THE CONDO

Philip and Chloe ate dinner in silence. Chloe fed Parker, put him to bed, and then went into the bedroom. She put on her pajamas, climbed into bed alone and turned out the light. Philip came into the bedroom a few minutes later. He switched the light on.

Philip: Are we not speaking?
Chloe didn’t turn around and she didn’t answer. Philip sighed.
Philip: I wrote my list.
Without turning around, Chloe spoke.
Chloe: What list?
Philip: The list I said I’d write when we were on the sofa and you asked me “what you’re going to do with me.”
Finally, Chloe turned over and looked at Philip. He was holding a piece of paper in his hand. Chloe looked at it.
Philip: Here. This is what I want you to do.
Chloe took the piece of paper from Philip and read it. It said two words. “Forgive me.”
Chloe: Forgive you? For what?
Philip sat on the bed next to Chloe.
Philip: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be nosy about your phonecall. It’s just...
Chloe: It was Brady.
Philip stiffened.
Philip: Oh.
Chloe: We hadn’t spoken in a while and he wanted to catch up. See how I was doing.
Philip: Did he ... did he upset you?
Chloe: A little.
Philip: Can I ask why?
Chloe: I told him about us.
Philip: Us?
Chloe: I told him we’re together. And he said some things I didn’t really want to hear.
Philip: Leave it to Brady.
Chloe: It wasn’t like that. He was just ... he was worried about me.
Philip: Geez. Does he think I’m mistreating you? ... Chloe? ... Oh my god, he does! What the hell is his problem?
Chloe: You know, Philip, it really doesn’t matter.
Philip: Yes it does. If it’s bothering you, then it matters.
Chloe: No. Listen, you’re right. I’m being overly sensitive. It’s his problem, not ours. So let’s just drop it.
Philip: Chloe ...
Chloe kissed Philip’s lips. Then she looked at him and smiled as she touched his cheek.
Chloe: I forgive you. I love you. [She whispered in his ear.] Now, where’s that other list of yours?

Me thinks there is more to that phone call..........but I don't think it has to do with Brady's feelings over how Phillip is treating Chloe........like djm said, Brady took Chloe to Phillip and Parker.

THE CONDO, THE NEXT DAY

Chloe was out shopping, and Philip was working in his study when the doorman downstairs phoned.

Philip: Wow, that was faster than I expected. Sure, send him up.
As Philip went to answer the door, the visitor started knocking, and the knocking got louder and more persistent. Philip opened the door and the visitor charged into the apartment.

Philip: Brady. Nice to see you.
Brady: Where’s Chloe?
Philip: Why? Did you come to whisk her away? Save her from the evil Prince Philip?
Brady: You’re a riot Philip.
Philip: Could you keep it down? There’s a baby sleeping in the next room.
Brady: Where is she?
Philip: Parker's a he, not a she.
Brady: You’re trying my patience, Uncle Phil. I’m talking about Chloe, not Parker. Where’s Chloe?
Philip: She’s out.
Brady: Good. We need to talk.
Philip: What??? Are you saying you’re here to see me, not Chloe?
Brady: That’s right. I want to know what the hell you think you’re doing.
Philip: Brady, you could have just called. You didn’t have to jump on a plane just to ream me out.
Brady: You know how fragile she is. Why are you doing this to her?
Philip: She’s not as fragile as you think. And I’m not doing anything to her.
Brady: That’s not what she said.
Philip rolled his eyes.
Philip: Fine, what did she say?
Brady: She said you’re ... dating.

Meanwhile, Chloe had returned from shopping and was about to open the front door. She heard loud voices inside and listened for a couple of minutes before walking into the apartment.

Philip: Dating? Interesting. And?
Brady: And I wanted to know if you’ve made a commitment to her.
Philip: Excuse me?
Brady: It’s not like you just met. For god’s sake, you have a child together.
Philip: Brady, you’re starting to sound like a lunatic. Could you get to the point? Or better yet, could you just leave?
Brady: Why aren’t you marrying her?
Philip: Let me call you a cab.
Brady: You’re going to do what you always do. You’re going to have some fun, and then break her heart.
Philip: Hey, I’m the one whose heart usually gets broken, remember?
Brady: You can’t toy with her like this.
Philip: I’m not toying with anyone.
Brady: Then why aren’t you marrying her?
Philip: My relationship with Chloe is none of your damn business, Brady.
Brady: You know what I think? I think you’re the last man she’d want to marry.
Philip: Oh really? Maybe that’s because the first man she married ruined it for the rest of us.
