and you have such a good heart and such a loving nature that I’m sure when you fall in love with whoever you choose to love, it’ll be a forever kind of love.” Like the love he thought he and Chloe had. “You’ll be a great husband and father, I just know it.”
Philip hugged Parker to his chest thinking about how the boy’s whole life was ahead of him. He hoped and prayed it would be an amazing joy-filled life, better than it had been so far.
Staring up at the stars, Philip couldn’t help but remember feeling hopeful about his own life when he was a boy a million years ago. He wondered what he was going to do with the rest of his life now. He expected to be living his life with Chloe, raising their children together, working at Titan together. He never expected to be a single father. And he never expected to be ousted from his job. Now what?

I can’t help but feel Parker will always have a bit of a guard up from now on and who could blame him I think on going therapy will help but he’s so young and so much has happened

Very sweet, if bittersweet on some levels, scene with Philip and Parker.

THe generational trauma is really affecting Parker. I hope he's the one to break the cycle and does someday meet someone who is not going to run away the way Chloe did.

Chapter 471a
Melanie and Brady cuddled in the afterglow in his bedroom at the Betty Ford rehab center. Lying on his bare chest, Melanie asked, “Does this qualify as a conjugal visit?”
Brady laughed a little. “I suppose it does.” Squeezing her closer he said, “I’m glad you’re here.”
“There’s nowhere I’d rather be.”
“How’s the job search going?” he asked her.
“Okay I guess. I’m mostly just doing gigs for Angel Wings. It’ll tide me over until my dad’s estate gets distributed.”
“When will that be?”
“Justin says it should be pretty soon. Now that Nicole’s baby was born, they were able to prove that she really is my dad’s.” Brady merely grunted to show he was listening and Melanie added, “Did I tell you Maggie had me meet with her financial planner? He kind of burst my bubble.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I was hoping to just live on my inheritance for my whole life but the man showed me how much I’m probably gonna get after the estate is split three ways and after taxes and everything. It might last me ten years, but he said I’m too young not to have another means of income.”
“That’s a lot of big words. What did he mean split three ways?”
“Justin said Dad put me in his will after he found out I was his daughter. At the time, he still thought he was Parker’s father, and that was the last time he updated his will. So there’s me, Parker and Holly.” Melanie sighed deeply. “You know I think he never changed his will because he wanted to leave Parker money, even after he found out Parker wasn’t his. He really loved that boy.”
“If anyone’s set for life, it would be Parker. We're both Victor’s grandsons, so we got the same inheritance from Granddad,” Brady reasoned. “I guess Daniel wanted Parker to have something substantial to remember him by.”
“Maybe.” She pounded the mattress with her fist. “It still burns me that Chloe got Dad’s life insurance from his job.”
“I didn’t know that.” He briefly wondered if that’s what Chloe was living on now.
“Yeah, he listed her as his sole beneficiary while they were married and he never updated that either. I guess it’s not something people think about that often.”
Brady sensed Melanie’s mounting anger, so he changed the subject. “So, what else is new with you?”
“Um. Not much.” She played with Brady’s chest hair trying to think of something to say. “Oh! Um. Nathan’s back in Salem. He’s staying at Maggie’s.”
“Nathan Horton? The guy you were head over heels in love with? That Nathan Horton?”

Wonder how Brady will react to Nathan’s return.

A bit gross that she brought up Nathan to Brady after sleeping with Brady and she slept with Nathan shortly before She really is not a nice person and hard to feel sorry for her at all She seems more upset about her inheritance than she does about losing her dad

Chapter 471b
“Nathan’s back in Salem,” Melanie told Brady. “He’s staying at Maggie’s.”
“Nathan Horton? The guy you were head over heels in love with? That Nathan Horton?”
“I wouldn’t say that. I mean I chose to marry someone else even though I could have had Nathan.”
“You didn’t know he was your cousin back then.”
“Not by blood.” Melanie cocked her head to look at Brady. “You’re not jealous, are you?”
“Maybe a little. I mean, he’s out there free as a bird, living under the same roof as you and I’m stuck inside.”
“You have nothing to be jealous of,” she lied. When Brady gave her a half smile, she added, “I mean it. Me and Nathan were over almost a decade ago. Although—”
“Although what?”
“Hindsight’s 20-20, but I really should have chosen Nathan,” she said on a sigh. “I was blinded by the flash.” She lifted her eyes to look at Brady. “You know. The dimples. The business suit. The family name. Something told me I’d be sorry, but I didn’t listen to my gut. Something told me I’d wind up heartbroken and I did.”
“You still haven’t forgiven him for cheating on you with Chloe.”
“Well, I haven’t forgotten, if that’s what you mean.”
“Yet you’ve forgiven me.”
She leaned away. “What on earth are you talking about? You never cheated on me, or are you trying to tell me something?”
“No, nothing like that.” He squeezed her closer. “But my actions were directly responsible for your father’s death.”
“It wasn’t you,” she reasoned. “You weren’t in your right mind. You were under the influence.”
“If you’re comparing apples to apples, then you know Philip was also under the influence when he and Chloe hooked up that night.”
Melanie cringed. “That’s completely different. He knew what he was doing. You didn’t.”
Tears pooled in Brady’s eyes. “I don’t deserve your forgiveness,” he said with a cry in his voice. “I don’t deserve you.” He began to cry harder. “But, at the same time, I couldn’t bear to be without you.”
“Brady.” Melanie wrapped her arms around Brady’s torso and hugged him as hard as she could, rocking him gently. “I’m not going anywhere, you hear me? I love you and I’m here for you.” Melanie thought her words sounded sincere, but it was as if someone else spoke them. The truth was, since Nathan returned, she wasn’t sure who she loved anymore. It would be a long time before Brady got his life together, so who could blame her for being drawn to Nathan under the circumstances?

Feels like Melanie and Stephanie are still stuck in high school with Nathan Brady at least seems to be owning up to his wrong doings He has a long way to go still so hopefully he will not be getting out anytime soon

Interesting that, according to Melanie, Brady didn’t know what he was doing, but Philip did, yet they were both under the influence.

Melanie likes to keep her options open. I don't think she loves Brady or Nathan.
She was very naive to think she could live on her inheritance for the rest of her life without any additional income.

Poor Parker. I'm glad Philip reassured him. But I think he will always have his doubts about love and relationships based on what he's already been through. I love the open communication between the two of them right now.
Ummmm....sorry Mel. But if that's your logic for forgiving Brady, then you have to use that same logic for Philip. I don't think she's really in love with anyone. I think she just doesn't want to be alone and these little moments with Brady are moments just to tie her over until something better comes along. If she really loved either one of them, then the other would be an afterthought.

Melanie is completely ridiculous. She's forgiving Brady because she wants to be on his good side just in case Nathan rejects her. Did her father mean anything to her?
