6 parts - my chapters run about 30 pages long so now that I am chopping them up into digestable chunks...we are looking at about 5 pages per update.
Chapter 5 may be a bit longer. We are basically heading toward the end of the first act of the story. So lots of things happen in chapters 5-7.

I commend you. I don't have the attention span to write something that long. I am lucky if I can write a response on here.

Well expect for things to get intense for a bit. Nothing I can do to make it better. Well Sonny and Nicole do make an appearance, so maybe they will provide us some relief. But the next bit is all heavy drama. I feel like I should post an extreme angst alert or something.

We should have some kind of angst rating system. Maybe 1 to 5 broken hearts.
How many broken hearts did the previous chapters have, because some of them seemed pretty angsty to me. Is the next section 5 broken hearts?

Just posted chapter 5 pt 1
This part was so important. We now know without question where Melanie's head and heart are. This was about losing someone who is the center of your world. Philip may not be dead, but he has left a hole regardless. Can you know who the love of your life is at such a young age?
We first have Daniel, the concerned parent, and spurned lover, just not being able to fully understand his daughter's choices. Perhaps since he has chosen to close off his emotions, he expected Melanie to do the same. Now Daniel is faced with trying to be supportive while at the same time voicing his concerns. For a new father it probably seems like an impossible task. How do you guys think he is doing so far?
Then we have Kate - I love Kate. And I love Kate's love for her baby boy Philip. This is the first time we had seen Kate with her son, and even though we didn't get to listen in on a conversation between them, I think we still got a glimpse of her emotional state. Kate is strong. She's a survivor, she doesn't break when life kicks her around. So her heart is clearly broken over her son, but she is not giving up or losing hope. She and Melanie share that in common. They both vehemently believe Philip will beat his condition and recover. So how about what Kate said to Melanie? Why she hasn't tried to kill her...yet...LOL

It's a really complicated situation for Daniel since Philip is the one Chloe cheated with and the father of her baby. I don't think he wants Philip to die but he wouldn't be a bit upset if Melanie decided to move on from Philip. Yet he wants to be there for his daughter even though he's not thrilled with her choices.
I think Kate is probably hoping that Melanie will be able to bring Philip back. That along with her undying devotion to Philip have very likely saved Melanie from Kate's wrath. At least for now... The woman holds a grudge for a very long time...just ask Chloe or Sami.

I guess in some ways Melanie has an advantage over Chloe and Sami. She never really has done anything to deliberately hurt Philip. Also I wonder if Philip realized that he married someone so much like his mother...without the murderous tendencies of course.

All the things you noted above are things that struck me while I was reading. I was thinking how does a 20 year old know that someone is the love of their life. I remember when Chloe was in her coma, Stephanie said to Philip, "She was the first love of your life" and I thought that was such a silly comment. In my opinion, you don't know someone is the love of your life until you've been with them for a lifetime. And Daniel. This has got to be hard on him. As a doctor, it's his job to care for Philip. As Melanie's father, he needs to act like he cares about Philip. But there has to be a lot of conflicting emotions for him. Loved the flashbacks. Thank you for giving us a little more insight into the accident. Oh, and when you were describing what they were wearing the day Melanie found out about the ONS, I was trying to remember if that's what they wore to the christening, since that's when everyone found out about the fling. Then I remembered, in your story, Parker hadn't been born and wasn't even a twinkle in anybody's eye yet. Kate doesn't usually care whether a woman makes her sons happy or not. Her opinions are the only ones that count. Right now, I think she understands that Philip needs Melanie more than ever, and in that regard, so does Kate. I wondered if Philip's infection was his way of telling Melanie to leave Chloe alone. My last comments are about these two quotes: Philip (Kate's recollection)“He said that I didn’t understand that you were the only person that had ever looked at him like he was a good man. Like he was someone special, good enough to give your whole life to, to start a family with. He said every time you looked at him he felt truly loved. Like he was your everything.” Melanie“I told him he needed to open his eyes and look at me again because no one ever looked at me the way he did. That he made me feel so cherished and loved, like I was actually a good person, good enough to be with him. When he looked at me I felt like I was special like I meant everything to him.” They each said almost the same exact thing. But what is key to me is that they were each talking about how the other person made them feel about themselves, rather than how they felt about the other person. I thought that was interesting. Thanks for another thought-provoking chapter, Slyn. I'm ready for more!

Right now, I thinks she understands that Philip needs Melanie more than ever, and in that regard, so does Kate. I think Kate wants her children to be happy, just happy in the way she dictates. So if Philip is happy with Chloe, for example, that doesn't count as happiness to Kate, that is him being foolish or misled. Kate never said she liked Melanie, she just said she was glad she was there. It remains to be seen what Kate will think once/if Philip recovers.

Just posted update chapter 5 parts 2 and 3.
Chloe revealed a number of things in that bed. Maybe she was injected with truth serum. LOL I am a huge fan of Chloe and Nicole. So much fun to write. Every woman needs a crazy girlfriend. Nicole definitely serves that purpose in Chloe's life. I really liked how they revealed some intimate truths to each other this time. Especially liked Nicole admitting her thoughts about how Brady feels about Chloe. Kind of made me sad for my girl. What do you do when the one you love, is in love with someone else? What do we think about Chloe's revisionist history and thinking about how different things could have been if she had taken a chance with Philip? Do you guys think things would have turned out as she imagined?Daniel...man...papa bear much? There was a lot going on there. Do we believe he no longer cares about Chloe? How about his thoughts about Philip? Sounds like he might wish the man dead. Next update we are going to get into just as candid a conversation with Melanie and Brady. Melanie has been little Ms Optimist this whole time, juggling Philip and Parker, never giving up hope. Now we all know that no one is that composed. We all falter at times. Melanie is about to take off her mask for a moment with Brady and we finally will get to see more of what has really been going on inside of her. Spoiler alert - Victor is about to drop two huge bombs on both Melanie and Chloe.

Thanks for the insights and preview Slyn.
I'm a big fan of Chloe and Nicole too. I loved their honesty and that they are always there for each other. I hope Nicole makes Brady realize that she's his future.
It makes complete sense to me that Chloe would think about what could have been with Philip. They share a child and were each other's first loves. He's the person she's been able to count on... until the accident that is.
I believe that Daniel is done with Chloe. I think she was his fantasy...a trophy wife...and when she cheated with Philip his fantasy was shattered. He probably tried because of the baby she was carrying but once he found out Parker wasn't his that was the end for him. It was all the worse that she cheated with Melanie's husband. I think that was completely unforgiveable to him. Even if he still has any lingering feelings for her, he'd never act on them out of loyalty to Melanie.
