Chapter 5
SALEM PLACE
J.J. ran to get some napkins and was helping the girl clean off her shirt.
J.J.: I am so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going.
GIRL: It's fine. It's just a stain. I'm sure it'll come out in the wash.
The girl spoke with a light Welsh accent.
J.J.: Are you sure? Because, I will totally give you a $20 to pay you back for ruining that shirt. I know, it's probably not enough, but...
GIRL: Like I said, it's fine.
But, that didn't stop J.J. from buying her a drink. A few minutes later, they were walking around Salem Place.
J.J.: You're not from around here, are you?
GIRL: Did the accent give it away?
J.J.: Kinda.
GIRL: I'm from Wales. My dad, my sister, and I are out here visiting my Aunt Mel for a couple of weeks.
J.J.: Well, welcome to Salem.
J.J. and the girl shook hands.
J.J.: Oh, and I'm sorry. I must have left my manners at home today. I'm Jack Deveraux. Well, Jack Deveraux, Jr. Most people just call me J.J.
GIRL: I'm Ceridwen Alamain. My mates call me Ceri.
J.J.: Ceri. Pretty name. So, Ceri, what are you doing on Friday?
CERI: Not sure yet. Why?
J.J.: Well, I was wondering if you'd like to hang out? Get a bite to eat, maybe I could show you around Salem?
CERI: Are you asking me out?
J.J.: Possibly. Are you interested?
CERI: I'll think about it. But, I'm pretty sure I'm not your type.
J.J.: But, we just met. How can you say that you're not my type?
CERI: Just trust me, I'm not.
J.J.: Well, in that case I wasn't asking you out. I was simply asking if you would be interested in getting a bit of a tour around Salem, and if I could take you on said tour.
CERI: Oh, sorry. I thought you were hitting on me. Anyway, yeah, a tour around Salem would be kinda nice.
J.J.: Cool. Here's my number.
J.J. gets out a piece of paper and a pen. He writes on the paper and hands the paper to Ceri. She stuffs it in her pants pocket.
J.J.: Just call me whenever you're ready for the tour.
CERI: Right, thanks. Well, I should probably catch up to Aunt Mel and my sister. See ya later, Jack.
Ceri turned and walked away.
J.J.: You can call me J.J.!
J.J. got out his phone and dialed a number.
J.J.: Joseph, I've got some news.
