I forgot to add that I'm looking forward to Melanie admitting some truths of her own about her current situation. Not to mention Victor's bombs!

Just posted update chapter 5 parts 2 and 3. What do we think about Chloe's revisionist history and thinking about how different things could have been if she had taken a chance with Philip? Do you guys think things would have turned out as she imagined?Daniel...man...papa bear much? There was a lot going on there. Do we believe he no longer cares about Chloe? How about his thoughts about Philip? Sounds like he might wish the man dead. Next update we are going to get into just as candid a conversation with Melanie and Brady. Melanie has been little Ms Optimist this whole time, juggling Philip and Parker, never giving up hope. Now we all know that no one is that composed. We all falter at times. Melanie is about to take off her mask for a moment with Brady and we finally will get to see more of what has really been going on inside of her. Spoiler alert - Victor is about to drop two huge bombs on both Melanie and Chloe. You ask some thought provoking questions. I think from her current vantage point, a life with Philip sounds easy breezy. It's a fantasy and it's easy to think "what if." They certainly wouldn't be dealing with any of this crap they're going through today. But it's a soap, so they'd have other crap. As for Daniel, that's a tough question. See Fluffy's answer. I wonder if Brady will say some things to Melanie that will show he has a soft spot for Chloe and whether that will make Melanie go ballistic. I'm really curious about Victor's town hall meeting. I mean family meeting. LOL. I believe that Daniel is done with Chloe. I think she was his fantasy...a trophy wife...and when she cheated with Philip his fantasy was shattered. He probably tried because of the baby she was carrying but once he found out Parker wasn't his that was the end for him. It was all the worse that she cheated with Melanie's husband. I think that was completely unforgiveable to him. Even if he still has any lingering feelings for her, he'd never act on them out of loyalty to Melanie. Great post, Fluffy! Trophy wife. I like that. I think that Daniel's anger over the pain and suffering that the one night stand has caused and its snowball effect, has overshadowed any feelings he might harbor for Chloe. He sure did love her, but his own anger, coupled with the anger he feels for Melanie's sake, have eclipsed any loving kindness he ever felt for Chloe.

I never felt Chloe was his trophy wife though. I remember what he went through when she was in coma and all he did to try & save her. That was all done out of love for her. I believed he truly loved her but the hurt was too much to overcome. He didn't just lose a wife, he also lost a son and his daughter lost a husband.

I believe he loved her as much as Daniel is capable of loving someone. Chloe is a trophy wife but that doesn't diminish the love that he had for her. She fit his vision of what the perfect wife should be but then it was shattered by the ONS and Parker. He lost everything because of that one night.

Daniel lost basically his whole family in one blow, and his daughter was hurt as well. What always got me (on the show) was that Melanie found a way to forgive Philip and she seriously considered taking him back, but Daniel never could do the same with Chloe. Melanie did tell Philip the main reason they wouldn't work is because she couldn't be stepmother to the son her dad just lost and expect to still have a relationship with him. So the father daughter bond won out in the end.

Just updated ch5 pt 4. Brady and Melanie have a chat.
I would love to hear what you guys think about her choices and her internal struggle with the situation. She definitely is in a terrible position. I felt like it was important to dig a little deeper with her. A brave face, is just that a face...we needed to get real.

It was hard to tell whether Melanie was being honest with herself or overcompensating for her guilt. I'm glad that she is able to totally let her hair down around Brady. She needs someone like that, and he's someone who is completely upfront with her, whether she wants to hear it or not. I noticed that Melanie said that *mostly* she wished the Nathan stuff never happened. Interesting.
I also picked up on Brady's comment that Melanie was wasting away just like Philip. I think there is a lot of truth to that where caregivers are concerned. But in this case especially, because Melanie feels so guilty, she is unconsciously forcing herself to go through what Philip is going through. She can't really allow herself to live until he comes back to life.
A few anvils I noticed:
In Melanie's flashback, she asked Philip how many women he was planning to have children with. That was a flashback omen. I thought it was interesting that he was having a fantasy about being in Greece with Melanie, when a short time before that conversation, he was going along to Tahiti on Chloe's fantasy. One fantasy was exotic, the other traditional. Philip is wanted in sooo many fantasies. LOL. I like your fairy tale allusions Slyn. Prince Charming morphed into Sleeping Beauty in this chapter.

I liked her voicing her inner conflict. She admitted the possibility that after all of this Philip may not want her anymore or may end up hurting her again. I don't think she wants to admit the possibility that things could go on like this for years and he could eventually die. It's nice to see Brady being honest with her and listening to her.

I certainly hope not but it's something she has to realize in the back of her mind.

I'd like to think that her talk with Brady got her one step closer to accepting the horrible possibilities of the situation. There is hope and then there is denial...a fine line between the two at times.

Kind of like the fine line between love and hate. I wonder if Melanie has even considered how she would deal with Philip and Chloe sharing custody of Parker if that comes to pass.
