I've never heard of it, but I'm not one for black and white movies either. I have heard the line "Don't let's ask for the moon..." but I had no idea where it came from.

I'm sure from your story, I can get the gist of the movie.

Loved Parker's birthday, and the gift that Philip gave Chloe. The best part is we get a gift too. Another Chapter. I have never seen or heard of the movie, but now want to see it. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

THE CONDO

Chloe: So, what did you think of the movie? ... Philip?
Chloe looked at Philip and started laughing.
Chloe: Philip, are you crying?
Philip: Me? No, of course not.
Philip looked in the opposite direction and blinked a few times, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand.
Parker: Oh geez Dad, you are crying. Man up!
Chloe: The movie got to you, didn’t it?
Philip looked at Chloe.
Philip: It’s not just the movie.

Chloe knew that look and she knew that Philip was talking about the two of them, something she wasn’t ready for. She got up off the couch and put Parker in his playpen. Then she started rambling.
Chloe: You know what I like best about us? I like how comfortable things are between us. I mean especially after everything we went through. We’re finally in a good place ... you, me and Parker. And it means a lot to me to know I can count on you now ... as a friend. You have no idea how grateful I am for your friendship. In fact, I don’t think I could handle anything more than friendship ... not with anyone.
Parker: Jeez Mom, would you take a breath so Dad can get a word in edgewise?
Philip: Chloe ....
Chloe: I mean, if we ever became more than friends, we’d lose everything.
Philip: What??? Why would we lose everything?
Chloe: Because ... when we break up, we’ll end up having to figure out custody issues again. I mean, having Parker in our lives really raises the stakes.
Philip: What do you mean “when” we break up? Why is that a given?
Parker: Go Dad go!
Chloe: Are you kidding? Look at our history with each other and our history with other people. I’ve been married and divorced three times. You’ve been divorced twice.
Philip: May as well throw in the broken engagement ... if we want to be accurate with our scorekeeping.
Chloe: See? We’re both a wreck when it comes to affairs of the heart.
Philip: But ... just because love hasn’t worked out for either of us up to now doesn’t mean it never will.
Chloe: I’m not willing to take the chance.
Philip: I’m not willing not to take the chance.
They looked at each other for a long moment before Chloe looked away.
Chloe: I hope it does work out for you, Philip. I mean it. ... Um. It’s been a long day. I’m gonna put Parker to bed and I’m going to go to sleep too. [She lifted Parker out of his playpen.] Goodnight Philip. Thank you for my gift.

After putting Parker to bed, Chloe walked through the living room to get to her bedroom. She saw Philip lying on the couch. She went over to see if he was okay and saw that he was fast asleep. She went to the hall closet and retrieved a blanket that she gently placed over Philip. She looked at his face and brushed his hair back with her fingertips. She softly kissed his lips and went to her bedroom.

Wow! It's no secret that I despise Chloe, but even here, I feel bad her and am cheering her on for her realizations & restraint at the same time. Great job jkjpatch!!!

Thanks for giving us a bonus chapter Kpatch. I really liked the way the movie affected Philip. I can understand Chloe's fears regarding their past relationships and her past as well. Maybe things keep falling apart for both of them because they keep marrying the wrong people?!

THE CONDO, THE NEXT DAY

Chloe knocked on the door to Philip’s study.

Chloe: Hi. I made you some lunch.
Philip: Oh, thanks. You didn’t have to do that. Mmm. Greek salad!
Chloe: I remember you used to like it.
Philip: Still do. Thanks. And thanks for the blanket last night.
Chloe: I didn’t want you to get cold. ... I have my weekly call in a few minutes, so I’ll be in my room.
Philip: Chloe, not to be nosy, but how are the calls going?
Chloe: Good. Dr. Spencer is really caring and understanding. It’s just kind of weird because she’s Lucas’s father’s ex-wife. But it was either her, or Brady’s father’s wife.
Philip laughed.
Philip: I’m glad she’s helping you. ... Chloe, I hope I didn’t say anything last night to make you ...
Chloe: No, not at all. Last night was fun. Watching Now Voyager together ... I had a good time.
Philip: I always have a good time when I’m with you.
Chloe: Thanks. Well, enjoy your lunch.


CHLOE’S BEDROOM

Chloe was talking on the phone to her psychiatrist.

Chloe: Hi Laura. It’s Chloe. Well, something happened last night that I need to talk about. Yes, it does. Remember I told you that I’ve been getting the feeling that he wants to be more than friends again? Well, last night it became pretty obvious. No, he didn’t do anything. But the way he looked and the things he said made it clear that he wants more. What did I say? What didn’t I say?

At that moment, Philip walked by Chloe’s room on his way to the kitchen to put his plate in the dishwasher and he heard her talking. He stopped when he realized she was talking about him.

Chloe: I told him that I can’t handle being anything more than friends. I said that I don’t want to take the chance that things will go wrong and we’ll end up hurting each other or even hating each other. No, I’m not interested in a romantic relationship with him.

Philip heard more than enough, so he went back to his study, muttering “That’s what you get for eavesdropping.”

Chloe: You’re right. I’m not being honest with myself. The truth is ... the truth is I’m protecting myself. I’m not the same person I used to be. I mean, it's kind of hard to forget that I was a prostitute. I feel ... I feel dirty and cheap and I don’t want to be touched. Chloe started to cry. And I couldn’t bear it if he came near me and was repulsed by me. What? Do I think that Philip sees me as cheap? No. I don’t think so. I mean he never acts like it. I don’t know if he even thinks about that anymore. But I do. I know I need to get past it. Because the truth is, I’ve fallen in love with him again and it scares me to death.
