Okay - this is going to be interesting. Rafe & Carrie in Chicago sharing a suite and running into Phillip & Chloe who are on their way back to Salem. Wonder which one of them is going to spill the beans about having seen Carrie & Rafe together in Chicago to Salem...

Ok - so Carrie booked the rooms and now the hotel only has 1 left? I think Carrie did some underhanded work to get them in 1 room and 1 room only.
My money is on Chloe spilling the beans first, probably to Nicole, who can't wait to rub it in Sami's face who runs straight to the apartment to tell her.

I really liked Rafe and Carrie running into Philip and Chloe at the train station. I thought it was funny that Carrie was clueless about the Cardinals. Looking forward to more. Thanks DD!

Carrie and Rafe head upstairs to their hotel room. It has a large bedroom and small, separate, living room. Carrie walks into the bedroom and turns to shut the double doors before Rafe can walk in.
CARRIE: (Looks at him for a brief second) Um, good night.
RAFE: Good night.
She closes the doors and Rafe sinks onto the couch. He sighs and settles in for the night.
THE NEXT DAY, OUTSIDE WRIGLEY FIELD
CARRIE: Ok. We’re here. Where’s this Gary fella?
RAFE: (Looks around) There. He’s coming this way.
GARY: (Extends his hand to Rafe) Rafe, man, it’s been a long time.
RAFE: (Grabs Gary up in a manly bear hug) Gary! What’s it been? 5 years?
GARY: Just about. (Half jokingly) Man, you look like crap!
RAFE: (Smiles) I didn’t sleep so well last night.
GARY: I bet. (Looks at Carrie) And who’s this?
RAFE: This is Carrie, my….business partner.
CARRIE: (Shakes Gary’s hand) It’s nice to meet you.
RAFE: Enough of this chit chat, let’s head over to Harry Carey’s and get a beer.
They head across the street to the famous bar and settle in a booth in the back.
RAFE: Alright, spill it. What have you found?
GARY: You’re not going to believe this, but Emily is alive. She’s been in Witness Protection.
RAFE: She’s alive? And in Witness Protection? What for?
GARY: She was the sole witness to a mob hit and was the only one who could testify at the trial.
RAFE: How did we not know this before?
GARY: It was buried so deep, it only now just came to light.
CARRIE: Why is it coming out now?
GARY: The mobster she testified against died in prison. His entire network has dissipated and is no longer a threat.
RAFE: The baby. What happened to the baby?
GARY: She had a little baby boy. I believe she named him David.
RAFE: After my father…. Where are they now?
GARY: They are living in a small suburb outside Atlanta.
CARRIE: (Smiles at Rafe and touches his arm) You have a son. You should go to them.
RAFE: (Covers her hand with his) I have a son. (Looks at Gary) I don’t believe this. How could I not have known?
GARY: When she disappeared I was low man on the totem pole and you were just a lowly cop on a beat. There was no way you would have been consulted. Plus, with you being a cop, that made it even more complicated. Everything happened so quickly that she needed to just disappear.
RAFE: But they found her blood in the car. I watched them test the sample. It was HER blood.
GARY: Planted. Everyone needed to believe that she had been abducted and killed. That way, the mob would believe she’d been “taken care of.” The agents in charge refused to let her contact you or bring you along. They felt that if her fiancée, a cop himself, believed she was dead, no one would question it.
RAFE: (Dumbfounded) I can’t believe it. How did you find all of this?
GARY: I kept an ear to the ground and an eye out for anything involving Emily. When that mob guy died, her file came up. That was it. I did a little digging to make sure it was the same girl, and after everything was confirmed, I called you. If you want to see her, I can arrange that. She’s here in town.
RAFE: (Shocked) She’s here? Did she bring David? Are they safe?
GARY: Yes, she’s here but I don’t think she brought David. While we consider all threats to be eliminated and we don’t think she’s in any danger, she wanted to stay on the safe side.
RAFE: When can I see her?
GARY: I’ll contact her and let you know. I have your number.
RAFE: I don’t know how to thank you.
GARY: Hey, what are friends for? (They shake hands and Gary leaves)

Awww!!! Rafe has a child of his own and he doesn't belong to Sami!! thank goodness! Sami doesn't need another kid. I can definately see Sami being out of the picture now, but I'm wondering who Rafe is going to choose...........Emily & David, or Carrie....
Great chapter DD!! Thanks for filling in the holes where Emily was concerned.

Wow, Emily is alive and she had their baby. Poor Rafe. Poor Emily. So sad. I wonder what Rafe will do. Carrie is so supportive. I'm glad she was there for him.
Their hotel room reminded me of the one in her fantasy dream.
I can't wait for more!
