Friends - Just want to say I am sorry this story is so sad. I wrote it after Jay announced he was leaving, so I was pretty morose at the time. I probably should have made it shorter. The story ends on Tuesday.

CHLOE’S BEDROOM, THE NEXT MORNING
Maggie knocks on the door to Chloe’s room. Maggie: Chloe honey? It’s almost noon. Can I get you something to eat? Chloe stares at the wall and doesn’t answer. Maggie: Honey, you’re going to waste away to nothing if you don’t eat. Chloe: I don’t care. People kill themselves in a lot of different ways. Maggie: No, don’t say that. Chloe: I have no reason to live anymore. I have nothing. If I died ... Maggie: The world would be a poorer place. Chloe [crying]: If I died, I’d be with Philip and Wesley. I want to be with them. Maggie: I know honey, and they’ll wait for you. You don’t need to go to them now. Chloe: I got an email from Philip. Maggie: What??? Chloe: I got an email from Philip. He wrote it before ... Maggie: Do you want to tell me what the email said? Chloe: I don’t know what it said. I didn’t read it. Maggie: Why not? Chloe: I couldn’t. If I read it ... it will be the last message I’ll ever get from Philip. When I finish reading it, there’ll be nothing left, nothing ... it’ll be over. And I’ll be alone. Maggie: Oh my poor sweet Chloe. I know exactly how you feel. Mickey sent me a message that I didn’t get until after he died. Chloe: Did you read it? Maggie: Yes of course. It was a phone message and I’ve listened to it again and again. In fact, I’ve listened to it at least once every day since Mickey died. Instead of being the end, it can be a great comfort. Chloe: I never thought of that. Suppose Philip’s email says something like... Maggie: Like what? Chloe: I don’t know. Something ... trivial. Like ... I’ll stop for milk on the way home. Maggie: I’m pretty sure Philip didn’t know where the grocery store was. But you’ll never know what the email says unless you read it.
To be continued ...

Read it Chloe... read it right now ASAP!!!! Kpatch, it's ok if you write a sad story... we shouldn't expect all your stories to be lighthearted as Roman Holiday.. or car54 where are you? Besides, something tells me it may not be as sad as we think it is...(hopeing)

Aww!! I just love Maggie. She's such a sweetheart!! And her saying the Phillip probably didn't know where the grocery store was was too funny!! jkjpatch - this is just the kind of send-off that Phillip deserves (plus it's leaving room for him to come back later )

It's okay jkjpatch, sad stories are needed to make the happy ones that much better. Besides, it takes a ver talented writer to keep people coming back when the story is this sad. So as always it's wonderful, and we love you!!

Good for Maggie... that was wise advice and I agree that the line about Philip not knowing where to find the grocery store was funny ... and sweet.

Thanks for another great chapter. I think that Maggie is a great person for Chloe to be around right now. I hope we get to read the email too! hehehe Thanks for sharing jkjpatch! And sad stories are OK too! I just love that you brought my most favorite couple in the world together for one last time before something bad happened to either of them!

Oh jkjpatch...you made us cry because you are so good. Otherwise we'd never believe Philip was dead. He is dead isn't he? Last love + Morose jkjpatch probably = dead Philip. I am resigned to the end no matter what. That was some chapter there, my friend. You know how tough this has been for me, but Maggie is so right. Open the e-mail Chloe. The thing I most regret was cancelling Ash's phone line; I just wanted relief from the endless phone calls, it didn't occur to me till after that it was her voice and I was going to miss it so much. You have done a wonderful job portraying Chloe's grief. You are amazing.

Thanks friends for your support and encouragement. I know this is hitting home for some of you who have experienced real-life tragedies and I am touched and thankful that you are sticking with the story anyway.

Girl you KNOW we love you! *hugs* I won't speak for everyone who has commented so far (I just found this story for some reason and read all the way through),but I have to say,for me,who is mourning the loss of Jay in just a few weeks and most likely Philip,I find this story oddly therapeutic (I can never spell that word, but you get what I'm saying, lol). It's allowing me to get my tears out now and I have to say I appreciate that.IMO,no one can handle Philip's departure as well as you can. You've done it with class, dignity and care, three things the writers probably won't use when we are faced with Philip's departure on the 19th.

CHLOE’S BEDROOM Chloe: Suppose Philip’s email says something like... Maggie: Like what? Chloe: I don’t know. Something ... trivial. Like ... I’ll stop for milk on the way home. Maggie: I’m pretty sure Philip didn’t know where the grocery store was. But you’ll never know what the email says unless you read it. Chloe: You’re right. Maggie: Are you ready to read the email? Chloe nods her head.Maggie: I’ll leave you to read it in private. Come downstairs whenever you’re ready. Chloe gets out of bed and goes to sit at the desk where her iPad is. She looks at a picture of herself and Philip that she has set as the wallpaper on her ipad. Chloe draws a deep breath, then logs into her gmail account and feels herself trembling as she stares at the unopened email message. She clicks on it.***Email from Philip to Chloe*** Damn. We’re still circling. I wish this plane would land already. Feels like an eternity and I’m getting increasingly antsy. I can’t wait to be home with you and Wesley. With my family. Did I ever tell you that some of the staff at Titan call you my instant family? How crazy is that? Instant? Not hardly. It took a lot of work to get us back together and a little divine intervention. When I think about all the roads we took, the detours, the breakdowns, the breakups, all the years since we first fell in love ... to finally be together, to finally be married ... you know what? It was worth it. I love you and I can’t even put into words the depth of my feelings for you and Wesley. Chloe, you’ve taken my breath away ever since I saw you in that red dress at the Last Blast dance. I don’t say it often enough, do I? Whether we’re together or apart, all I have to do is think of you and I feel like a tidal wave is washing over me. I’m so happy I sometimes feel like I could explode. Am I rambling? Sorry. I’m just killing time until the plane lands. Until I’m holding you in my arms again. I can’t wait. It won’t be long.Chloe [crying]: We didn’t have long enough. To be continued on Monday ...
